Chapter 491: Old Walsh Poisoned

The next day, after breakfast, Deanna followed Old Hughes to treat Old Walsh.

Originally, after yesterday's treatment, Old Walsh's condition had improved significantly. Today's treatment was to consolidate his recovery.

However, as Deanna performed acupuncture, Old Walsh's face gradually turned an abnormal purple-black.

With a sudden sound, bright red blood spurted from Old Walsh's throat, and he lost consciousness, about to collapse onto the bed.

Fortunately, Old Hughes reacted quickly and caught him. Deanna was startled.

She quickly took Old Walsh's hand to check his pulse.

Old Hughes, seeing her serious expression, asked worriedly, "Anna, what's wrong with Old Walsh?"

"Old Walsh has been poisoned."

Deanna frowned and looked grave.

Old Hughes's face changed instantly. "How could he be poisoned? Is it serious?"

"It's not serious, but we need to find out how he was poisoned."

Deanna looked at the unconscious Old Walsh and spoke calmly.

She then removed the silver needles from Old Walsh one by one and stood up. "I'll go talk to the Walsh family."

"Wait, I'll go with you."

Old Hughes didn't feel comfortable letting Deanna face the Walsh family alone. He put down his old friend and quickly followed her.

When they went out, they saw the Walsh family members waiting at the door.

"Dr. Deanna, you're out. Is today's treatment over?"

"Why is the treatment today so brief?" Mr. and Mrs. Walsh asked in unison.

Deanna didn't hide anything and said honestly, "The treatment isn't over, but there's been a situation..."

"What situation? Did you make my grandfather's condition worse?!"

Leticia interrupted before Deanna could finish.

Hearing this, the others looked at Deanna with concern.

Although Deanna was displeased at being interrupted, she explained truthfully, "Old Walsh has been poisoned, which has aggravated his internal inflammation."

Almost as soon as she finished speaking, Leticia's exclamation echoed in the corridor.

"What? My grandfather has been poisoned?"

Leticia glared at Deanna angrily. "Quack doctor! I knew you were unreliable. Now something has happened."

Mr. and Mrs. Walsh and Hassan looked shocked.

"Dr. Deanna, what's going on?"

"How could Grandpa be poisoned?"

Deanna's expression tightened as she replied, "Preliminary diagnosis suggests that it was caused by a drug interaction."

As soon as she said this, Leticia seemed to have found a handle and her demeanor changed.

"You still say you're not a quack doctor? You prepared all the herbs yourself. You mixed incompatible herbs and gave them to my grandfather. You don't know how to treat illnesses and are trying to kill him!" Leticia aggressively accused Deanna.

Deanna was furious.

She could confidently say she would never mix up any herbs.

But Leticia hadn't even investigated what had happened and was already cursing her.

Moreover, Leticia had been picking on Deanna for the past two days, exhausting the latter's patience.

Unable to bear it any longer, she snapped back, "If you think I'm incompetent, then you do it!"

She had had enough. If it weren't for Old Hughes's sake, she would have walked away yesterday when Leticia first caused trouble. Why should she endure this?

Leticia didn't expect Deanna to retort and was stunned for a few seconds.

Then she reacted and became even angrier.

"You quack doctor! You poisoned my grandfather and now you have the nerve to argue?"

She glared at Deanna and threatened through gritted teeth, "I'm telling you, if anything happens to my grandfather, I won't let you off!"

Old Hughes's face darkened at these words.

"I believe Anna would never mess around with a patient's health. There must be other factors involved!"

After speaking, he turned to Ernest and said sternly, "Since the poisoning was caused by drug interaction, let's examine the medicine and see what's going on."

Hearing this, Ernest nodded in agreement. "We brewed a dose of medicine this morning. The kitchen should still have the dregs. I'll have someone bring them over."

A few minutes later, a servant brought over the dregs of the morning's brew.

As soon as the dregs were poured out, Deanna stepped forward to inspect them.

Quickly, she found several pieces of herbs that didn't belong in the prescription and picked them out with a cold expression.

"These aren't from my prescription!"

"Miss Jones, are you sure?"

Hassan looked at the herbs in Deanna's hand with a serious expression.

Deanna nodded. "I prepared Old Walsh's herbs myself. I know exactly what's in them. These aren't from my prescription and are incompatible with my herbs. Someone must have added them later."

"So someone tried to harm Old Walsh and frame Anna!" Old Hughes spoke calmly.
