As they spoke, Old Hughes and Old Wright walked over.
Samantha and Logan were surprised. "Oh? Did Old Hughes invite you?"
Old Hughes ignored them and looked at Lance.
Lance calmly said, "Mission accomplished, I brought her."
"Good."
Old Hughes nodded and then pulled the old man from the Wright family beside him, smiling. "Old Wright, this is Dr. Deanna, who prepared the medicinal cuisine recipe for you."
Old Wright listened and looked at the young and beautiful woman in front of him, a hint of surprise flashing in his sharp eyes.
He then laughed heartily. "I've heard Old Hughes praise Dr. Deanna's medical skills for a long time. I thought she was much older, but she's so young."
Deanna felt a bit shy at the compliment.
"Actually, I'm not that young anymore; I'm already twenty-five."
"What, twenty-five is old? Then what are we, living fossils?"
Old Wright joked.
Old Hughes couldn't help but retort, "You're the fossil! I'm still young."
Everyone burst into laughter.
After the laughter died down, Old Wright got back to the topic, looking kindly at Deanna. "We invited you today to thank you for improving the medicinal cuisine recipe."
"Old Wright, you're too kind. It was just a lucky guess."
Deanna smiled modestly.
Old Wright disagreed. "A lucky guess? I know better than that. Thanks to your improved recipe, my health has been getting better day by day. Truly, thank you."
Hearing this, Deanna didn't argue further and simply said, "Old Wright, as long as it helps you, that's all that matters."
With that, the three of them started chatting happily.
Samantha and Logan watched in amazement.
After all, there hadn't been many young people in recent years who could earn the respect of both Old Wright and Old Hughes. Let alone make Old Wright express gratitude!
Logan couldn't help but look at Deanna with newfound respect.
Samantha was also surprised but remained unimpressed.
She still didn't approve of Deanna being with her son.
Her son deserved a match from a prestigious family, not a single mother with two kids!
Deanna was unaware of Samantha's thoughts.
For her, chatting about medical theories with two highly skilled practitioners was incredibly beneficial.
Many questions she had from reading her master's notes were answered.
At the same time, Old Wright showed his fondness for Deanna.
A young person like Deanna having such achievements in traditional medicine was truly rare.
"Since you're here tonight, make yourself at home," Old Wright warmly invited Deanna.
Old Hughes chimed in, "Anna, don't be polite with this old man. After all, you saved his life."
Deanna smiled and nodded. "I won't be polite then."
"That's right. Being polite with this old man is a loss. He has many ancient medicine books and some research on ancient medical arts. If you encounter anything you don't understand, you can ask him. Better yet, borrow his ancient medicine books to study."
Old Hughes encouraged Deanna like an old rascal.
Deanna couldn't help but laugh.
Old Wright glared at Old Hughes. "I think it's you who wants to borrow them. Stop pretending."
"Who cares? I have my own ancient medicine books." Old Hughes lifted his chin proudly.
Watching the two old men bicker, Deanna stayed silent and watched quietly.
In the end, Old Wright won.
Old Hughes stomped his feet in frustration. "Damn it! I've read just as many books as you have. How come I can't win an argument with you this time?"
"Because you're dumb," Old Wright said with a gloating look.
He then turned to Deanna with a kind smile. "Anna, sorry for the spectacle."
"You two have a great relationship," Deanna complimented with a smile.
Old Hughes snorted at this. "Who has a good relationship with this old relic?"
"Same here; we're just acquaintances," Old Wright retorted.
Deanna couldn't help but laugh again.
Seeing her smile, Old Wright felt a bit embarrassed, thinking his dignified image was slipping away.
"Ahem, well, what this old guy said is true. I have some research on ancient medical art, especially medicinal cuisine. I have a few ancient medicine books at home. If Miss Jones is interested, I can show them to you." The more Old Wright spoke, the more he liked the idea.
From the improved medicinal cuisine recipe earlier, he could see that this young woman had great talent in medical skills.
Deanna was stunned but couldn't refuse. "I only know a little about ancient medical arts. If you're willing to share, I'd be honored."
"Good, good. I'll have someone take you to see the books later."
Old Wright nodded happily.
But Old Hughes was dissatisfied and complained, "You stingy old man! When I asked to see your ancient medicine books, you refused. Now you're so generous with Anna?"
