Chapter 400: Deanna Was Thrown into the Sea

In the bright living room, Chace and Logan faced off with equal intensity.

Logan's face was dark with anger. "Chace, are you really not going to hand over your son?"

"I told you, if you want me to hand over my son, you need to provide concrete evidence. Otherwise, I won't let him come out," Chace replied clearly.

Despite his composed exterior, Chace was not as calm as he appeared. If one looked closely, they would notice his hand behind his back trembling slightly.

Logan had no evidence, but that didn't mean he would give up. "Search the place!" he ordered his bodyguards.

Chace couldn't believe Logan would go this far. He shouted angrily, "How dare you!"

"Watch me!" Logan sneered coldly and issued the command again to his bodyguards.

The bodyguards nodded and dispersed to search for Alonso.

Meanwhile, Deanna, who had been kidnapped, woke up groggily and felt disoriented. It took her a moment to realize she had been abducted.

She was inside a burlap sack, and through its gaps, she could vaguely see she was in a modified van. She tried to struggle but only managed to topple herself over, hitting the floor of the van with a thud.

At that moment, she heard voices. "Eagle, the woman is awake."

Following this, Deanna saw a foot coming toward her. She instinctively protected her head and let out a muffled groan as the kick landed on her elbow, causing sharp pain.

Then a cold voice spoke. "Tie the sack tighter. Don't let her loosen it. As per the employer's request, throw her into the sea."

"Why not just kill her?" The man who had kicked her spoke gruffly, seemingly dissatisfied with Eagle's plan.

Unbeknownst to them, Deanna was terrified and puzzled by their conversation. Why did they want to kill her?

"Killing her outright would be too easy. Letting her suffocate slowly will avenge Lone Wolf," Eagle's voice replied.

The other man laughed heartily. "You really know how to hit where it hurts. From what I hear, this woman is someone Lance cares about. Knowing she died because of him will torment him enough."

Deanna was horrified. These men were connected to those who had attacked Lance before. Fear and panic gripped her as she trembled uncontrollably. She bit her tongue hard to stay focused.

With Lance still unconscious from poisoning, she couldn't rely on anyone else to save her. She had to find a way to escape on her own.

Fortunately, the kidnappers hadn't tied her up, perhaps confident in their control over her. This allowed Deanna some freedom of movement inside the sack.

She felt around and found an eyebrow trimmer in her jacket pocket. An escape plan formed in her mind.

Since they intended to throw her into the sea, she would use the trimmer to cut open the sack when the time came.

As she was deep in thought, another kick landed on her body, accompanied by an irritated voice. "Stay still, or I'll send you to meet your maker right now!"

Deanna bit her lip and stayed still. After some time, she felt the vehicle come to a stop.

She was lifted up, and the sensation of being suspended was uncomfortable. Curled up inside the sack, she tensed up completely.

The smell of the sea grew stronger in the air, and Deanna clenched her fists tightly in fear but forced herself to stay calm.

She pulled out the small scissors from her bag and began cutting the sack in an inconspicuous spot.

Even so, when she was thrown out, the sudden loss of balance left her mind blank for a moment.

Cold seawater seeped into the sack, snapping her back to reality. She gripped the eyebrow trimmer tightly and continued cutting through the sack despite her blurred vision.

Her attempts were initially unsuccessful due to her anxiety. Her chest tightened as oxygen ran out, but her will to survive forced her to stay calm.

After several minutes, Deanna finally surfaced, gasping for air like someone who had been starved of oxygen.

She scanned her surroundings quickly. She had opened the sack earlier but swam some distance away before surfacing to avoid detection by the kidnappers.

She found herself near a cliffside in what seemed like a suburban area. From the sea, she spotted a dock about a kilometer away with boats moored there.

Seeing this gave Deanna a sense of relief. Where there was a dock, there were people; where there were people, there was a way back.

Despite narrowly escaping death, her mind was preoccupied with Lance's treatment.
