Thinking about it, Deanna felt speechless towards Miss Walsh.
She believed that she had no grievances with Miss Walsh. Before coming to the Walsh family, she didn't even know her.
So why did Miss Walsh like to cause her trouble?
Perhaps Deanna would never understand that sometimes a woman's hostility towards another woman is simply because she doesn't like the look of her, or because the other woman is more attractive and accomplished, leading to jealousy.
"Miss Walsh, you're overthinking. Mr. Hassan and I just happened to meet," Deanna replied coldly, also explaining to Mrs. Walsh.
Hassan was not slow to catch on.
He glanced coldly at Leticia and said in a deep voice, "I invited Miss Jones to join me for morning exercise. After all, Miss Jones just arrived yesterday and is unfamiliar with the surroundings. Besides, Grandpa asked me to take care of Miss Jones."
"I see. Well, you two should go freshen up; it's almost time for breakfast." Mrs. Walsh spoke warmly, realizing she had been used as a pawn.
As Deanna and her son went upstairs, Mrs. Walsh's smile faded, and she looked at Leticia with displeasure.
"I don't know why you keep targeting Miss Jones, but she was specially invited by Old Hughes to treat your grandfather. I hope you will stop this behavior. If you make her angry, don't say I teamed up with outsiders to bully you."
Leticia bit her lip in frustration at the warning.
She had thought that by stirring things up, she could make her mother dislike Deanna, but it backfired.
Seeing her daughter remain silent, Mrs. Walsh frowned and questioned again, "Did you hear what I just said?"
"I did," Leticia replied sullenly.
Mrs. Walsh gave her a look, knowing that the girl was still unhappy but decided not to say more.
She knew it would be pointless.
Later, after breakfast, Deanna began treating Mr. Walsh.
Old Hughes assisted from the side.
As needles were inserted into Mr. Walsh's body, an indescribable pain spread through him.
Seeing his pale and strained expression, Deanna explained softly, "I'm using acupuncture to draw the pus in your body to your lungs. It may be uncomfortable now, but once I remove the needles and expel the pus, you'll feel better."
Mr. Walsh nodded, unable to speak from the discomfort.
The pain was intense; his face grew paler, and veins bulged on his forehead from the strain.
Deanna admired the old man's endurance.
Despite the pain, he didn't utter a sound.
After about an hour, Old Hughes's calm voice broke the silence.
"Anna, it's done. The pulse in his liver has returned to normal."
"I understand. I'll start removing the needles now. Please place a basin in front of Mr. Walsh."
Deanna spoke steadily.
Old Hughes fetched a basin and placed it in front of Mr. Walsh.
Moments later, as Deanna removed the needles, Mr. Walsh began to vomit violently.
A foul odor filled the room.
After about ten minutes, Mr. Walsh stopped vomiting, looking extremely pale and exhausted as he lay on the bed.
Deanna stood nearby and said seriously, "The pus should be mostly expelled now. Drink a decoction later to consolidate the treatment. If there's no pus tomorrow, it means the treatment was successful."
"Thank you, Dr. Deanna," Mr. Walsh croaked.
Deanna shook her head, indicating it was no trouble.
She then helped Old Hughes clean up before heading to the door.
Outside the room, Mr. and Mrs. Walsh, Hassan and Leticia stood in the hallway.
Seeing Deanna and Old Hughes emerge, they hurried forward to ask, "How is he?"
"The initial treatment is done. Give him the decoction I prepared later. If there's no pus tomorrow, it means the treatment was successful," Deanna explained.
Mr. and Mrs. Walsh sighed in relief and thanked her profusely. "Thank you so much, Dr. Deanna. Can we go in and see him now?"
"You can, but try not to let him talk too much. He just vomited a lot; his throat must be sore," Deanna advised.
Mr. and Mrs. Walsh listened carefully and then eagerly entered the room.
Hassan followed them and thanked Deanna as he passed by. "Thank you for your hard work, Dr. Deanna. I heard that acupuncture is very taxing. I've arranged for some ginseng tea to be brought up for you."
Deanna was a bit surprised by Hassan's thoughtfulness but did not refuse.
