Xavier looked at Mr. Mercer in astonishment, but Mr. Mercer did not refute his words.
Did Mr. Mercer truly want to build a romantic relationship with Dr. Deanna?
But Xavier couldn't shake the feeling that he might have misunderstood Mr. Mercer.
Then again, what if he hadn't?
After all, Mr. Mercer's attitude towards Dr. Deanna was different from how he treated other women.
Seeing Xavier's changing expressions, Lance raised an eyebrow, knowing exactly what his assistant was thinking.
However, he didn't plan to say much, only warning, "Keep your mouth shut about this. Don't let it slip!"
"Don't worry, sir. I will keep this to myself!" Xavier quickly promised.
Lance trusted him and then instructed, "Go buy some things for me."
After work that evening, Lance went directly to Deanna's house with the toys Xavier had bought.
Seeing the man outside her door with his hands full of items, Deanna was surprised.
"Mr. Mercer, why are you here? And you bought so many things?"
As she spoke, she welcomed him inside.
Chloe and Gregory saw Lance and happily greeted him, "Mr. Mercer."
Old Ashley also noticed Lance and the shopping bags in his hands, asking in astonishment, "Mr. Mercer, what's all this?"
"It's like this. I'll be quite busy in the coming days and might need Dr. Deanna to help me with acupuncture daily," Lance said as he placed the shopping bags on the table and smiled lightly. "As for these, consider them my thank-you gift in advance for Dr. Deanna. I hope she'll go easy on me."
Hearing this, Deanna was momentarily stunned and then couldn't help but laugh.
So he was afraid she'd nag...
"No need for this. Since I agreed to treat you, there's no need to spend so much."
"Don't worry, it didn't cost much. They're just toys for the kids."
In reality, the toys Lance brought were all limited editions and quite expensive.
He gestured to Chloe and Gregory, "Come over and see if you like the toys Uncle brought."
The two kids wanted to go over but restrained themselves and looked at their mother for approval.
Their bright eyes seemed to ask if they could go.
Deanna laughed, "Go ahead, but don't forget to thank Uncle."
"We know," the kids responded happily and ran over to Lance.
Lance watched their interaction with Deanna and thought the children were well-mannered.
"Uncle, what toys did you buy?" Gregory curiously glanced at the shopping bags and looked up at Lance with wide eyes.
Chloe also looked over with sparkling eyes.
Seeing this, Lance's expression softened even more. He bent down slightly and said with a smile, "There's your favorite LEGO."
He took out a bag of LEGO separately.
Gregory was overjoyed, "Thank you, Uncle."
"You're welcome."
Lance couldn't help but ruffle Gregory's hair with a smile. "This time, Uncle bought a bigger set than before. It should keep you busy for a while."
Unexpectedly, Gregory's face fell immediately.
Lance noticed and quickly asked, "What's wrong? Don't you like it?"
"No, Uncle. I love it. It's just that I barely finished the last set you gave me. Now you say this one is even bigger; I don't know how long it will take me to finish it," Gregory said with a pitiful look at Lance.
Lance's heart softened at the sight, and his expression turned indulgent. "No problem. When I'm free, I can help you build it."
"Really?" Gregory's eyes brightened up instantly.
Lance nodded, "Of course. When have I ever lied to you?"
Hearing this, Gregory's face lit up with excitement.
At this moment, Chloe came over feeling a bit jealous.
"Uncle, you have to help Chloe with her puzzles too. You can't just help my brother," she said while shaking Lance's hand adorably.
Her soft voice melted Lance's heart.
"Don't worry. Uncle will help you too. I won't just help your brother," Lance promised quickly.
The kids were even happier now and started unwrapping their gifts with Lance.
Old Ashley watched from the side, feeling both worried and heartbroken for the children.
After all, it was their first time receiving so many gifts. But she said nothing in the end.
Deanna also watched with a smile in her eyes as the three interacted.
For some reason, she felt that something was off with Lance tonight.
Even if he was going to be busy, there was no need to buy things to bribe her.
Especially since these items were for the children.
And then there was the lifetime free membership card he had given earlier... She couldn't shake the feeling that Lance seemed particularly fond of her children.
