Meanwhile, Lance was busy working in his office.
His phone dinged. He picked it up and saw a picture from Deanna, along with a happy little bunny emoji.
Instantly, Lance's lips curved into a smile, and his gaze softened.
He put down his work and replied immediately.
"Thank you, Dr. Deanna."
Deanna responded quickly.
"You're welcome, I'm happy to help."
"By the way, don't overwork yourself. You need to balance work and rest. Given your current health, you need at least eight hours of sleep each day." Seeing Lance's relentless work ethic, Deanna couldn't help but remind him.
Lance chuckled softly, "Don't worry, Dr. Deanna, I understand."
Since receiving treatment from Deanna, he had noticeably felt changes in his body.
Compared to before, he was much better.
With gradual care, maybe he really had a chance to recover.
In the past, this was something he wouldn't have dared to dream of. But since Deanna appeared, miracles began to happen...
Deanna had been busy in the herb garden all morning. Once she finished, she went home and took out her silver needles, walking over to Old Ashley.
Old Ashley often had aches in her legs, especially recently during the rainy season.
"Grandma, relax. Don't be nervous."
Deanna rolled up Old Ashley's pant leg and began the acupuncture.
Old Ashley nodded and watched Deanna intently.
For a moment, her eyes became unfocused.
She sighed, "Getting old makes me useless. Time flies faster every day."
The little girl who used to cry in front of her was now a mother of two.
Deanna smiled, "Grandma, what are you talking about? You're still doing well."
Old Ashley shook her head, "I'm still fine now and can see you. But what will you do when I'm gone? Who will take care of you?"
She sighed again.
"Now that the two little ones are growing up, it's time for you to find someone to take care of yourself."
For Old Ashley, seeing Deanna settle down was her biggest concern.
Deanna shook her head and smiled, "Grandma, I think things are fine as they are now!"
"I'll just stay with you and the two little ones. I don't need to marry anyone."
After everything that had happened, Deanna had come to realize that other things were superficial and useless.
But Old Ashley didn't agree.
She sighed and said, "One day I'll be gone, and the little ones will grow up and leave home."
"When they have their own families, what will you do?"
Old Ashley looked at Deanna with a face full of worry and reluctance.
Deanna had nothing but them now. Without the support of her family, how could she manage alone?
Deanna replied calmly, "You're all with me now. Why worry about so much? We'll deal with future problems when they come."
"If that day really comes, living alone isn't so bad."
"I'm really not interested in meeting new people. Who would accept me with two kids? Who would genuinely be good to them?"
With children in tow, finding another partner involved too many considerations.
It was better to live her life alone.
Deanna's tone was firm as if she had already made up her mind.
The more she spoke like this, the more worried Old Ashley became.
She sighed again, "I think Mr. Mercer is a good match!"
"Mr. Mercer is kind and accepts the two little ones completely. They like him so much..."
Before she could finish, Deanna interrupted with a smile.
"Grandma, you're overthinking."
"With Mr. Mercer's family background, how could he accept a partner with children? Besides, Mr. Mercer's health is poor. Even though I'm trying my best to help him recover, there's no guarantee how long he will live or if he can be cured..."
Deanna smiled bitterly.
Her words were harsh but true; these were all things to consider.
Her reminder made Old Ashley nod in agreement.
"You're right."
If this didn't work and that didn't either, what would Deanna do in the future?
Thinking about it made Old Ashley sigh even more deeply.
Deanna chuckled softly and quickly reassured her, "Grandma, don't worry so much!"
