"I hope the nurse can wake Dr. Deanna soon, or else what will we do with the needles on Lance?"
Bella appeared worried about Lance, but she was actually mocking Deanna for her lack of professionalism, leaving a patient in the middle of treatment.
Samantha, being very perceptive, immediately understood the underlying meaning of Bella's words and frowned.
Just as she was about to speak, Braylon looked over with displeasure.
"Dr. Deanna has been tirelessly treating Lance these past few days. If it weren't for her determination, she would have collapsed long ago. Miss Cody, if you can't speak properly, then don't speak at all. I've been assisting Dr. Deanna these days. Although I haven't learned acupuncture yet, I do know how to remove the needles."
Braylon retorted sharply at Bella.
Bella's expression froze instantly.
"I didn't mean it that way..." She instinctively tried to explain herself.
But before she could finish, Samantha interrupted, "Bella, you've been running around with me these past few days and must be tired. You should go home today."
No way! Bella screamed internally.
She had been coming to the hospital every day to prepare for this moment.
She knew today was Lance's last day of treatment and that he would wake up afterward.
She wanted Lance to know that she had stayed by his side during his coma, hoping it would improve their strained relationship.
"Samantha, I know I was wrong. I didn't mean it that way. Please let me stay. I won't feel at ease until I see Lance wake up." Bella pleaded with Samantha.
Seeing her like this, Samantha softened, "You can stay, but keep your intentions in check."
After speaking, she ignored Bella's frozen expression and instructed the bodyguard outside, "Find a doctor and nurse."
Soon, two doctors and nurses arrived.
"The patient has been having recurring low fevers and fainted from overexertion. I'll have the nurse give her an IV."
After examining Deanna, the doctor informed Samantha and the others.
Samantha nodded and instructed the nurse to set up another bed in the room.
This arrangement was to make it easier to care for both patients.
Once Deanna was settled, Braylon began removing the needles from Lance and cleaning up.
Seeing this, Bella offered, "Dr. Cohen, let me help you."
"You don't know anything. How can you help?"
Braylon retorted again.
Bella clenched her fists in anger but didn't show it on her face.
Samantha glanced at her and said calmly, "Don't disturb Braylon."
Then she turned to Braylon and asked with concern, "Today is the last day of treatment. Dr. Deanna said Lance would wake up today. When will he wake?"
"I'm not sure, but if Dr. Deanna said he would wake today, then he will. We just need to be patient."
Braylon trusted Deanna completely at this moment.
Samantha nodded and said no more.
That evening, Lance slowly woke up.
The bright lights in the room were too much for his eyes after such a long sleep. He tried to raise his hand to shield them.
At that moment, a voice filled with surprise sounded in his ears.
"Lance, you're awake."
Bella had been watching Lance closely and immediately called out when she saw him move.
With her words, Samantha and the two children also looked over excitedly.
"Thank goodness you're awake."
"Uncle Lance, you're finally awake."
Everyone gathered around the bed.
Because of this, Lance didn't immediately notice Deanna lying on the bed next to him.
Seeing his mother and Bella, he frowned, "Why are you all here?"
"You had such a serious accident. How could I not come? If it weren't for your father needing to stay at the company, he would have come too."
Samantha's eyes reddened as she spoke. "Do you know how scared I was? If Dr. Deanna hadn't arrived in time, you wouldn't have made it."
Seeing his mother in tears, Lance comforted her, "Don't cry. I'm fine now."
As he spoke, he looked around but didn't see Deanna and couldn't help but frown, "Where is she?"
"Mommy fell ill saving Uncle," Gregory answered sadly.
Lance immediately became worried, "How is she?"
He struggled to sit up as he spoke.
Samantha quickly pressed him back onto the bed. "Dr. Deanna is fine. The doctor said she's just overworked and needs some rest. She's right next to you; don't move."
"Uncle Lance, don't move around. Mommy is fine now," Chloe also urged while stepping aside to reveal Deanna's bed.
Seeing Deanna sleeping peacefully on the bed next to him, Lance finally felt relieved.
