Bella was shocked when she heard the news.
"What did you say? Those two brats weren't kicked out?"
She asked again, not believing it.
The person on the phone confirmed, "Yes, they weren't kicked out. It's said that Mr. Mercer and Mrs. Mercer had a big argument."
Bella gritted her teeth.
She didn't expect Lance to stand up to Samantha and Logan for Deanna.
Did this mean Lance was serious about his relationship with Deanna?
The thought made her even more resentful.
Why did Deanna deserve Lance's love?
...
The next morning at Hencard Villa, Lance was having breakfast with the two little ones.
During the meal, Gregory couldn't help but ask, "Uncle, can we see Mommy today?"
"I miss Mommy," Chloe also looked over eagerly.
Seeing this, Lance naturally didn't refuse and nodded in agreement. "Alright, after school today, Uncle will take you to see Mommy. How about that?"
"Okay, thank you, Uncle."
Gregory smiled faintly and thanked him politely, but there was a hint of distance in his tone.
Lance noticed it and felt a bit bitter inside.
Since his parents left yesterday, the little guy's attitude towards him had changed.
Even Chloe, who was usually very attached to him, had become more reserved.
Thinking about this, Lance felt helpless and didn't know how to change it.
In the end, he pretended not to notice anything and finished breakfast with the two little ones before heading to the company.
After all, he hadn't been to the company for several days and there was a pile of things waiting for him to handle.
Around noon, Xavier knocked on the door and walked in.
Standing in the middle of the room, he respectfully reported, "Mr. Mercer, there's news from the hospital. Ricky's mother has woken up. She is out of danger and has been transferred to a general ward, but she still needs long-term treatment."
Almost immediately upon hearing this, a dark gleam flashed in Lance's eyes.
"Prepare the car. We're going to the hospital."
"Yes."
Xavier nodded and went to the garage.
Half an hour later, they arrived at the hospital and went to the old lady's ward.
Before they even entered, they heard a doctor scolding inside.
"What's wrong with you as a son? Didn't I tell you that the patient has just started to improve and can't be agitated? Can you be more careful?"
"I'm sorry, doctor. It's my fault. Please make sure to treat my mother."
Ricky apologized with a smirk but showed no real remorse.
If it weren't for Ricky feeling that his old and useless mother still has some use, with his temperament, he wouldn't grovel so humbly to others. After all, his mother took care of his children and made money to support their livelihood, allowing him to live a carefree life.
The doctor read his mind and shook his head. After giving some instructions to the nurse, he turned and left the ward.
As soon as he stepped out, he saw Lance and Xavier standing at the door.
The doctor wasn't unfamiliar with them since Lance had brought Xavier over before to check on the old lady's condition.
"Mr. Mercer, Mr. Nelson, you're here."
The doctor greeted them proactively.
Lance asked in a deep voice, "I heard the old lady woke up. What's her condition now?"
"The patient did wake up but got into an argument with her son and fainted again."
The doctor didn't hide anything and told the truth.
A sharp light flashed in Lance's eyes. "When will she wake up again?"
"It's uncertain. It could be soon or it might take a long time," the doctor replied uncertainly.
Hearing this, Lance frowned.
Noticing this, Xavier tactfully escorted the doctor away to see if he could gather more information.
Lance didn't stop him.
After watching them walk away, Lance pushed open the door and entered the ward.
Inside, he saw Ricky lounging on the sofa playing with his phone.
On the bed, the old lady lay unconscious with a pale face and chapped lips, indicating how neglected she was.
At this moment, Ricky noticed Lance and jumped up from the sofa in shock.
"What are you doing here?"
He looked over with a guarded expression.
Lance glanced at him indifferently. "I heard your mother woke up. I came to check on her."
Hearing this, Ricky was first surprised but then forced himself to stay calm. "My mother doesn't need your concern. The last people she wants to see are you. Leave now!"
As he spoke, he reached out to push Lance.
But Lance wouldn't let him touch him. He grabbed Ricky's wrist and twisted it forcefully.
"Ouch! Let go of me!"
Ricky cried out in pain.
Lance looked at him coldly without any intention of letting go.
Perhaps it was because of Ricky's loud voice or something else, but the old lady suddenly woke up from her coma.
Seeing the scene before her, she coughed and asked, "What are you doing?"
Lance glanced at her and then at Ricky before releasing his grip and walking over to the bedside. He got straight to the point.
"I'm a friend of Dr. Deanna who treated you. I want to know if you really got sick from taking Dr. Deanna's medicine?"
