Chapter 239 The Two Little Ones Were Disappointed

In the car, Lance was indeed displeased. He had never had a sex dream in his life. But now, he did after seeing Deanna's naked body.

At the thought of this, many emotions flooded his heart. As a result, his mood was bad all morning. The most obvious ones to feel it were the senior employees of Mercer Group.

"What kind of proposal is this? Problems everywhere, even basic common sense errors. Does your ability match your degree and position?"

"Why did last month's project exceed the budget so much? Where is the project leader? Call them in!"

"I sent you to negotiate a project, not to take people on a trip!"

In the spacious and bright office, Lance's reprimanding voice was heard from time to time. Xavier stood outside the door, expressionless. However, the other senior executives around him all shrank their necks. How terrifying, Mr. Mercer had turned into a "tyrannosaurus" again.

Finally, someone couldn't help but ask Xavier, "Mr. Nelson, what's wrong with Mr. Mercer today? Why is he so angry?"

As soon as these words came out, the others also looked over curiously. Xavier glanced at them and said faintly, "A man with unmet desires, do you think he wouldn't be angry?"

"Unmet desires?" The other senior executives were stunned. Wasn't Mr. Mercer single? No, with Mr. Mercer's status and position, is there any woman in this world who would refuse him? Of course, what they were most curious about was, who was that woman?

However, before they could continue asking, they were seen through by Xavier, who smiled faintly and said, "Instead of gossiping here, why don't you check if there are any mistakes in the documents in your hands?"

Almost as soon as these words fell, Lance's cold voice came from the office. "Engineering Department, come in." Hearing this, Xavier looked at the named engineering department manager beside him and smiled faintly, "Brother, good luck."

Perhaps because almost all department heads were reprimanded by Lance one by one in the morning, other employees in the company also became nervous and worked cautiously.

That afternoon, Lance went out to meet a client temporarily. Unexpectedly, as soon as he went downstairs, he ran into his father who had just returned from outside. Logan Mercer looked at Lance's bad complexion and asked with concern, "What's wrong with you? Why do you look so bad?"

"I'm fine," Lance said lightly.

However, Logan didn't believe him. After all, as a father, he knew his son's character well. Moreover, Logan looked at Lance's appearance and didn't think he was fine.

He immediately frowned and thought of the rumors he heard within the company this morning and spoke earnestly, "No one is perfect. You've done very well already. Don't put too much pressure on yourself. If you're too tired, it's okay to take a break occasionally."

"I know," Lance said, raising his hand tiredly to rub his temples.

Seeing this, Logan wanted to say something more. But before he could speak, Lance anticipated it and interrupted him, "I'm running out of time. I have a client to meet later. We'll talk when we have time."

Helplessly, Logan could only sigh and wave him off.

For the next two days, whether intentionally or not, Lance and Deanna didn't meet each other. This was a relief for both of them but difficult for Chloe and Gregory.

After all, the two little ones had gotten used to Lance's company recently.

That evening, when the two little ones saw their mommy picking them up from school, they couldn't help but ask about Lance.

"Mommy, will Uncle Lance come for treatment today?" Gregory asked, looking up with big black-and-white eyes at Deanna.

Chloe also looked over expectantly.

The smile on Deanna's face froze for a moment. Obviously, she didn't expect the two little ones to bring up Lance so suddenly.

And these past two days, to forget about that night, she had deliberately tried to forget about Lance.

"Mommy?" Seeing their mommy not speaking for a long time, Gregory asked again in confusion.

Deanna snapped back to reality and said with an unchanged smile, "Mr. Mercer won't come today. He told me earlier that he has things to do these days."

Hearing this, the two little ones were very disappointed.

Seeing this, Deanna felt a bit guilty and immediately changed the topic to distract them.

Fortunately, they were children after all and soon forgot about it and smiled again.

This made Deanna, who had been watching them closely, breathe a sigh of relief.

On the third day, after resting at home for two days, Deanna finally felt fully recharged. Thinking that she hadn't visited the hilltop estate for many days, she planned to check on those precious herbs.

Just as she got into the car, she received a call from Landon Sherman.

"Hello, my little cousin. It's been a while since we last talked. Have you missed me?"

"Not at all," Deanna replied mercilessly.

Landon was immediately left speechless and said plaintively, "You heartless girl! I went through so much trouble to find someone for you. I finally got some news and contacted you first thing. And this is how you treat me? I'm telling you if you don't bring me a cake as an apology gift, I won't tell you the result."
