Hearing Lance's jealous tone, Deanna laughed again.
She looked up at the man in front of her, her black eyes shining. "Then I'll have another meal with you."
Lance's previously stern expression softened a bit.
Just as he was about to say something, Deanna's deliberately troubled voice reached his ears again.
"But now, in the eyes of others, we are supposedly broken up. If you come back with me, won't that make people suspicious?"
"Can't I go see Gregory and Chloe?"
Lance looked down at Deanna in his arms, regretting agreeing to Deanna's plan once more.
Yes, he regretted it.
Ever since he agreed to Deanna's plan, he had to sneak around just to see his fiancée and children.
There were other ways to deal with Eula. Why did he choose this one?
Soon, the group went to the apartment Deanna had temporarily rented.
However, to avoid suspicion, Lance did not get out of the car with Deanna.
He waited in the garage for about ten minutes until Deanna messaged him. Only then did he leisurely leave the garage.
Upon entering the apartment, Lance smelled a pleasant fragrance.
Seeing him, Deanna smiled and said, "You're here just in time; the noodles are ready. Go wash your hands and come eat."
Lance nodded and went to the bathroom.
When he came out, he saw Deanna sitting in the dining room playing with her phone. He walked over and asked, "Where are Gregory and Chloe?"
"They're already asleep. Eat your noodles first, then you can go check on them. They've missed you these past few days."
Deanna put down her phone and looked over.
Lance raised an eyebrow. "They missed me, but they didn't come looking for me?"
"Of course, that's to avoid making me sad. In their eyes, you're already the bad dad."
Deanna said this with righteous indignation.
Seeing Lance's face visibly fall, she quickly changed the subject. "But that's only temporary. Eat up. I've prepared your room; you can stay here tonight. Gregory and Chloe will be thrilled to see you in the morning."
To her surprise, Lance refused.
"I'm not staying in the guest room."
"If not the guest room, do you want to sleep on the sofa?"
Deanna asked knowingly, her eyes full of amusement.
Lance knew she was doing it on purpose and snorted lightly. "I want to sleep with my wife!"
"No way. What if Gregory and Chloe find out in the morning?"
Deanna deliberately refused.
She knew Lance wouldn't care about this.
And indeed, he didn't.
Lance took a bite of his noodles and said, "If they find out, they find out. Most people around us have already guessed that our breakup is fake. As long as they don't slip up, Eula won't suspect anything."
"That's true, but what was the point of our previous act then?"
Deanna asked a soul-searching question.
Lance looked back at her and smiled. "Shouldn't I be asking that? After all, it was your idea."
"…"
Deanna was momentarily speechless.
After a while, she pouted and said, "We've come this far; we have to see it through. We can't let it all be for nothing."
Lance didn't disagree with that.
Later that night, after finishing his late-night snack, he went to check on the kids' room.
Inside, Gregory and Chloe were sleeping soundly, unaware that someone had entered.
Lance tucked them in and kissed their foreheads before quietly leaving the room.
As he stepped out, Deanna emerged from the master bedroom and smiled at him. "The bathwater is ready. Go wash up."
"Okay."
Lance responded and went to the bathroom.
Half an hour later, they lay in bed together.
Lance held Deanna close, his hand gently caressing her belly. "Has the baby been behaving these days?"
Deanna was speechless.
"The baby is just over two months old; it's still a tiny ball of flesh. How can you tell if it's behaving?"
"Well," Lance quickly defended himself, "I read that some women experience symptoms like morning sickness or cravings during pregnancy. Have you had any of those?"
Deanna looked up at him and smiled. "Not yet. Who knows about later?"
While they were having their intimate conversation, Eula found out that Lance had gone to Deanna's place and hadn't come out for over two hours.
Eula was furious with jealousy.
"They've broken up! Why is Lance still seeing that woman?"
"Maybe he's there to see the kids," Avery tried to comfort Eula.
Eula gritted her teeth.
Yes, even though Deanna and Lance had broken up, they still had their children connecting them.
No, she had to sever this connection. She couldn't allow any chance for Deanna and Lance to reconcile.
Moreover, if she handled this well, she could create irreconcilable hatred between Lance and Deanna.
