Of course, Deanna didn't show any signs of distress. After all, being scolded behind one's back was never pleasant. However, she understood that it was a ploy by the Jones family and the Howard family. So, even if she cared, it would be futile. She couldn't shake the Howard family, so she decided to ignore it.
Experience made her clear-headed. She smiled lightly and advised Julia, "Julia, I'm fine. Don't worry about these things, just go to work."
Deanna's sincere gaze made Julia blink in surprise. "Today is the weekend, I don't work," she said, sitting on the sofa with a pillow in her arms, refusing to budge.
"I don't care, I'm here today, so I'll freeload!" Julia pouted cutely.
Deanna chuckled and felt touched. She knew Julia was worried that she might feel upset, so she was accompanying her. Standing beside Julia, Deanna raised her eyebrows and said cheerfully, "Well then, come to the garden and help me weed."
Her tone was light, as if she hadn't been affected at all. Julia observed her and breathed a sigh of relief internally.
With a grimace, Julia exaggeratedly exclaimed, "Ah!" and buried herself in the sofa cushion. She just wanted to eat Deanna's delicious food, not to work as a laborer.
Deanna pulled her up and said with hands on hips, "I don't keep idlers here. If you want to eat, you have to work first!"
Julia looked at her resentfully, pouted, and reluctantly agreed. But then she took the opportunity to tickle Deanna.
"You dare to tickle me!" Deanna pretended to be annoyed and retaliated by tickling Julia.
The two of them played around happily, sweating profusely but feeling much better afterwards.
Chloe and Gregory, already dressed in little hats and gloves, were ready to help. The two children looked radiant and eager.
"Mummy, we're ready. When are we leaving? Is Auntie going with us?" Gregory asked Deanna seriously.
Chloe ran to the bedroom and fetched gloves for Julia. The little girl came back and blinked at Julia, saying, "Auntie, good luck!"
Julia laughed and complained to Deanna, "Now I have to go even if I don't want to."
She took the gloves resignedly, and the four of them set off for the garden, spending a busy morning together.
It wasn't until almost noon that they finished and returned home to cook. Deanna headed straight for the kitchen, calling out to Julia, "Julia, come and help wash the vegetables!"
Julia walked over, holding her phone and looking at it as she went. Suddenly, she exclaimed, "Hey, look, all the news about you online has suddenly disappeared. What's going on?"
"Let me see." Deanna was surprised, put down what she was doing, wiped her hands, took the phone from Julia, and indeed, all the negative news about her had vanished. The comments about her were almost all deleted. However, Emily's news was still there, mostly negative.
Deanna was a little baffled. "I don't know why it suddenly disappeared."
Curiously, Julia speculated, "Could it be that someone from the Jones family had a change of heart and ordered Garrett to withdraw those online commentators?"
She snorted, "Impossible. Garrett hates me now. Even if it was him, he wouldn't leave those comments criticizing Emily. She's his precious daughter."
Julia clicked her tongue and rubbed her chin. "Well, whatever."
Deanna squinted her eyes. "But someone definitely manipulated public opinion. I just don't know who would be so kind to do this for me."
It probably cost a lot of money to suppress these things, and it didn't benefit the other party at all. She was curious who would go to such lengths for her.
Julia waved her hand, showing a pleased expression. "Who cares who it is! At least no one is cursing you anymore. Anyway, that bitch Emily deserves to be cursed. Villains will get their just deserts."
To Julia, this was a cause for celebration.
Deanna didn't comment and pointed to the vegetables in the basin. "Julia, wash the vegetables first."
Then she continued to scrub the pots. At this moment, Emily was furious. She angrily threw her phone to the ground, took a deep breath, picked it up again, and continued to scold Elizabeth on the other end.
"What's going on? What are you good for? You couldn't even handle my negative news, but you managed to get Deanna's negative news taken down?" Emily was bewildered.
Elizabeth tried to comfort her, "I didn't want this to happen! I had someone deal with those news articles, but I don't know why, those media outlets refused to take the job. Many of the online commentators I hired got their accounts banned."
Elizabeth felt a bit wronged; she didn't know what was going on either. Then she suddenly remembered something and reminded Emily, "It seems that someone is manipulating public opinion behind the scenes."
