The weekend arrived quickly. Early in the morning, Lance brought Xavier and other helpers to assist Deanna with her move.
As each piece of furniture was moved out, Deanna watched with mixed feelings. In less than half a year, this was already her second move. She hoped that she would live a stable life after this.
Old Ashley stood nearby with the two little ones, each with their own thoughts. The children were naturally ecstatic, jumping and bouncing around. Lance watched them with amusement. He walked over and ruffled the two little ones' heads, his voice low and smiling, "So happy?"
"Of course! Now we can see Uncle more often," Chloe looked up, her dark eyes sparkling. Gregory nodded in agreement, "Uncle can even live with us. There are more rooms now, and he can bring Demon over too."
As soon as he said this, Chloe seemed to think of something and looked at Lance with hopeful eyes. "If Uncle lives with us, we can be like a family. Just thinking about it makes Chloe very happy."
"Why don't you move in with us, Uncle?" Gregory looked at him expectantly.
Lance and Deanna were both stunned. They clearly hadn't expected the children to make such a request. Lance glanced at the dazed woman beside him, his eyes flickering.
Then he looked at the two little ones with a smile and said softly, "Uncle would love to move in, but I'm afraid your mommy won't agree."
Hearing this, Deanna glared at him. This man was cunning, implying she wouldn't agree to make the children plead for him. The two little ones really believed their mommy wouldn't agree and began to act cute and persuade her.
"Mommy, let Uncle stay with us."
"The new house has so many rooms; we can't use them all. Can we prepare one for Uncle?"
Deanna found this both amusing and exasperating. Old Ashley watched them with a smile, not intending to say anything.
"Stop!" Deanna made a pause gesture and looked seriously at the two little ones. "You want Uncle to stay, I don't mind. But under what pretext? I am single, and so is Mr. Mercer. Living together would harm our reputations. Do you want people to talk badly about your mommy?"
The two little ones took this in. They tilted their heads and thought for a few seconds before innocently saying, "Then Mommy and Uncle should be together."
Deanna hadn't expected them to say that and didn't know how to respond. Chloe wrinkled her nose and muttered, "Uncle has been chasing Mommy for so long. Mommy even kissed Uncle before. It's not right for Mommy not to take responsibility."
Deanna felt a pang in her heart. What did they mean by her not taking responsibility for kissing Lance? That was an accident! It was all Julia's fault for teaching the kids nonsense.
Thinking she needed to change the topic before she lost the argument, Deanna cleared her throat and said, "Fine, if you want your Uncle Lance to stay and he agrees, Mommy won't object."
"Yay! Uncle, live with us!" The two little ones beamed at Lance.
Lance didn't refuse and even suggested, "I'll have Xavier bring Demon over later. Every evening, I'll take you to walk Demon."
"Great! Thank you, Uncle," the two little ones jumped with excitement.
After moving and tidying up the manor, it was nearly evening. The chef had already prepared a sumptuous dinner.
Deanna was surprised by the abundance of dishes on the table. "Isn't this too much?"
She hesitated and looked at Lance. Before he could respond, the butler smiled and congratulated her, "Not at all, Miss Jones. This is a small gesture from Mr. Mercer to congratulate you on your new home."
Hearing this, Deanna couldn't say much more and joined the table with her children and grandmother.
During the meal, the children ate happily, and the food was delicious. Even Old Ashley, who usually ate little, had two plates of pasta.
Deanna had a bit of wine and felt light-headed but peaceful in a way she had never felt before.
In the past, she had always been focused on making money to provide better conditions for her children, never allowing herself a moment's rest. She knew that her current good life was due to Lance's presence. Though not very talkative, he always showed his intentions through actions.
