Chapter 208 Thankfully, You Didn't Catch a Fever

Deanna was pulled out of the club by Lance.

She looked at the cold and distant man, not understanding what was wrong with him.

As they were about to leave the club, she remembered her friend still inside and quickly grabbed Lance's arm. "Mr. Mercer, wait, my friend is still in there."

"Then tell her you're leaving first," Lance said firmly, leaving no room for refusal.

Deanna frowned slightly but said nothing. She did want to leave, so she took out her phone and called her friend.

"Julia, something came up, I have to go."

She expected Julia to ask why she was leaving and had already prepared an excuse.

Unexpectedly, Julia simply laughed and agreed, "Okay, you can go."

Deanna was a bit stunned.

Before she could say anything else, Julia hung up the phone.

Meanwhile, at the social event, Julia was sending a mischievous message to the two little ones.

"Good news, Mr. Mercer came and took your mommy away. Hehe, I think there's something going on between your mommy and Mr. Mercer!"

Almost immediately after sending the message, the two little ones replied, "Great!"

It turned out that the two little ones and Julia had planned this together.

Julia was responsible for bringing Deanna to the event, while they managed to get Lance there.

Now that Lance had arrived, they were sure he had some special feelings for Deanna, even if she hadn't noticed it herself.

Putting down their phones, the two little ones huddled together happily.

"Brother, Uncle Lance really went to find Mommy. Do you think he will become our daddy soon?" Chloe looked at her brother with hopeful eyes.

Gregory thought things wouldn't progress that quickly. He knew their mommy's personality well.

"I don't think it will be that fast. Mommy is quite slow to realize things. From what Godmother told us, I don't think Mommy knows Uncle Lance came specifically for her."

"Ah, how can Mommy be so dense?" Chloe pouted but then her eyes lit up as she thought of something. "If we let Mommy know, maybe things will move faster between her and Uncle Lance."

"Maybe. We can try when Mommy gets back," Gregory said, forming a plan in his mind and calling his sister over to listen.

Chloe leaned in, her eyes sparkling. "Don't worry, Brother. I will complete the task."

On the other side, Xavier dealt with the drunkard and drove to the entrance to pick up Mr. Mercer and Deanna.

On the way back, Deanna noticed that Lance didn't look well.

Unfortunately, she didn't think it was because of her and asked straightforwardly, "Mr. Mercer, you don't look well. Are you feeling unwell?"

Almost as soon as she said this, Xavier nearly lost control of the steering wheel. He thought to himself that Dr. Deanna had been single for so many years for a reason. But then again, Mr. Mercer wasn't much better.

Lance heard Deanna's question and looked at her with deep eyes that held an unreadable darkness. He even felt a sense of frustration.

Couldn't this woman tell he was upset?

Deanna stared at him and asked again when he didn't respond, "Why aren't you saying anything?"

Hearing this, Lance looked deeply at Deanna once more.

After a long pause, he finally responded with a simple "Hmm."

Xavier listened to their conversation and was almost speechless.

Especially Mr. Mercer-he had gone to the club specifically to find Deanna but ended up saying nothing after all that effort.

For a moment, Xavier was at a loss for words.

Lance felt something was off inside but couldn't pinpoint what it was.

Deanna, hearing his response, worriedly grabbed his hand to check his pulse.

"You have some internal heat and are a bit stressed. It's not a big issue."

As she spoke, Deanna released his wrist and advised him, "Have you been working a lot recently? Things not going smoothly?"

Lance didn't deny it and said lightly, "Something like that."

Xavier almost laughed out loud hearing this.

Mr. Mercer wasn't ashamed at all when lying.

Wasn't the recent workload Mr. Mercer's own doing?

In the past, designs that would have passed were now being nitpicked by Mr. Mercer.

Even in meetings, perfectly fine reports were criticized for formatting issues by Mr. Mercer.

With all this, how could the workload not be heavy?

Deanna couldn't hear these complaints.

After hearing Lance's words, she frowned and warned him, "Didn't I tell you before? Work is endless; you must moderate it. Health is most important. If you think having me around guarantees your health in the future, you'd better drop that idea early. I'm a doctor, not a god!"

As she spoke, she took advantage of Lance's inattention to touch his forehead and then his cheek.

After a few seconds of feeling his temperature, Deanna withdrew her hand and sighed in relief.

"Thankfully, no fever."

At this moment, Lance was completely stunned!
