"Actually, there's nothing wrong with Dr. Deanna and Lance being together. They have children now, and they have feelings for each other. Why are we making such a fuss and affecting our family's harmony?" Logan spoke his mind.
Samantha was at a loss for words.
Logan continued, "All along, we thought Lance needed a supportive wife. But from these two incidents, whether it was the Valencia family or the Cody family, it's clear that Lance is capable on his own. He doesn't need a supportive wife. Why not let him choose someone he likes? And Dr. Deanna is not without her merits. Although she doesn't have an outstanding background, I heard she has a master who is an heir to ancient medical arts."
"What's the use of saying this now? I've already offended her, and now I can't even see my own grandchildren," Samantha said, feeling both frustrated and regretful.
Seeing her unhappy expression, Logan smiled gently and said, "Even if they don't come to us, we can go to them. I've found out that Lance will take Dr. Deanna and the two children to the horse ranch this weekend. I can teach the kids horseback riding then."
Hearing this, Samantha didn't say anything more. She lowered her head and murmured softly, "Then I'll ask the kitchen to prepare some food that the kids like."
Meanwhile, at the Cody family villa.
Kelly received a call from a club staff member.
"Mrs. Cody, Mr. Cody is drunk at our club. You might need to come and pick him up."
"Oh, okay. I'll be there right away."
Kelly hung up the phone and immediately instructed the butler to prepare the car.
Soon, she arrived at the club and found Jeffery drunk in a private room. She frowned deeply.
"Honey," she called out as she walked over.
However, Jeffery ignored her, sitting on the floor with a bottle in his arms, his head down so she couldn't see his expression.
Seeing this, Kelly's delicate eyebrows furrowed even more tightly. The strong smell of alcohol in the room made her head spin.
She forced herself to endure the discomfort and reached out to pull him up.
At that moment, Jeffery suddenly grabbed her hand, his voice hoarse and choked with emotion. "Let me sit for a while longer."
"What happened?" Kelly immediately sensed something was wrong with her husband and squatted down anxiously to look at him.
It was then that Jeffery raised his head, his eyes red as if he had been crying, with tears still lingering at the corners of his eyes.
Seeing her husband so heartbroken and desperate shocked Kelly.
She couldn't remember the last time she saw her husband cry. She knew he wasn't someone who cried easily unless something truly unbearable had happened.
Thinking of this, she urgently asked again, "What exactly happened?"
"It's all gone. Everything is gone!" Jeffery said with a bitter smile.
Kelly felt a surge of unease in her heart.
Before she could speak again, Jeffery continued, "Lance found out about our plan to get a loan from an international bank. He gave me two days to move out of Cloudmere or else he would bankrupt our family."
"How dare he?!" Kelly shouted in shock and anger.
But no matter how furious she was, it was an unchangeable fact.
Later that evening, the couple returned to their villa and sat silently on the sofa.
Jeffery had sobered up by then.
He looked at his wife across from him and rubbed his face hard before regaining his composure. "Leaving Cloudmere might be good for us. We can get away from Lance's influence and take some time to recuperate. During these years, I'll work hard on rebuilding the company; we'll come back stronger."
Kelly knew her husband made sense but found it hard to accept internally.
She had grown accustomed to life in Cloudmere and its luxuries. Moving elsewhere and possibly having to live under someone else's mercy suffocated her just thinking about it.
At that moment, Bella came downstairs.
Seeing her parents' gloomy faces, she approached with concern. "Mom, Dad, what's wrong?"
Then she seemed to remember something and turned to Jeffery. "Dad, did you sign the agreement with the international bank today?"
"Don't talk to me," Jeffery said in a restrained voice after glancing at Samantha.
Bella frowned in confusion at her father's behavior.
Just as she was about to ask more questions, Kelly pulled her aside and whispered, "Don't upset your father further. If you want to know what happened, come upstairs with me."
Hearing this, Bella glanced at her father but said nothing more as she followed her mother upstairs.
Once in the room, Bella immediately asked, "What happened?"
"Your father's deal with the international bank fell through because Lance found out about it. Lance gave us two days to move out of Cloudmere," Kelly explained.
