Chapter 134 Who Can Handle This

Deanna leaned into the embrace, still feeling a bit shaken.

She instinctively turned her head and looked up, seeing Lance's familiar face. Her heart stirred.

"It's... it's okay now."

The unexpected incident had happened so quickly that she hadn't had time to react.

After a while, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Realizing she was still in Lance's arms, Deanna quickly stood up, trying to put some distance between them. Embarrassed, she said, "Mr. Mercer, thank you."

Lance feigned displeasure and said, "Dr. Deanna, we are married now. If you're this polite, people will get suspicious!"

When he said the word "married," Lance emphasized it.

Hearing this, Deanna instinctively looked around.

Seeing everyone watching them, she nodded and quickly closed her mouth.

Seeing this, Lance's smile grew wider.

He stepped forward and steadied Deanna. "Are you okay now? Not too scared, I hope."

Deanna shook her head. "I'm fine."

"By the way, where's Chloe?"

Her mind had almost forgotten about Chloe!

At that moment, Chloe peeked out from behind them, looking around.

"Mommy, I'm here!" she said with a bright smile and a clever look on her face.

Deanna squatted down and hugged her tightly, starting to check her over. "Are you okay? Did you get hurt anywhere?"

She looked at Chloe, her eyes filled with visible worry.

A mother's heart is always with her child.

Chloe blinked her eyes playfully and said, "Mommy, I'm fine."

"Thanks to Daddy coming just in time. Otherwise, I would have fallen on my bottom!"

The little one spoke in a childish voice, full of admiration for Lance.

Nearby, the other parents started whispering among themselves.

Especially the mothers, who covered their faces in amazement.

"Oh my God, he's so handsome! Is he real?"

"My husband could never be this protective!"

"This is too blissful!"

"Look at that, that's someone else's husband..."

The fathers, hearing their wives' comments, looked helpless.

Indeed, no matter their age, women would always obsess over a handsome guy.

However, to be fair, Lance's reaction speed was indeed unmatched.

When the incident happened earlier, it was so sudden that none of them had time to react before Lance rushed forward.

As time passed, the second group's competition came to an end.

Due to the earlier incident with Deanna's group, they undoubtedly lost the competition.

Deanna felt a bit guilty and said, "Chloe, I'm sorry I didn't get first place for you."

Chloe didn't mind and smiled. "It's okay, Mommy. I'm already very happy to have you and Daddy here!"

Hearing this, Deanna and Lance instinctively looked at each other.

For a moment, their eyes met across the space, causing Deanna's heart to skip a beat. She quickly looked away.

She hurriedly said, "That's good."

Deanna lowered her eyes and avoided looking at Lance.

After several more activities ended, it was noon.

The kindergarten thoughtfully prepared lunch for the parents so they could experience a day in the life of their children at school.

Looking at the food on the table, Lance instinctively frowned.

Deanna noticed and asked, "What's wrong? Is this food not to your taste?"

Compared to outside food, the kindergarten meals were indeed lighter.

Deanna thought Lance might not be used to it.

But unexpectedly, Lance shook his head and explained, "No, I just don't like carrots and scallions."

Hearing this, Deanna noticed the plate was full of carrots and scallions.

Suddenly, she understood why he frowned.

Hearing this, the two little ones laughed and started teasing him.

"I didn't know Daddy was such a picky eater!"

Chloe nodded. "Yeah!"

Then she turned her head and looked at Lance seriously.

"Daddy, being picky is a bad habit. You can't be picky! The teacher said we need to eat well to have balanced nutrition."

Her serious tone made Deanna laugh.

She held back her laughter and explained, "Only you kids need balanced nutrition if you're picky eaters."

Chloe blinked her big eyes in confusion. "Really?"

Deanna nodded. "Yes!"

"So you two better eat well. If you keep talking so much, you won't grow tall."

Chloe pouted and quickly fell silent.

Deanna looked at Lance's plate and took it in front of her.

"I'll pick out the carrots and scallions for you so you can eat."
