Chapter 1239: You Have to Stop Me

Lance returned to the room and found Deanna sitting on the bed, staring blankly.

"When did you wake up? Why didn't you have someone call me?"

As he spoke, he sat down beside Deanna, concerned. "Are you hungry? I had the kitchen keep some chicken porridge warm for you, so you can eat as soon as you wake up."

Hearing this, Deanna looked up at him, her gaze falling on his handsome but tired face.

"I'm not hungry. You've worked hard these past few days."

Deanna had noticed all of Lance's efforts.

Lance gently tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear, his expression tender. "It's not hard for me. I just want you to be well."

Seeing his warm smile, Deanna felt some of her sadness ease.

She forced a small smile and asked, "Where are Gregory and Chloe? Why don't I see them?"

"Your condition hasn't been great, and their emotions were unstable. I had my parents take them to the old house."

Lance didn't hide anything and told her the truth.

Deanna nodded and then, noticing his tired face, asked with some concern, "Are you done with your work now?"

"It's all done. I'll go freshen up and then come back to keep you company."

Understanding what Deanna meant, Lance got up and went to the bathroom.

For the next few days, Deanna rested at home.

During this time, Julia brought her parents and Lionel to visit.

The Kings were very concerned about Deanna and always tried to comfort her.

"Your grandmother in heavens must wish you live a happy life. You should move forward, Deanna."

"She wouldn't want you to torment yourself like this. You're not only hurting yourself but also the baby inside you."

Deanna knew they were right but still couldn't lift her spirits.

Even so, Lance and the others didn't pressure her. They gave her time to adjust bit by bit.

Logan and Samantha also brought the kids over every day.

Whenever he had time, Lance took Deanna out for walks.

With so many people caring for her, Deanna gradually emerged from the sorrow of losing her grandmother.

Seeing her smile again, Lance felt relieved.

The family doctor had privately told him that if Deanna's condition didn't improve, they might lose the baby.

Yes, due to excessive grief and a lack of appetite leading to poor nutrition absorption, Deanna's health had deteriorated significantly, affecting the baby's development.

Especially now that the baby was almost five months old and needed more nutrition.

But Lance didn't want to pressure Deanna, so he kept these concerns to himself and tried every day to get her to eat more.

Everyone noticed Deanna's improvement and felt happy for her.

Half a month passed quickly.

Deanna, who had been so thin that a gust of wind could blow her over, finally gained some weight but was still quite frail.

Especially now that her belly was starting to show, making her look even more delicate.

However, Deanna's spirits were much better.

Because of this, Lance decided not to hide what was happening outside anymore.

"I know you've been wanting to revenge on Eula. I didn't tell you before because of your condition. Eula has been captured and is being held in the basement of Coconut Villa."

"What did you just say? Eula has been captured?"

Deanna's previously calm demeanor changed as she turned to stare intently at Lance.

Lance nodded again. "Yes, she's been captured. Do you want to see her now?"

"Yes, take me to see her!"

Deanna spoke without hesitation, her expression dark and full of hatred. But then she changed her mind. "Wait, I need to prepare something. Give me a day."

Without waiting for Lance's response, she got up and went to the pharmacy.

She stayed there all day and didn't come out until evening.

Lance heard from Sam that she hadn't touched the lunch sent to her, so he went to check on her.

"Deanna, it's me. Can I come in?"

He knocked on the door and waited quietly outside.

Soon, he heard footsteps inside. The door opened, and Deanna stood there looking exhausted. "What's wrong?"

"Sam said you didn't eat lunch."

Lance looked at her calmly, his eyes full of concern.

Deanna lowered her gaze and said softly, "I don't have an appetite right now. I'll eat when I'm done. You should go back to your room."

As she spoke, she tried to close the door, but Lance quickly stopped it with his hand.

"Are you going to stop me?"

Deanna looked up immediately.

For some reason, seeing the hatred in Deanna's eyes pained Lance. He took a deep breath and said seriously, "No matter what you want to do, I won't stop you. In fact, I'll support you unconditionally. But you have to take care of yourself. Don't make me worry."
