Chapter 25 Extraordinary Intelligence

Xavier keenly noticed her reaction and was somewhat surprised.

If it were anyone else, knowing Mr. Mercer's prestigious status, they would have rushed to flatter him.

But Miss Jones seemed merely surprised, not overly so, and quickly regained her composure.

He wondered if she understood what this status represented.

Despite his curiosity, he didn't want to boast about it.

Having spent a long time in the business world, he knew it was better to stay low-key.

Meanwhile, Deanna had finished administering the needles.

She carefully checked to ensure each needle was applied with the right pressure.

Breathing a sigh of relief, she stood up.

"It's done. Don't touch the needles on his back. I'll come back in half an hour to remove them," Deanna said with a gracious and elegant smile to Xavier.

Then she instructed the two children, "Chloe, come with Mommy to prepare the medicine. Gregory, stay here and keep an eye on the time. Call me when it's time."

The two children nodded obediently. She took Chloe's soft little hand and left the bedroom.

Gregory watched them leave and then went to the living room.

When he returned, he had a stopwatch and a toy in his hands.

Gregory placed the stopwatch on the bedside table and sat in a chair nearby.

He picked up a ten-layer Rubik's Cube and started playing with it silently.

His hands moved quickly, scrambling the cube of different colors.

Lance, lying on the bed, felt bored and looked around. His gaze fell on the boy's actions.

He squinted his eyes and watched closely.

The child's speed was astonishing. Though it seemed chaotic, there was a method to it; every move was calculated.

Xavier was already staring in amazement, dumbfounded.

A completely scrambled ten-layer Rubik's Cube-most adults couldn't solve it.

This kid restored it in just three minutes.

What kind of extraordinary intelligence was this!

Gregory remained unaware of their astonishment. He set the Rubik's Cube aside, thinking it wasn't anything remarkable.

Lance asked him, "How long have you been playing with that?"

Gregory thought for a moment and calmly replied, "A few months."

"Oh?" Lance was slightly surprised. "Who taught you?"

Gregory looked puzzled. "Does this need teaching?"

Isn't it just scrambling and then restoring it? He had reached this level after playing for a few days.

Xavier didn't hide his surprise. Was there really such a talented child?

"Doesn't this require some skill?" he asked.

Gregory shrugged. "Once you find its pattern, you can restore it quickly. No special skill needed."

He added, "Even my sister can do it."

Xavier suddenly felt a bit ashamed that he wasn't as capable as two four or five-year-olds.

Lance thought this child was very different from others.

He seemed unusually mature and wise for his age.

Unexpectedly, coming here for treatment, he encountered such an interesting child.

He couldn't help but smile and continued chatting with him. "If you find the Rubik's Cube boring, you can try something else with a higher difficulty level. Like Lego, building blocks, or puzzles."

Gregory, also bored, decided to chat to pass the time.

He pouted. "I've mastered those simple ones. I've even completed high-difficulty puzzles. 1000 COLOURS, a CMYK color gamut jigsaw puzzle of 1000 pieces, was a gift from my godmother."

Xavier had heard of that puzzle; it was known for its high difficulty level.

And he had completed it.

"What about Lego? Have you played with that?" Lance raised an eyebrow and asked him.

Gregory puffed out his cheeks and shook his head.

"Don't you want to? Lego is very interesting," Xavier asked curiously. With his intelligence, he probably wouldn't struggle with Lego either.

"I do want to, but a set of Lego costs a lot of money. Mommy works hard to support us. We don't have extra money to buy it," Gregory sighed, feeling regretful about not being able to play with Lego and worried about their financial situation at home.

Lance and Xavier were silent, taking in the modest surroundings. Although the house was warmly decorated, the facilities were old.

Since entering this house, they hadn't seen any luxury items.

The furniture consisted of practical necessities, all clearly inexpensive.

They had climbed stairs to get here; there wasn't even an elevator.

In this city, there were luxurious residential buildings. Miss Jones chose to live here, indicating financial constraints.

Xavier felt a pang of sympathy for these two highly intelligent children.

With proper nurturing, they could achieve great things.

Lance's heart softened. He couldn't help but say to Gregory, "Next time we meet, I'll bring you a Lego set."

Xavier glanced curiously at Mr. Mercer before looking away again.

Gregory's eyes lit up; that was the Lego set he had wanted for so long!

But after thinking for a moment, he shook his head. "Mommy said we shouldn't accept gifts from others."
