Three hours had passed, and Julia still hadn't come out of the delivery room. Her angry shouts had gradually turned into cries of pain. This was her first pregnancy, and she was carrying twins. Both babies were developing well, but her small frame made the delivery difficult.
Another three hours went by, and Julia still hadn't given birth. The midwife suggested several times that Julia should opt for a cesarean section, but Julia refused each time. She believed she had the strength to deliver naturally. She was determined not to undergo a cesarean section.
Outside the delivery room, a group of people had been waiting as long as Julia had been in labor. Lionel and the Kings looked particularly worried. Deanna was also deeply concerned. Several hours had passed, and she couldn't help but worry.
"No, I have to go in and talk to Julia," Deanna finally said with a determined look.
The Kings were grateful but didn't agree. "You're pregnant; it's not suitable for you to go in. I'll go. I'll talk to that stubborn girl!" Norah said as she prepared to find a nurse to request entry into the delivery room.
Just as she was about to leave, the door to the delivery room opened, and a midwife came out with a helpless expression. "Is Julia's family here?"
"We are. Is there something wrong with our Julia?" the King family and Lionel immediately rushed forward, anxiously asking.
The nurse explained, "It's not exactly a problem, but the expectant mother's pelvis is small, and she's carrying twins. A natural birth is difficult, and several hours have already passed. We've missed the optimal time for a natural delivery. I suggest that you persuade Julia to opt for a cesarean section. Continuing with a natural birth could be harmful to the babies."
"We were just discussing this and were about to request it from the doctor. In that case, I'll go in with you now," Norah said, urgently pulling the midwife towards the delivery room.
Cristal couldn't hold back her dissatisfaction and muttered, "Isn't Julia being too stubborn? She knows natural birth is difficult but insists on it. Doesn't she care about the babies? If my grandsons get hurt because of this, I'll have a word with her!"
Her words unsurprisingly caused Zackery and Deanna to frown in disapproval.
"What do you mean by that about my daughter?" Zackery, already distressed by his daughter's six-hour labor, was unhappy about Cristal's comments.
Lionel and Tristan realized this could escalate quickly. Tristan looked worriedly at Deanna and Lance before quickly explaining, "Zackery, you've misunderstood. My wife is just concerned about Julia and the babies; she didn't mean anything else."
"Really? Because it sounded like she was calling our Julia selfish!" Zackery retorted, unwilling to let it go.
Lionel joined in the explanation, "Zackery, I apologize on behalf of my mother. She's just worried about the babies and doesn't express herself well. Please don't take it to heart."
Without giving Zackery a chance to respond, Lionel turned to his mother seriously, "Mom, Julia is having my children, continuing our Grant family line. I believe she wouldn't endanger the babies' safety. She insists because she believes she can do it. I don't want to hear such comments again."
"Exactly. Julia is continuing our family line; it's not easy for her. What nonsense are you spouting?" Tristan scolded his wife before turning back to Zackery with a conciliatory smile, "Zackery, please don't be upset. I'll make sure to talk to her later."
Zackery listened but didn't say more, merely huffing as he turned his attention back to the delivery room.
Deanna's frown also eased. She glanced at Lionel, her earlier worries now completely gone. She could feel that Lionel was genuinely changing for Julia's sake. At least now he could stand up to his parents in front of everyone and point out their mistakes.
Another half hour passed before the delivery room door opened again. The midwife came out with a joyful expression. Before she could speak, everyone rushed forward with questions.
"Has my daughter given birth?"
"Nurse, how is my fiancée?"
"Did she give birth? I heard babies crying. Are they boys or girls?"
The nurse patiently addressed their excitement, "Everyone, please calm down. The mother has given birth to two healthy baby girls. Mother and daughters are safe."
"Two girls?!" Cristal exclaimed with obvious displeasure.
Before she could say more, her husband covered her mouth. Even so, her earlier words had already displeased the Kings and Deanna.
Lionel noticed this and felt a headache coming on. As he pondered how to ease the tension, the doctor and nurse pushed Julia and the babies out of the delivery room.
