Lance slightly turned his head to glance at Deanna beside him, instantly seeing through her thoughts.
Thinking about what he had informed Xavier, he shook his head and said, "I understand your intention to give money, but you need to know that a small favor can lead to resentment. There's a better way to repay them."
"What way?" Deanna asked, looking at him with a bit more understanding of his earlier words. Indeed, temporary help wouldn't have much effect.
As she pondered, she heard Lance's pleasant voice again, "I've already had someone plan the redevelopment of the old town. If things go smoothly, we can collaborate with the authorities to invest in the renovation, turning it into a tourist attraction. As long as people aren't particularly lazy, they can earn money through their own efforts."
Lance's idea was indeed excellent. Collaborating on the old town's renovation would not only boost the city's economy but also its culture. The authorities would be eager to cooperate, and the business opportunities would be abundant for those willing to work hard.
Deanna understood this reasoning and felt very grateful to Lance. "Thank you!"
At that moment, an arm wrapped around her waist, gently pulling her closer to him. Their eyes met.
Lance leaned in with a mischievous smile, "I remember telling you that if you say thank-you again to me, I'd have to punish you."
As he spoke, his warm breath brushed against Deanna's face. Despite being with Lance for nearly two years, she couldn't help but blush and feel her heart race at his handsome and roguish appearance.
The two little ones nearby were also very excited, covering their mouths tightly to avoid making any noise that might interrupt their parents' affectionate moment. Their eager eyes were hard to ignore.
"Stop it, Gregory and Chloe are here. Don't set a bad example for them," Deanna said, both embarrassed and annoyed, pushing against Lance.
Lance looked at her flushed cheeks, finding her incredibly charming and reluctant to let go. He glanced at the two wide-eyed children and said coolly, "Don't worry, they can't see anything."
The two little ones immediately covered their eyes upon hearing this. "Daddy's right, we can't see anything."
"Daddy, kiss Mommy quickly. My brother and I won't peek," they promised mischievously.
However, their fingers spread wide apart didn't quite support their claim. Lance didn't care if they were peeking or not; he leaned in and kissed Deanna's pink lips.
Deanna glanced at the two little ones through the corner of her eye and saw their eyes peeking through their fingers. She wanted to stop Lance but it was too late. Just as she was about to struggle, Lance seemed to sense it and released her after a brief kiss.
Even so, Deanna gave Lance a playful punch. She didn't forget to scold the two little ones either, "Watching Daddy and Mommy like that? I think you both need a lesson."
"Mommy, what are you talking about? I don't understand," Gregory said innocently, blinking his eyes.
Chloe mimicked her brother, rubbing her eyes as if she had just woken up and looked at Deanna with pure innocence. "Mommy, what's wrong?"
Seeing them like this made Deanna both angry and amused. "You two! I don't know who you inherited this from. I certainly wasn't this mischievous when I was your age."
She tapped each of their foreheads lightly. Chloe covered her forehead and giggled, "We must have inherited it from Daddy, right Daddy?" She batted her eyes cutely at Lance.
Lance couldn't resist her cuteness and immediately agreed with whatever she said. The car was filled with laughter.
After about five minutes, the car stopped at the entrance of the old town. The streets were too narrow for the car to enter.
Deanna got out of the car with the two little ones. Lance also stepped out from the other side.
Behind them were two rows of respectful bodyguards in black suits, each carrying something in their hands.
Their appearance immediately drew the attention of the surrounding residents. However, no one recognized Deanna and the two little ones.
In nearly two years, Deanna and the children had changed significantly.
"Who are these people?"
"That car looks expensive, and that family of four has an extraordinary aura. They must not be ordinary people. But why are they here in the old town?"
"Could it be that someone important lives here? It sounds like something out of a novel."
"Let's follow them and see what they're up to."
