Chapter 1241: I Will Obey

When Deanna woke up, it was already afternoon.

She looked at the white ceiling above her and knew she was in a hospital room.

Just as she was about to sit up, she heard two excited little voices by her ear.

"Mommy, you're finally awake."

The two little ones leaned against the edge of the bed, their eyes sparkling with concern as they looked at Deanna.

"Mommy, how do you feel? Daddy said you weren't feeling well. Have you not been resting properly lately?"

"Mommy, we know you're sad because Great-grandma passed away, but before she left, she told you to take good care of yourself. If you don't listen, next time we visit Great-grandma, I'll tell her, and she'll come into your dreams to scold you."

Gregory lectured Deanna with a maturity beyond his years.

Seeing this, Deanna's face showed a guilty and embarrassed expression.

At that moment, Lance also walked over, his face expressionless. "You're awake. I'll call the doctor to check on you."

After saying that, he turned and left to find the doctor without waiting for Deanna's reaction.

Watching him disappear, Deanna realized he was angry and felt even more uneasy.

"Mommy, Daddy seems to be angry."

The two little ones also noticed Lance's attitude and looked at Deanna with concern.

Deanna, feeling like a child who had done something wrong, rubbed her nose and said, "It's okay. I'll make it up to him later."

"Mommy, Daddy is angry because you don't take care of yourself."

The two little ones pointed out Deanna's problem.

Deanna wanted to argue that she did take care of herself and that it was just an accident. But the words stuck in her throat.

From their words, she knew Lance hadn't told them the truth, so she didn't plan to reveal it either. She didn't want the two little ones to be filled with hatred like her.

Thinking this, she forced a faint smile and reassured them, "Yes, Mommy made a mistake this time. I'll apologize to your daddy later. Don't worry; I'll take better care of myself from now on."

As she spoke, Lance returned with the doctor.

His dark eyes swept over Deanna and the two little ones. "Gregory and Chloe, your grandmother is here. She's downstairs. Can you go help Daddy welcome her?"

"Okay."

The two little ones didn't think much of it and left the room.

Watching them leave, Lance signaled Shannon outside to follow and protect them.

At the same time, the doctor began examining Deanna.

A few minutes later, the doctor concluded, "The situation is stable now. The baby is fine. If Mr. Mercer is still worried, I can have a nurse administer another shot to stabilize the pregnancy this evening."

"Administer another shot," Lance agreed without hesitation.

The doctor nodded and reminded Deanna, "Although the baby is stable now, there's still a risk of miscarriage at any time. So for the next month, Missus should stay in bed as much as possible and avoid emotional fluctuations. Keep your emotions stable."

Hearing this, Deanna felt a pang of anxiety.

She looked up at Lance.

Lance met her gaze, understanding her intention. "As I said before, I won't stop you from doing anything or even support any decision you make, but only if your health is not at risk. If you insist on being reckless, I will have to send them away."

"I will obey!"

Deanna responded almost immediately after Lance finished speaking.

She was genuinely afraid Lance would send them away.

Although she knew that even if Lance sent them away, he wouldn't let Eula off easily and would definitely avenge her grandmother.

But such deep-seated hatred could only be truly avenged by herself.

Lance's dark eyes stared deeply at Deanna.

Deanna felt increasingly guilty under his gaze.

Fortunately, after a while, Lance looked away, his previously cold expression softening slightly. "This is your promise. If you break it, don't blame me for getting angry."

"Got it!"

Deanna replied irritably.

The doctor listened to their conversation without understanding but didn't mind. He gave a few more instructions before leaving the room.

At that moment, the two little ones returned with Samantha.

"Deanna's awake. How are you feeling?"

Samantha didn't know exactly what had happened. She thought Deanna was hospitalized because of excessive grief.

As she spoke, she brought a food box to the bedside with a gentle expression. "Lance said you haven't had much appetite lately. I asked the chef at the old house to make your favorite dish from your grandmother's recipe-spicy and sour with white rice. Would you like to try some now?"

She looked at Deanna expectantly as she finished speaking.

Seeing her bright eyes, Deanna felt deeply moved and a bit guilty.

"Sure, I'll try it. Thank you for bringing it all this way, Samantha."
