Lance's face darkened immediately, and he spoke firmly, "No, you can't go!"
"Then cut off all contact with her!" Samantha demanded.
Lance naturally couldn't agree. He frowned and refused, "I won't separate from her, so don't waste your efforts."
"Why?" Samantha was furious and puzzled. "What do you see in that woman?!"
Seeing that his mother wouldn't give up today, Lance fell silent, contemplating whether to tell the truth.
As he pondered, Samantha issued another ultimatum, "Either you explain everything to me today, or don't blame me for going to find Deanna!"
Hearing this, Lance knew he couldn't hide it any longer. He sighed and said, "Alright, I'll tell you."
Samantha looked over, waiting expectantly.
Lance spoke honestly, "The Deanna you've always despised actually gave birth to two of my children."
This revelation hit Samantha like a thunderclap, leaving her stunned for a long time.
"What do you mean by that?" Samantha asked again in disbelief.
Lance understood her skepticism and patiently repeated, "Deanna's two children are mine."
"How is that possible?!" Samantha was shocked, clearly not believing Lance.
She immediately showed her discontent and scolded, "Do you think claiming the children are yours will make me accept your relationship with Deanna? I'm old, but I'm not senile!"
Seeing his mother's disbelief, Lance remained calm. "I know you don't believe me, but it's the truth."
He continued calmly, "I have DNA test results for both children. If you don't believe me, I can show them to you."
As he spoke, he took a document from a drawer and handed it over.
Samantha didn't believe it at first and took the document to examine it.
Initially, she suspected the test results might be forged by Lance. But when she saw the official seal on the document, she realized it was genuine.
The results left her speechless for a long time.
"How could this be?" she murmured in disbelief.
Lance heard her and explained, "Do you remember five years ago when I was drugged and slept with a strange woman during a business engagement?"
"That time?" Samantha looked at him in surprise.
Lance nodded. "Yes, after that, Deanna got pregnant, gave birth to our children and raised them alone for years. I owe them a lot. To this day, I still don't know how to explain it all. Especially considering the complexity of the situation back then, which I'm sure you've heard about regarding the Jones family. So I hope you won't disturb them."
He ended his explanation with a tone of pleading.
Then he added in defense of Deanna, "Also, during this period, I've been receiving treatment from Deanna, and my health has been improving. So don't underestimate her."
Unfortunately, Samantha didn't hear this part. She was still processing the shock of gaining two grandchildren.
At that moment, the office door opened again, and Logan walked in with Xavier looking worried behind him.
Xavier had seen Samantha storm into the office and feared a confrontation between mother and son. So he smartly went to fetch Logan for help.
Logan had been worried about a potential argument but was surprised by the peaceful scene before him.
"You didn't argue?" he asked Lance in confusion.
Samantha snapped out of her daze and glared at Logan. "What, were you hoping we'd argue?"
"Of course not," Logan quickly denied, shaking his head.
After speaking, he glanced disapprovingly at Xavier as if blaming him for false alarm.
Xavier understood and could only smile awkwardly. He was also puzzled about how Mr. Mercer had managed to calm down Mrs. Mercer.
Just as he wondered about it, the mystery was soon revealed.
Samantha walked over to Logan with a joyful expression. "Logan, we have grandchildren-two of them!"
She said this while holding up two fingers happily.
Logan was stunned. "What grandchildren? What are you talking about?"
He looked at her in confusion.
Samantha handed him the test results. "Look at this."
Logan took the document and examined it, becoming even more bewildered.
"This... is this real?" He looked up at Lance in disbelief. "You have two children?"
"Yes. If you don't believe me, you can ask Xavier. He supervised the testing process," Lance confirmed.
Logan instinctively looked at Xavier.
Before he could speak, Xavier admitted proactively, "Chairman, it's true. Dr. Deanna's two children are Mr. Mercer's."
