Chapter 17 Get Out!

"Old Hughes, let's talk privately about the treatment plan."

Old Hughes and Deanna had a detailed discussion in a separate conversation room. Xavier and Lance stayed in the lounge, waiting for them.

After about half an hour, they returned.

"Lance, how is it, Old Hughes?" Lance asked.

Old Hughes nodded, full of energy. "I've reviewed the plan, and we can give it a try for a month."

Lance and Xavier didn't have medical knowledge, and Old Hughes couldn't explain it to them using professional pharmacological knowledge. So he could only put it this way.

As he spoke, there seemed to be a strange expression in his eyes.

Lance noticed his gaze and felt puzzled.

He looked at Deanna, not knowing what they had discussed to make Old Hughes show such an expression.

But since Old Hughes said so, it seemed that there shouldn't be any major problems with the plan.

Since both sides were satisfied, they could now discuss cooperation.

"Miss Jones, please sit here. Let's discuss the details of the treatment collaboration," Xavier adjusted his glasses and exuded a mature aura.

"I don't have any specific requirements. Just cooperate with the treatment," Deanna said.

After finalizing the price and treatment schedule, Deanna shared her thoughts.

Xavier thought for a moment and brought up the issue of the treatment location. "Miss Jones, will you come to Mercer Manor for Mr. Mercer's treatment in the future?" It would be the best choice if she could come for treatment in person.

Deanna shook her head and looked at Lance. Her almond-shaped eyes met his deep and sharp hawk-like eyes. "Mr. Mercer, I have a family to take care of, and I can't leave my medicinal garden. So it's not convenient for me to come to you. It would be great if you could come to my place to cooperate with my treatment."

Xavier and Lance exchanged glances, their expressions complex.

Mr. Mercer, a figure who could call the shots, was actually being led by a young girl. They were in a passive position.

But if she could cure him, then everything would be worth it.

It was just a visit. What harm could it do?

Xavier readily agreed, and Deanna briefly introduced the treatment plan and medication to them. They had no objections.

With everything settled, she bid them farewell and also finalized the deal with Old Hughes.

She was about to leave when Xavier called her back.

"Miss Jones, we have one more request. Mr. Mercer has a special status, so his condition and treatment plan must be kept confidential. We hope you won't disclose them."

She agreed without hesitation and turned to leave.

On her way back, she kept thinking if she had been too impulsive. Just agreeing like that and getting involved with the wealthy Mr. Mercer, all because of the tattoo on his chest?

What if he wasn't the person she thought he was? Then all her efforts would be in vain.

But then again, she thought, there was nothing wrong with it. The compensation they offered her was very high. In the future, she wouldn't have to worry about money anymore.

Thinking this, she smiled and her steps became lighter. There were people waiting for her at home.

She reached her building, which was on the fourth floor.

It was an old building with outdated facilities and no elevator, so she had to climb the stairs.

"Who let you in..."

When she reached the second floor, she faintly heard someone arguing loudly. The sound was intense.

She paused for a moment. The soundproofing in this building wasn't good, so maybe one of the families was having a fight.

She shrugged and continued upstairs.

"Get out! You're not welcome here!"

As she reached the fourth floor, the argument became clearer. She finally realized that it was her own family having a dispute. Her expression turned serious.

"Why are you so agitated? I'm just here to deliver an invitation to my sister. Even though she's been kicked out, she has Jones family blood running through her veins. Raphael and I are getting married, so shouldn't I invite my sister?" A sharp voice filled with gloating came from behind the door. Deanna couldn't hide her anger as she clenched her fists. She would never forget that voice-it belonged to her step-sister, Emily Jones.

Her face darkened as she pushed open the door abruptly.

"Emily, this isn't your Jones Manor. My family doesn't welcome you. Get out!" She glared at Emily with anger in her eyes, her voice cold.

"Oh, Deanna is back?" Emily turned her head upon hearing the voice and locked eyes with her.

Emily was dressed in revealing fashionable attire-Deanna vaguely remembered it was a new collection by some designer.

She wore high heels and had red nail polish on her fingers. Her hair was intricately styled with braids hanging down her shoulders, exuding an extraordinary temperament.

Her heavily made-up face couldn't hide her satisfaction, and the room was filled with the strong scent of her perfume.

In comparison, Deanna had her hair down and wore a simple dress, giving off an air of stability and gentleness.

Her almond-shaped eyes were filled with charm, and her lips were slightly tinted red. Her nose was delicately upturned.

Her face was small, and light makeup enhanced her delicate features, making her look elegant and ethereal.

Emily angrily realized that when it came to facial features alone, Deanna was indeed more stunning than her.

In terms of temperament alone, she was actually inferior to Deanna!
