Kelly thought more and more that her idea was correct. However, looking at her husband and daughter, it was clear that asking them to reconcile with Lance was impossible. Just as she was about to give up, a sudden inspiration struck her mind, leading her to another solution.
"How about this? Since you can't reconcile with Lance, let's go find Samantha and her husband. If that doesn't work, we can ask Old Cody to contact Old Mercer again. With the friendship between our two families and Old Cody's connections, I don't believe the Mercer family would really go to such extremes."
It was indeed a plan. But Jeffery couldn't make up his mind immediately. After all, seeking help from anyone felt like lowering his head.
Lance had no idea what was happening on their side. He spent the entire day at the ranch with Deanna and her two children. By the end of the day, although Deanna's riding skills were not great, she dared to ride a horse at a slow trot by herself. The two kids had an absolute blast and were still excited when they returned.
"Uncle, can we come back to play next time?" Chloe looked at Lance expectantly, reluctant to leave the pony she had ridden all day.
Lance naturally wouldn't refuse her. "Of course, anytime you want to come, just tell me, and I'll arrange it."
"Great! I love Uncle the most." The little girl was overjoyed and threw herself into Lance's arms.
Lance quickly held her to prevent her from falling off the seat. Deanna found it amusing and scolded gently, "Sit properly and don't bother your uncle."
"It's okay; she's in a rare delight. Let's not spoil the fun." Lance stopped Deanna and looked down dotingly at the little girl in his arms.
Chloe gave him a sweet smile, her eyes sparkling as she asked again, "Uncle, can I ride today's pony next time?"
"Of course you can. I forgot to tell you; that pony is yours from now on. Whenever you come, it will be here waiting for you." Lance said softly, gently tapping the little girl's nose.
Then he turned to Gregory beside him and said, "You too. Today's pony is yours now. Whenever you want to visit it at the ranch, just let me know or have your mommy bring you over."
"Thank you, Uncle," Gregory said politely.
Chloe was ecstatic. Her cheeks flushed as she asked excitedly, "Is the pony mine now? Can I take it home?"
"I'm afraid not. Where would you keep it at home?" Lance shook his head in response.
Deanna couldn't help but frown upon hearing his generosity. "Isn't this too much? Two purebred horses cost nearly a million dollars."
"It's not two; it's four," Lance corrected her with a smile before she could say more. "If I don't spoil them, who else would I spoil?"
Deanna was left speechless and couldn't help but think angrily: Does having money make you so great? Well, I have money now too!
Later that evening, they returned to the apartment. Lance helped Deanna carry the sleeping children upstairs and performed another treatment before leaving contentedly.
At this point, Deanna hadn't realized that her intention to keep distance from Lance had completely vanished due to his deliberate closeness.
Meanwhile, Samantha and Logan had returned from abroad. As soon as they got off the plane, they heard about the conflict between Mercer Group and Cody Group. The couple exchanged glances and then instructed someone to investigate what had happened in Cloudmere recently.
The next morning at Mercer family mansion, Samantha and Logan received the investigation report from their subordinates.
After reading through it, they frowned deeply. They never expected Bella would have someone kidnap Deanna and attempt to ruin her reputation or even harm their precious grandchildren.
No wonder Lance reacted so strongly.
After putting down the report, Samantha looked up at her husband. "What do you think about this?"
"Since Cody family brought this upon themselves, let's pretend we know nothing and let Lance handle it," Logan replied coldly.
Samantha nodded in agreement.
Just then, the butler walked in respectfully and reported, "Sir, Madam, Mr. Cody and his wife are here."
"What are they here for?" Samantha looked at her husband in confusion.
Logan furrowed his brows and thought for a moment before saying, "It might be related to company matters. Let them in."
The butler nodded and left. Shortly after, he returned with Jeffery and his wife.
Initially, Jeffery didn't want to bow down so quickly. But this morning's fine was astronomical for Cody Group. If they paid it off now, Lance could easily destroy them with just a few tactics.
