Watching the man patiently and attentively explain things online to the two little ones, Deanna felt her mood, which had been bad for two or three days, suddenly improve.
At the same time, she felt puzzled, not understanding why she had such emotions.
Lance, unaware of this, also felt a sense of relief after calming the two little ones.
At this moment, Deanna noticed the tired look on Lance's face and remembered that he had said he came over right after getting off the plane without proper rest, which made her worry.
"Your complexion doesn't look good. Have you not been resting well these past few days?"
"It's not like that." Lance clearly didn't want to say much.
Seeing this, Deanna didn't ask further. Instead, she offered, "Since you're here, let me give you a treatment."
Lance did not refuse. He was indeed very tired.
Xavier, seeing the situation, sensibly offered to take the children to school.
In the room, Deanna was giving Lance a treatment.
Lance lay on Deanna's bed, inhaling her unique fragrance from the bedding, feeling utterly relaxed and indescribably content.
Unconsciously, he fell asleep on the bed.
Seeing the man asleep, Deanna didn't disturb him.
After finishing the acupuncture, she quietly left the room.
Old Ashley noticed her coming out and gave a meaningful smile, asking, "Where's Mr. Mercer?"
"He's asleep inside."
Deanna answered honestly, unaware of anything.
Old Ashley nodded, noticing her granddaughter was in a good mood, humming as she started to work.
Of course, she didn't expose her, instead helping her sort out the medicinal herbs at home.
Time ticked by, and Lance slept until evening.
Upon waking, he saw the two little ones staring at him by the bed but didn't see Deanna.
"Where's your mommy?"
He asked in a hoarse voice.
Chloe, supporting her chin, replied in a sweet voice, "Mommy is cooking. Uncle, you really can sleep. Mommy said you slept the whole day."
"Really? Then how about I get up and play with you?"
Lance rubbed the little girl's head and smiled, then got up.
After a simple wash, the three of them went out like a father and his children.
In the living room, there was a faint aroma of food in the air.
He saw two delicious dishes already set on the dining table.
Through the glass door of the kitchen, Lance could see the busy figure inside, his eyes softening, feeling a sense of home.
Later, Deanna finished cooking and called everyone to eat.
During the meal, she asked with concern, "Mr. Mercer, how do you feel now?"
"I feel great, very relaxed."
Lance said, looking at her with gentle eyes.
Deanna nodded, then in a slightly educative tone, said, "It's good that you're feeling better, but next time you must take care of your health. According to my diagnosis, you've been staying up for at least two days. You need to know that you're in a recuperation phase. Only by getting your body to its best state can I proceed with further treatment."
Before Lance could respond, the two little ones chimed in.
"Uncle, you need to listen to mommy and take care of your health."
"Yeah, mommy likes obedient men!"
Gregory said, winking at Lance as if hinting at something.
Lance was momentarily stunned but then promised with a smile, "Alright, I'll be obedient from now on."
Deanna didn't know why, but hearing this made her feel like it had a double meaning, and her heart began to race.
She glared at her son, signaling him not to talk nonsense.
Gregory, seeing he was being scolded, playfully stuck out his tongue and covered his mouth, indicating he wouldn't say anything more.
After dinner, Lance played with the kids for a while before saying goodbye.
Before leaving, he reminded Deanna once more, "Don't read the news online. I'll handle it as soon as possible."
Deanna felt puzzled, not understanding why he brought this up again, but she couldn't help feeling a surge of joy inside and nodded in agreement.
After seeing Lance off, she took the two kids to wash up and go to bed.
During this time, the kids noticed her smiling face and deliberately said, "Mommy looks much happier today. Is it because Uncle Lance came over?"
Deanna was momentarily stunned but then understood what they meant and laughed.
"Nonsense, I'm always in a good mood; no one can put it damper on it."
Unexpectedly, the kids retorted, "Come on, you didn't smile these past two days when Uncle Lance wasn't here."
Deanna didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "Can you really tell my mood?"
"Of course, mommy was making mistakes while sorting herbs and daydreaming. Something was obviously wrong."
Gregory nodded affirmatively.
Deanna was speechless because she indeed had been a bit distracted the past two days and often made mistakes sorting herbs.
Could it really be because of Lance?
But why?
Unable to figure it out, Deanna had trouble sleeping that night...
