Later in the evening, it was getting late.
Lance took the initiative to say goodbye. "It's late, I should head back."
"Alright, Mr. Mercer, take care on your way home," Deanna nodded, offering a polite reminder.
Although Chloe and Gregory were reluctant, they obediently said goodbye to Lance.
"Goodbye, Uncle."
"Goodbye."
Lance's gaze softened as he looked at the two children. Seeing that Deanna intended to walk him out, he stopped her. "No need to see me off. Take the kids to rest."
Hearing this, Deanna did not insist. She watched him enter the elevator before closing the door and taking the children to bed.
Downstairs, Lance walked out of the community directly. Outside, Xavier was already waiting with the car.
Seeing Mr. Mercer open the door and get in, Xavier started the car and asked curiously, "Were you here for treatment again today? Why didn't you let me drive you over?"
Lance gave him a cold glance, understanding Xavier's thoughts.
"It wasn't for treatment. I just came to ask if treatment would be needed in the next few days."
Perhaps intimidated by Mr. Mercer's look, Xavier asked no more, though he couldn't help but wonder. Shouldn't such inquiries be left to him? Why did Mr. Mercer come personally?
Mr. Mercer seemed a bit off.
Thinking this, Xavier couldn't resist sneaking another glance at Mr. Mercer but found nothing unusual.
Was he overthinking?
Xavier began to reflect on himself. But then he thought again and felt he might indeed be overthinking. After all, since Mr. Mercer started receiving treatment from Dr. Deanna, his episodes had significantly reduced. It was normal for him to be more attentive.
Lance was unaware of Xavier's internal monologue.
Upon returning home, Sam greeted him respectfully. "Mr. Mercer, you're back. The medicinal bath is ready."
"I know. You should rest early too," Lance said as he went upstairs to his bedroom.
Once inside, he stood by the bed and began undressing. Under the light, his physique was impressive-well-defined and aesthetically pleasing, surpassing even international male models.
His long, straight legs walked toward the bathroom.
A strong herbal scent filled the air as he entered. Lance frowned slightly but proceeded inside.
However, he didn't immediately get into the bathtub. Instead, he stood in front of the mirror and raised a hand to his chest, feeling around.
Then, he peeled off a thin layer of something from his chest, revealing a lifelike black eagle with sharp eyes and a majestic presence.
Lance glanced at it briefly before turning away to soak in the medicinal bath.
Two days later, it was Kelly's birthday banquet.
Knowing that Lance would attend, Bella got up early to dress herself up.
Tonight was her rare opportunity; she had to dazzle Lance!
Kelly understood her daughter's intentions and spared no effort in helping her, even bringing out her treasured jewelry.
"Tonight, our Bella will definitely be the most beautiful presence," Kelly praised her stunning daughter with a smile.
Bella was very satisfied with her appearance and felt even more confident about impressing Lance tonight.
That evening, the banquet was held at the Glaya Hotel.
Many dignitaries and wealthy individuals from Cloudmere attended. After all, the Cody family was one of the top families in Cloudmere, and many were willing to show respect by attending even if it was just for the lady of the house's birthday.
Bella stayed by her mother's side to greet guests.
Her glamorous appearance earned her many compliments from the attendees.
Meanwhile, Lance arrived at the banquet right on time.
Tonight, he wore a custom black suit. His flawless features were cold and distant, exuding an air of nobility that made him seem unattainable.
His arrival immediately drew attention from many people.
Bella and the Cody couple noticed the commotion at the entrance.
Especially Bella, whose joy was evident on her face. "Mommy, Lance is here. Let's go over."
She urged her mother eagerly, wanting nothing more than to be by Lance's side immediately.
Kelly found it amusing but agreed to go over.
Joining them was Bella's father, Jeffery Cody. Due to his hard work over the years, he looked much older than Kelly. He had a slightly plump build and a square face that gave an impression of honesty. However, his sharp eyes and authoritative presence indicated he was far from simple.
"Lance is here. Why don't I see your parents?" Jeffery greeted Lance first.
"I came directly from the company," Lance replied coolly.
He then politely greeted Kelly and offered his wishes. "Mrs. Cody, happy birthday."
"Thank you," Kelly nodded in gratitude.
Bella felt hurt seeing Lance greet her parents but seemingly forget about her. However, she didn't show it and took the initiative instead.
"Lance, it's been a while since we last met," she said with a smile, looking at the handsome man before her.
But Lance only nodded indifferently without saying anything further.
