Lance heard the words and remained silent for a moment, but his response was unrelated. "You'll understand this later." He implied that he didn't want to say more at the moment.
Amy found it both amusing and frustrating, but she had already guessed what was going on. "Fine, if you won't tell me, I'll go play with my nephew and niece."
With that, she quickly caught up with Deanna and her two children, chatting and laughing with them.
Lance watched, feeling uneasy. He couldn't shake the feeling that his unreliable aunt might mess things up for him. He regretted bringing Deanna and her children to meet his aunt.
During the meal, Amy took good care of Deanna and the children. Her enthusiasm was a bit overwhelming for Deanna, but she didn't think much of it. After all, Amy had been very friendly from their first meeting.
As they chatted, the conversation naturally turned to their plans for the afternoon. "Where do you plan to go this afternoon?" Amy asked Deanna.
Deanna instinctively looked at Lance. Amy noticed and raised an eyebrow, also looking at Lance. Lance met their gazes calmly and said, "Aunt, if you know any fun places, feel free to recommend them."
"So, you haven't planned anything for the afternoon? In that case, let me take you to a fashion show," Amy suggested immediately.
Lance did not object. Naturally, Deanna had no reason to refuse either.
Later, after finishing their meal, they headed straight to the fashion show. Since Amy was one of the designers exhibiting, she had to start working upon arrival. She left her assistant to guide Lance and Deanna with her children to their seats.
The four of them stood out due to their striking looks and unique aura, drawing appreciative glances from the surrounding staff.
Time passed quickly, and soon an hour had gone by. The show was about to begin as guests started to arrive. Deanna recognized one or two famous designers she had seen in fashion magazines, which made her look forward to the show even more. After all, no woman dislikes beautiful clothes.
While she was lost in thought, a gentle female voice suddenly spoke beside her. "Beautiful lady, may I have a word with you?"
A stylish elderly woman with white hair stood by Deanna's left side. Deanna was surprised and then puzzled. She pointed at herself uncertainly and asked, "Are you talking to me?"
She didn't recognize the elderly woman. Suddenly, there were exclamations around her.
"Oh my God, it's Erin Bradley."
"There were rumors that Erin would come to the show today; I can't believe it's true."
"The woman Erin is talking to is so lucky; she must be Erin's next model."
Hearing these comments, Deanna guessed that the elderly woman was someone significant. As she pondered this, the elderly woman smiled and nodded. "Yes, I'm talking to you. May I sit down and chat with you?"
"Uh... sure," Deanna hesitated but nodded.
Lance was quite surprised to see Erin sitting next to Deanna. Because of Amy, he knew a bit about the fashion world. Erin was the founder of the internationally renowned brand Nacoco and one of the top designers globally. Every piece she designed was a classic, unmatched by others. Moreover, she had an eye for talent; any model she invited would eventually become an international supermodel.
Thinking of this, Lance raised an eyebrow as he watched Erin introduce herself to Deanna. Was Erin planning to invite Deanna to be her model? Indeed, that was the case.
After introducing herself, Erin got straight to the point. "I love your family's aura and good looks; you're perfect for my latest design collection. So I'd like to invite you, your husband, and your two children to shoot an advertisement for my work."
Deanna was stunned. She was so lucky a top figure in the fashion world inviting her to be a model. Though shocked, she quickly composed herself and said awkwardly, "Ma'am, thank you for your appreciation, but we are not a couple; we're just friends. Besides, we are not models and might not be suitable for an advertisement."
Erin was surprised by this response. "You're not a couple? I've been observing you for a while; you seem very in sync and affectionate."
Deanna didn't know how to respond and couldn't help but wonder if her interactions with Mr. Mercer were really that misleading.
Seeing Deanna's silence, Erin didn't want to give up and continued persuading her. "It doesn't matter if you're not a couple; many models who work together aren't couples either. And I don't limit my advertisements to professional models; sometimes amateurs can better highlight my designs' features. By the way, I haven't told you about my work yet. This time, it's a family series of wedding dresses."
