Deanna had no idea that Bella had harbored more grudges against her.
The next morning, Deanna woke the two little ones to get them ready for school.
As they washed their faces, they asked, "Mommy, what are you going to do later?"
Deanna was helping Chloe put on her coat and replied, "Where else? After I drop you off at kindergarten, I have to go to the villa on the hill."
"There are so many things to do with the herbs these days. I need to transplant some rare herbs from the old herb garden at home to the villa. There's a lot to keep me busy."
Hearing this, Gregory blinked and said seriously, "Mommy, since you're so busy, why don't my sister and I help you?"
Chloe quickly chimed in, "Yes, Mommy! Kindergarten is boring. It's not fun at all. We'd rather help you with your work!"
Their soft voices sounded adorable.
Deanna laughed and pinched their cheeks. "Do you really want to help me work or just go there to play?"
She knew their true intentions.
Chloe stuck out her tongue and quickly answered, "Mommy, we really want to help! My brother and I can water the plants and pull out weeds!"
Chloe patted her chest as if to show how capable she was.
Seeing their expressions, Deanna couldn't help but laugh and shake her head. "No way!"
They wanted to play more than help. Ever since the last time, they had been eager to visit the villa again.
Deanna wouldn't agree this time. She nodded, "Go to school properly. We'll talk about it next time."
The two little ones pouted, looking disappointed.
"Mommy is so stingy!"
"Yes, stingy Mommy wants you to hurry to kindergarten. If you don't hurry, you'll be late."
The three of them laughed and chatted as they left the house and walked out of the community.
...
At the entrance of the community, a black car was parked by the roadside.
Inside the car, a man sat in the driver's seat, talking on the phone.
"Miss Emily, I've investigated as you instructed. Deanna spends her days either picking up and dropping off those two kids or working on some herb garden at home."
This was the result of following Deanna for more than half a month. He reported everything truthfully to Emily.
Emily frowned, "What herb garden?"
"It's a small herb garden near Deanna's home where she grows various herbs. When they mature, she sometimes sells them at the pharmacy."
The man nodded and answered Emily's question.
Emily sneered, finding it amusing. "Selling herbs? Has Deanna been living off these herbs all these years?"
The man nodded again. "From what I've seen so far, that's correct."
Emily's lips curled into a mocking smile. She thought Deanna was more capable than this. Living off selling herbs was pathetic.
Suddenly, an idea crossed her mind.
Since Deanna relied on these herbs for her livelihood, Emily decided to destroy them.
Emily laughed coldly, her eyes flashing with contempt. "Find a way to destroy all those herbs!"
The man immediately nodded, "Yes, Miss Emily."
After hanging up, Emily's face was filled with satisfaction.
She clenched her phone tightly, her fingertips turning white.
"Deanna, if you dare to fight me, I'll show you what consequences are!"
...
Meanwhile, at the villa on the hill, Deanna picked up a pair of scissors and started trimming the seedlings.
For some reason, she felt uneasy.
Her right eyelid kept twitching as if something was about to happen.
She tried to suppress her anxiety and focus on her work.
But her thoughts were uncontrollable.
Suddenly, she accidentally cut her hand instead of the seedlings.
The wound was deep, and blood started oozing from her pale fingertips instantly.
The sudden pain made Deanna frown deeply.
She stood up and ran towards the living room.
"Sam!"
Sam hurried over. "Dr. Deanna, what happened?"
"Is there a first aid kit here?"
Noticing her bleeding hand, Sam's expression darkened. He quickly nodded, "Yes."
He fetched the first aid kit immediately.
Deanna took it and found some alcohol and iodine. She disinfected her wound and bandaged it herself.
Deanna was indeed resilient. She didn't utter a sound even when the alcohol stung her wound.
