Chapter 1189: The Little Ones Start School

"Do you know why I chose you to be the head of the family?"

Eula sat behind her desk, looking sternly at Max.

Max appeared uneasy, his head bowed. But in truth, his expression was not as honest as he made it seem. Out of Eula's sight, a quick glint flashed in Max's eyes.

He then pretended to be nervous and stammered, "N-no, I don't know."

Eula was not surprised by this. Max was famously weak and incompetent within their family. It could be said that anyone in the family could step over him.

"Although I've relinquished my position as head of the family, the future development of the family will still be decided by me. You just need to inform others of the development plans I set. Do you understand?"

Eula got straight to the point without beating around the bush.

Max quickly nodded, "Understood, understood."

"It's good that you understand. I hope you don't disappoint me. Otherwise, you should know very well what I'm capable of. I heard your wife recently gave birth to a baby girl. You wouldn't want your child to experience the world's malice so soon after arriving in it, would you?"

Eula looked at Max with a threatening gaze.

Max's hands clenched into fists at his sides, but he still maintained a submissive appearance and respectfully said, "You're right. I won't disappoint you."

"Good. Now go. Today is your first day as the new head; many people will be coming to congratulate you. Celebrate."

Eula waved him away.

As Max left, she spoke again, "Keep an eye on his family."

"Yes."

Avery nodded and accepted the order.

...

Days passed, and soon it was June, the time for the little ones to start elementary school.

Early in the morning, the family of four got up early. At the same time, the Mercer couple also arrived from the old house, dressed very formally.

Logan wore a vintage suit that complemented his tall frame and serious expression, exuding an air of authority. Samantha wore a red fitted dress that highlighted her curves, giving off an indescribable mature charm.

As soon as she saw the little ones, she enthusiastically waved and said, "Gregory and Chloe, come eat while it's hot. I specially asked the kitchen to make a perfect score breakfast!"

"Grandma, what's a perfect score?"

The little ones ran over curiously and looked at Samantha.

Samantha opened the food box she was holding, revealing two fried dough sticks and four eggs. She explained, "Each of you gets one fried dough stick and two eggs, symbolizing a perfect score!"

Hearing this, the little ones laughed and said, "Grandma, even if we don't eat this, we can still get perfect scores!"

"That's true, but we need to have a sense of ceremony!"

Samantha didn't deny their confidence but emphasized the importance of ritual.

Deanna couldn't help but laugh at this.

Lance said, "Mom and Dad, it's just starting elementary school; there's no need to be so formal!"

Unexpectedly, his words earned him a reprimand from the elders. "What's wrong with starting elementary school? Isn't it an important day for our precious grandchildren?"

"Exactly. I tell you, every time our grandchildren advance in school, we'll dress like this for good luck!"

Samantha said this and then seemed to remember something. She looked at Deanna and Lance with regret and said, "I forgot to prepare clothes for you too."

Hearing this, Deanna and Lance exchanged glances, unsure whether to sympathize with each other or laugh at each other.

In the end, Lance put his arm around Deanna and comforted her, "It's alright; it's all for the kids."

This did comfort Deanna a bit.

Later on, after having fried dough sticks and eggs with the little ones, the family drove to the city's top elementary school.

As soon as they got out of the car, Logan and Samantha's standout attire immediately drew the attention of other parents around them.

Among them were people who recognized them and showed surprised expressions.

"Mr. and Mrs. Mercer, what brings you here?"

"We're here to accompany our grandchildren for their entrance exams."

Logan and Samantha openly allowed people to look at them and responded in good spirits.

Deanna and Lance stood beside them, politely greeting those who came to say hello.

Seeing their harmonious family interaction made many mothers or grandparents who came to drop off their children look on with envy.

This event even caught the attention of some media outlets who rushed over for interviews but were turned down.

Even so, the media didn't give up and took some photos to post online.

Netizens who saw these photos had plenty to say.

"Oh my gosh, the Mercer family is so down-to-earth."

"Mr. and Mrs. Mercer really dote on their grandchildren; they dressed so formally just for starting elementary school."

"Aww, Miss Deanna and Mr. Lance are so loving; the way they look at each other is full of affection. I'm sooo jealous."
