Later, Julia sat for a while longer before leaving.
Only Deanna and Old Ashley were left in the living room.
Deanna looked at her grandmother, trying to change her mind. "I really don't have the heart for it..."
"You don't now, but you will in the future."
Old Ashley was unmoved and insisted that Deanna attend the social event.
With no other option, Deanna brought up the children. "Grandma, I know you're doing this for my good, but it's not just about me. It's also about Gregory and Chloe. What if they don't like it?"
Hearing this, Old Ashley hesitated for a moment.
But soon, she smiled and said, "Don't worry, I'll make sure Gregory and Chloe accept it."
Hearing this, Deanna was completely out of ideas.
The next day, Deanna got up early to wash up and then planned to go out to make breakfast.
Unexpectedly, when she entered the living room, the two children saw her and immediately ran over happily.
"Mommy, Great-grandma said you're going to find us a daddy. Is that true?"
Each child hugged one of Deanna's legs, looking up at her with sparkling eyes.
Deanna suddenly felt a headache.
Moreover, looking at the children's attitudes, it seemed like they were supportive?
Thinking about it, she couldn't help but ask, "If you agree, it could be true."
"Mommy, we are willing."
"Please find us a daddy soon."
Deanna was very surprised.
Little did she know, the children said this on purpose.
They wanted to see how Uncle Lance would react if he knew Mommy was going on a date.
Moreover, if they were to find a daddy, they preferred Uncle Lance to be their daddy.
But the biggest problem now was that neither of the two parties seemed interested in this idea.
So, after some discussion, the children decided to give them a push...
That evening, Deanna went to pick up the children from school as usual.
Just as she was about to go back home, the children started acting spoiled.
"Mommy, let's not go home for dinner tonight. Can we eat out?"
"Yeah, Mommy hasn't taken us out to eat for a long time. I kind of want to eat steak."
Gregory also acted like a foodie.
Deanna didn't think much of it and just assumed the children were really craving it. She took out her phone and told her grandmother they wouldn't be coming back.
Old Ashley had already conspired with the children and cheerfully said on the phone, "It's okay. You can stay out a bit longer and come back later." After saying that, she hung up directly.
Although Deanna found her grandmother's words strange, she didn't think much of it.
She took the children to have Western food. Afterward, they dragged her to go shopping at the mall.
Shopping at the mall was actually the children's main goal for today.
They wanted to buy Mommy some beautiful clothes.
Chloe pulled Deanna along like a little adult and lectured her, "Mommy, Godmother said you need to dress nicely for a social event."
"Don't worry. We have enough money saved up to buy you the prettiest dress."
Gregory patted his little backpack generously.
Since they were young, Deanna let them manage their own pocket money.
And the children never spent money recklessly, so they actually had quite a bit saved up.
Seeing how earnest the children were, Deanna finally understood their purpose for dragging her out today.
Although she found it amusing, she agreed and took them shopping at a nearby mall.
She agreed because she had planned to buy clothes earlier but had been putting it off due to various reasons.
After all, with the change of seasons, it was time to buy some warmer clothes for the family.
Soon enough, the three of them bought quite a few clothes and were carrying large bags.
Meanwhile, Lance arrived at Deanna's rental house with dolls for Chloe.
"Mr. Mercer, what brings you here?"
Seeing the handsome young man at the door, Old Ashley was quite surprised.
Lance shook the doll in his hand and explained, "I'm here to bring Chloe toys."
Seeing this, Old Ashley couldn't turn him away and invited him in.
As soon as he entered, Lance noticed how quiet the house was.
"Grandma, are the kids and Dr. Deanna not home?"
"Mr. Mercer, please have a seat."
After inviting Lance to sit down, Old Ashley slowly explained, "Deanna and the kids are out shopping for clothes for an upcoming social event."
"A social event?"
Lance's voice rose in surprise as his brows furrowed deeply.
Deanna was going to attend a social event? How come he hadn't heard anything about it?
Old Ashley seemed oblivious to Lance's darkening expression and nodded. "This household has always been supported by Deanna alone. Eventually, she'll need a man to help share the burden. Over these years, it's been tough for her-taking care of the kids and me while also figuring out how to make ends meet."
