Watching the old woman on the bed gradually lose consciousness, Eula triumphantly tossed the syringe into the trash can and said condescendingly, "This is just the beginning. Next, I'll deal with Deanna's two bastards. Maybe your family will meet underground someday. Remember to tell Deanna to behave in her next life!"
With that, she turned to leave.
Just as she turned around, she heard a sound behind her. It was the call bell in the hospital room.
"You old hag, you didn't pass out!"
Eula turned back in astonishment to see Old Ashley sitting up at the head of the bed, her face pale and covered in cold sweat.
Old Ashley sneered at Eula, "I may not be as strong as you, but I can deceive you."
"You wretched old woman!"
Eula's anger flared, and she wanted to finish off the old woman, but reality didn't allow her to do so.
She could already hear footsteps coming from the hallway outside.
With no other choice, she glared at Old Ashley and walked towards the window. As doctors and nurses entered the room, she jumped out of the window.
The doctors and nurses didn't notice her; their attention was entirely on Old Ashley.
Old Ashley's condition was dire; she even started coughing up blood.
"Hurry, get her to the emergency room! Notify her family!" one of the doctors shouted urgently while performing emergency measures on Old Ashley.
Amidst the chaos, they rushed into the emergency room.
Meanwhile, Lance received a call from the hospital and hurried over.
When he arrived, a nurse was already waiting outside the emergency room. "Are you a relative of Old Ashley?"
"I am. What happened?" Lance demanded in a deep voice.
The nurse quickly explained, "Someone injected her with a toxin. The toxin is very potent and has damaged her organs. Her condition is critical. The doctor asked me to inform you to prepare for the worst."
Prepare for the worst!
A sense of dread washed over Lance. "What do you mean by 'the worst'?"
He looked up sharply at the nurse, his intense demeanor startling her.
"Mr. Mercer, please stay calm. Although the situation is dire, there's still a chance for a miracle. The doctor just wants you to be prepared," the nurse tried to reassure him.
But Lance couldn't calm down.
He knew that if the doctor said such things, it meant the situation was grim. "Don't worry about me. Go in and fully assist the doctors in saving her. Tell them to use any means necessary to keep her alive!"
No matter what, he couldn't let anything happen to his grandmother before Deanna returned.
Meanwhile, in an abandoned factory on the outskirts of town.
Deanna suddenly felt a tightness and discomfort in her chest, as if something had happened.
She clutched her chest, feeling very uneasy.
Could something have happened?
Was it her grandmother or Lance?
No, she needed to find a way to contact Lance.
Thinking of this, Deanna glanced subtly at the two women beside her and suddenly clutched her stomach, crying out in pain.
"Oh no, my stomach hurts so much."
She cried out while curling up on the ground.
The two female agents frowned and walked over. "Hey, what's wrong with you?"
One of them even kicked Deanna lightly.
At that moment, Deanna looked up with tears in her eyes.
She pleaded with them desperately, "Please save my baby. My stomach hurts so much; something must be wrong with my baby."
The two female agents were startled.
Unfortunately, they didn't soften as Deanna had hoped.
Instead, they looked at her with amused expressions. "Stomach pain? Something wrong with your baby? Let me check."
Before Deanna could react, one of the female agents squatted down and reached towards Deanna's lower body.
"What are you doing?"
Deanna was shocked and incredulous.
Especially when she felt something unusual down there, her whole body stiffened.
The female agent withdrew her hand and looked at it before scoffing, "Didn't you say your stomach hurt and something was wrong with your baby? I checked, and it seems like there's no problem. There's no blood; everything should be fine."
Deanna was at a loss for words.
It was the first time she had seen such a method of checking.
Before she could say anything else, she felt a kick on her shoulder that sent her sprawling backward onto the ground. The female agent's harsh voice echoed in her ears.
"I warn you to behave yourself. If you try any tricks again, we'll make sure something really happens to your baby!"
With that, they ignored Deanna's expression and returned to their resting spot.
Deanna struggled to sit up from the ground, feeling increasingly anxious.
How could she escape from these two?
As she pondered this, she suddenly heard the two agents' disgruntled voices nearby.
