Early the next morning, just as Deanna got up, Xavier knocked on the door.
"Mr. Nelson, why are you here so early?"
Seeing the man standing outside, Deanna asked in surprise.
Xavier respectfully replied, "Good morning, Dr. Deanna. I am here on Mr. Mercer's orders. I brought some people to help, and they are already at the herb garden."
"I see. Thank you, Mr. Nelson. So, why are you here now?" Deanna thanked him and looked puzzled.
Xavier smiled slightly and explained, "Considering that you might be busy at the herb garden, I wanted to ask if Chloe and Gregory need to be taken to kindergarten."
"Wouldn't that be too much trouble?"
Honestly, Deanna was tempted by the offer. She was indeed worried about the herb garden, but her children needed to be taken to kindergarten.
Xavier laughed, "It's no trouble at all. Our car is downstairs, and we can take the kids to kindergarten on the way."
Hearing this, Deanna nodded in agreement.
"Thank you very much. I'll go get Chloe and Gregory."
She turned back into the house and called out, "Gregory, Chloe, are you ready?"
"Yes!" The two little ones responded loudly.
They had overheard their mommy talking with Uncle Xavier and came running with their small backpacks, "Mommy, Uncle Xavier, we're ready. We can go now."
Watching the two bouncing children, Xavier finally understood why Mr. Mercer had changed so much.
The children's adorable voices truly softened his heart.
After saying goodbye to their mommy, the two followed Xavier downstairs.
As they went down, they saw Lance sitting in the back seat of the car and immediately beamed with bright smiles.
"Handsome Uncle, you're here too."
"Handsome Uncle, why didn't you come upstairs?" The two spoke in unison.
Lance looked at them gently, his mouth curving into a smile, "I had work to handle, so I didn't go up. Have you had breakfast?"
"Not yet, but mommy made us some. Uncle, do you want to try?"
As she spoke, Chloe took out the lunchbox Deanna had prepared for her.
She opened the lid and offered it to Lance like a treasure, her bright eyes full of expectation.
Lance looked at her and then at the lunchbox, a smile forming in his eyes.
Inside the lunchbox were bread shaped like little pigs and rabbits-very cute.
"Who made these?"
"My mommy did. Uncle, try one."
Gregory handed over a rabbit-shaped piece of bread.
Lance didn't refuse, "Thank you."
He thanked them and took a bite.
Xavier saw this through the rearview mirror and wasn't surprised anymore.
Mr. Mercer had indeed changed a lot since meeting Dr. Deanna's family.
"How is it, Uncle? Is it good?"
Chloe's eyes sparkled as she watched Handsome Uncle finish the rabbit-shaped bread.
Lance didn't disappoint her and praised, "It tastes pretty good."
"Hehe, I told you my mommy makes the best breakfast." The little girl spoke proudly.
Lance felt an urge to pinch her chubby cheeks but restrained himself and urged them to finish their breakfast quickly.
After breakfast, they arrived at the kindergarten.
"Goodbye, Uncle."
The two waved their little hands to say goodbye to Lance.
Lance nodded and watched them enter the kindergarten before turning back to his car and heading to his company.
Once there, he immediately started a meeting to handle various issues of the branch office.
He was busy until ten in the morning when he returned to his office.
He had just sat down when Xavier knocked and walked in.
"Mr. Mercer, we have progress on Dr. Deanna's investigation!"
"What is it?" Lance looked up, his dark eyes revealing no emotion.
Xavier reported truthfully, "We traced the license plate and found that the car belongs to Emily's driver named Tom Reid. He is a fervent fan of Emily."
"Based on this result, I suspect that Dr. Deanna's herb garden being destroyed is likely Emily's doing."
"Emily is really ruthless. That herb garden is Dr. Deanna's family's main source of income. Destroying it is practically trying to ruin them."
At this point, Xavier glanced at Mr. Mercer.
Unfortunately, he couldn't read anything from his expression.
Lance squinted his eyes slightly, recalling the last time Deanna's house was vandalized.
The police hadn't made any progress or found the culprit.
Maybe this incident was also related to Emily.
"Do you remember when Deanna's house was vandalized?"
Lance suddenly asked, looking meaningfully at Xavier.
Xavier was momentarily stunned but quickly understood Mr. Mercer's implication, "You suspect that Emily did that too?"
"Whether she did or not, investigate it thoroughly. But it's likely she did." Lance ordered coldly.
"I understand."
Xavier nodded but hesitated before leaving, "Mr. Mercer, should we inform Dr. Deanna about the culprit behind the herb garden destruction?"
"Of course we should tell her. But hand Tom over to the police directly." Lance decided almost without thinking.
Xavier nodded and went off to handle these matters.
