After a while, Deanna and Lance walked out from inside.
Old Hughes noticed them, a knowing smile flashing in his wise eyes.
He could tell that Deanna's emotions had stabilized.
It was evident that Lance had something to do with her quick recovery.
The free clinical treatment in the afternoon continued.
As Lance had promised, he arranged for several bodyguards to maintain order for Deanna.
Because of this, many people present were intimidated and became very orderly and polite.
Of course, it was Deanna's excellent medical skills that truly won them over.
"You have chronic leg pain. It's hard to cure completely, but I can use acupuncture along with medication and herbal foot soaks to alleviate it and improve your condition during rainy days."
"Your stomach issues are due to poor maintenance and irregular meals when you were younger. This has led to a decline in your stomach function. The only way to improve it is through dietary therapy combined with medication, and long-term control of your diet. If you can do these three things, I'll prescribe medication for you. Otherwise, even if I prescribe it, it won't help."
"Frequent dizziness, chest tightness, and shortness of breath? Give me your hand, and I'll check your pulse."
All afternoon, Deanna encountered various ailments, so busy that she didn't even have time to drink water.
Finally, by evening, the free clinical treatment ended. She was so exhausted that she slumped into a chair, not wanting to move.
Old Hughes felt a bit guilty as he watched her.
To test Deanna's medical skills, he had deliberately asked Ava to assign her some difficult cases.
"You've worked hard today. I'll have someone take you home so you can rest well."
"Thank you, Old Hughes."
Deanna did not refuse.
Unexpectedly, Old Hughes turned to Lance and said with a smile, "Lance, you'll be responsible for taking Anna home. Make sure she gets there safely."
Lance glanced at Deanna resting in the chair and nodded.
Deanna couldn't help but smile but said nothing.
Soon, the two left the clinic.
Efrain finally realized what had been bothering him.
Lance seemed to be treating Miss Jones exceptionally well.
Comforting her when she was upset and arranging bodyguards during the free clinical treatment.
Even as Lance's close friend, Efrain hadn't received such care from him.
Efrain felt a great deal of suspicion.
He looked at Old Hughes, who was smiling slyly beside him, and couldn't help but ask, "Why did you arrange for Lance to take Dr. Deanna home? Doesn't the clinic have drivers?"
"Because I wanted to."
Old Hughes gave him a look.
Efrain frowned, feeling that something was off.
Perhaps seeing his confusion or wanting to share his thoughts, Old Hughes said, "Don't you think they make a good match standing together?"
Efrain was stunned.
When he came to his senses, he looked at Old Hughes in surprise.
Clearly, he hadn't expected Old Hughes to have such an idea and found it both amusing and surprising.
"In terms of appearance, Dr. Deanna and Lance do look quite compatible."
He agreed with Old Hughes first but then shared his thoughts. "But in other aspects, it might be difficult for them to be together."
Old Hughes disagreed strongly.
He glared at Efrain and said with a slightly uncertain tone, "I think Dr. Deanna is quite good. She has looks and ability. As long as they both want it, why would it be difficult?"
Efrain was taken aback by Old Hughes' strong reaction.
Before he could say anything, Old Hughes continued, "Besides, if Lance marries Anna, it would be his good fortune. And if he does marry Anna, we would benefit too!"
Efrain felt like he couldn't keep up with Old Hughes' thinking.
"Lance marrying Miss Jones might be fortunate for him, but what does that have to do with us?"
He looked puzzled.
Old Hughes snorted and retorted, "How does it not? Let me tell you, that girl knows ancient medical art!"
Hearing this, Efrain found it amusing. "So you're interested in Dr. Deanna's medical skills."
"So what if I am?"
Old Hughes didn't deny it and continued rubbing his hands together. "That girl has many good things hidden. If she becomes Lance's wife, I can openly consult with her. Just from today alone, I feel I've learned a lot!"
Efrain looked at Old Hughes in surprise.
It was the first time he had seen Old Hughes show such an expression. But thinking about what he had seen today, he could understand.
If it were him, he would be just as tempted.
On the other side, Deanna was genuinely exhausted.
On the way back, she leaned against the seat and unknowingly fell asleep, her body unconsciously leaning towards Lance.
Feeling the weight on his shoulder, Lance slightly turned his head and saw the woman sleeping soundly. A touch of tenderness flashed in his dark eyes.
Later that night, they arrived home.
Lance didn't wake Deanna; he simply carried her out of the car.
And Deanna slept so soundly that she didn't feel a thing.
