In the blink of an eye, two more days passed.
Lance's injuries had significantly improved.
After finishing her examination, Deanna relaxed and smiled, "The residual toxins are gone. Now it's just a matter of proper recuperation."
"Then I'll be troubling you," Lance said, his eyes smiling as he looked at her.
Deanna, not one to shirk responsibility, replied, "Naturally. From now on, I'll be even stricter with your diet and your daily routine will have to follow my requirements."
Seeing Deanna deliberately putting on a serious face, Lance put on a smile.
He nodded in a deep voice, "Alright, as you say."
For some reason, hearing this made Deanna's ears suddenly feel hot.
Especially when she saw the man's deep and profound eyes, her previously calm heart began to race.
"Well then, I'll go check if your medicinal cuisine is ready."
Leaving this sentence behind, she turned and left the study in a hurry.
Lance watched her hurriedly retreating figure, a hint of helplessness flashing in his eyes.
At this moment, Xavier appeared at the door.
He knocked and entered the room, his face looking somewhat grim as he reported, "Mr. Mercer, the Valencia father and son have been bailed out and their whereabouts are unknown."
"What happened?" Lance's face immediately darkened.
Xavier said in a deep voice, "Chace somehow managed to get immigration documents. He hired a lawyer and exploited a loophole."
Upon hearing this, Lance's expression turned even grimmer.
"The old fox ran away quickly!" he scoffed lightly before instructing, "Send people to investigate. No matter what, we must catch them!"
With Explority Group destroyed, the Valencia father and son would never let him go. Similarly, he would not allow any potential threats to exist.
Xavier nodded and turned to leave.
As he walked out, he encountered Deanna coming in. He greeted her proactively, "Dr. Deanna."
Deanna smiled and nodded, saying, "There is some medicinal cuisine downstairs. Mr. Nelson, you can have some; it's good for health."
"Thank you, Dr. Deanna," Xavier thanked her before quickly heading downstairs.
Deanna carried a bowl of medicinal cuisine porridge back into the study and saw Lance sitting at his desk with an unpleasant expression.
She looked at him with concern and asked, "What's wrong? Did something happen? Why do you look so upset?"
Lance looked at her and decided to explain.
"Do you remember the Valencia family I mentioned to you before?"
"Yes, what about them?" Deanna asked in confusion.
Lance's voice was heavy as he said, "I had sent them to the police station. But because they had completed their immigration procedures, domestic laws couldn't punish them. They exploited a loophole and are now missing."
He paused for a moment before continuing, "Although I've already sent people to track them down, open threats are easy to avoid but hidden ones are hard to guard against. I'm worried they might harm you and the children later on. So I plan to arrange some people to protect you secretly."
After hearing this, Deanna did not refuse. After all, Lance was doing it for their safety.
"As long as it doesn't affect our normal life, you can arrange it as you see fit."
"I understand," Lance nodded before changing the subject. "Is there any place you'd like to visit?"
Deanna responded with a puzzled look.
"I thought since it's rare for us to go abroad, we could take the kids somewhere fun," Lance explained softly.
Deanna was tempted but hesitated. "Won't it interfere with your work?"
She hadn't forgotten that as soon as Lance's condition improved slightly before, he started working again like a model of diligence.
Perhaps seeing through her thoughts, Lance smiled warmly. "I've taken care of most urgent matters; I can take a break for a while."
Deanna was skeptical but didn't say anything more as two little heads peeked around the doorframe.
"Uncle, Mommy, are you done yet?"
"Can you play with us now?"
Hearing this and seeing their cute little faces melted both Lance's and Deanna's hearts.
Lance waved at them with a smile. "Come here; Uncle has something to discuss with you."
"What is it?" The two little ones ran over and leaned on Lance's knees.
Deanna watched without interrupting but sat nearby with her chin resting on her hand as she observed their interaction.
Lance said gently, "I want to take you and your mommy somewhere fun. Is there any place you'd like to go?"
"Uncle wants to take us out? That's great!" The two little ones were instantly excited and began discussing among themselves.
Chloe said eagerly, "I want to go to Disneyland!"
Gregory quickly added, "I want to go to Universal Studios."
Hearing this surprised Deanna since Universal Studios didn't seem like a typical destination for children. Curious, she asked Gregory why he wanted to go there.
"I heard they have the most advanced robots there; I want to see them," Gregory answered honestly with wide eyes.
Lance made a decisive decision upon hearing this. "In that case, we'll visit both places!"
