Under the warm light, Deanna and Lance appeared a bit nervous in the private room. However, their eyes revealed emotions of anticipation and a hint of sweetness.
Just as Lance was about to continue speaking, his phone rang. He frowned, initially intending to ignore it, but seeing that it was his mother calling, he had to answer.
"What's wrong?"
"Lance, you need to come back quickly. Your father is ill."
Samantha's panicked voice came through the phone. Lance's expression turned serious immediately. "I understand. I'll come back right away."
After hanging up, he looked apologetically at Deanna. "Sorry, my father is sick. I need to go back immediately."
"In that case, why don't I go with you and check on Mr. Mercer as well?" Deanna suggested, though she couldn't hide her disappointment inside.
Lance didn't notice her disappointment. He thought for a moment and didn't refuse her offer. They headed back to the old mansion together.
Upon arrival, Samantha saw Deanna and frowned slightly but said nothing. Lance followed her into the bedroom and saw his father looking somewhat haggard, sitting on the bed. "Why didn't you go to the hospital for a check-up?" he asked with a frown.
"Your father refuses to go, saying he doesn't want to smell the disinfectant in the hospital. Try to persuade him," Samantha said, casting a helpless glance at her husband.
Logan saw this and said calmly to Lance, "It's nothing serious. I just drank too much during socializing today, and my old problem flared up. Your mother is overreacting by calling you back."
"It's not nothing! The doctor said if you don't quit drinking, you might get a stomach perforation next time!" Samantha was furious about this issue.
Watching the old couple bicker, Lance didn't know what to say. Deanna, however, felt quite touched by the scene.
She tilted her head slightly and asked Lance, "Does Mr. Mercer have a stomach condition?"
"Yes, he loves drinking. The doctor advised him to quit, but he just can't," Lance replied, shaking his head.
Deanna thought for a moment and offered, "How about I help Mr. Mercer with some treatment? While I can't guarantee a cure, it will allow him to drink occasionally without affecting his health."
Although she spoke softly, Samantha heard some of it. "Can you really do that?" she asked skeptically, eyeing Deanna with suspicion.
"Of course she can. Otherwise, I wouldn't be standing here talking to you," Lance replied before Deanna could speak.
Then he looked down at Deanna beside him and said gently, "I'll leave my father to your care."
Deanna gave him a sweet smile. "Don't worry."
Logan's condition was serious but not critical. As the doctor had diagnosed earlier, if not properly managed, it could indeed lead to a stomach perforation next time.
After understanding Logan's situation, Deanna finished taking his pulse. "Mr. Mercer, your stomach condition is indeed severe. However, as I mentioned earlier, if you follow my treatment plan, you can drink occasionally without your old ailment recurring. Are you willing to cooperate?"
She looked at Logan with serious eyes, as steady as a seasoned doctor with decades of experience.
Logan was surprised by her aura and, after thinking for a moment, asked slowly, "Are you sure it won't affect my drinking later?"
"Yes, but during this period, you must control yourself-no drinking or eating spicy foods. Follow the diet plan I provide for three meals a day," Deanna assured him with a nod.
Samantha couldn't help but ask, "How long will this take?"
"If Mr. Mercer controls himself well, one month will suffice; otherwise, it may take longer," Deanna explained honestly.
The couple found one month acceptable. Seeing this, Lance smiled at Deanna and said, "I'll take you to the study to write the prescription."
Deanna nodded and quickly followed him out.
Later that evening, after writing the prescription and medicinal cuisine recipes, Deanna carefully explained the dosages and methods to Samantha.
Finally, she took out a few more medicinal cuisine recipes and handed them to Samantha. "Mrs. Mercer, I noticed that your energy and blood circulation are not very good, so I took the liberty of writing two recipes for you as well. They can help improve your energy and have beauty benefits."
Samantha was surprised but didn't refuse. Although she accepted Deanna's recipes, she said sharply, "Don't think this will make me approve of your relationship with Lance."
"Mom!" Lance frowned immediately, looking very displeased.
Samantha glanced at him but said nothing more.
Deanna felt a bit disappointed but not too upset since she had always known Samantha's attitude towards her.
Not long after, Lance took Deanna away from the old mansion.
