Watching Bella being taken away, Eula couldn't help but marvel at how resilient the woman was.
Despite Lance's torment, she was still alive. Eula realized she needed to change her approach; she couldn't wait for Lance to torture Bella to death.
Otherwise, Bella might reveal Avery's involvement.
However, silencing Bella required careful planning to avoid exposing herself. With this in mind, Eula approached Lance. He saw her but pretended not to and started to leave. Eula had no choice but to call out, "Are you just going to leave without saying anything to me?"
She stepped forward to block his way. Lance finally looked at her coldly and said, "Move."
Eula stood her ground and continued, "I've been wrongly blamed and lost so much money. Now that you've found out someone else took Deanna, don't you think you owe me an explanation?"
Lance sneered and narrowed his eyes dangerously, staring at Eula with disdain. For some reason, his gaze made her uneasy, but she forced herself to stay calm and confront him.
"What are you looking at?" she demanded.
"I'm looking at whether you think I'm a fool," Lance replied mockingly. "Don't assume you're the only smart one and everyone else is stupid. If you're innocent, then no one in this world is."
Eula's face stiffened at his words. Before she could think of a rebuttal, Lance glanced at Prosser standing beside her.
"I remember you usually take Avery with you when you go out. Why the change?"
"I sent Avery on an errand," Eula replied, feeling her heart sink. It seemed Lance still suspected her. She needed to find a way to dispel his doubts.
Lance remained skeptical and asked, "Really? What task requires your most trusted aide?"
"Naturally, it's to investigate the mastermind behind Deanna's abduction. You know Avery's capabilities; he's my best."
Eula answered truthfully about Avery's whereabouts, leaving no room for error even in Lance's eyes.
Lance gave her a long look and said sarcastically, "Very well, I'll wait for your truth." With that, he walked past her and left.
Watching him disappear, Eula's expression darkened as she turned and left the yacht. Back in her car, she instructed Prosser, "Contact the Mafia Boss and tell him I need someone killed. In exchange, I'll give him the shipping route he wants."
Prosser nodded in agreement. Eula continued, "Also, tell him not to let his men appear. Use heavy weapons to destroy the yacht. Given Bella's condition, even a minor injury should be fatal."
"What about Lance?" Prosser asked, surprised since he knew how much Eula cared about Lance. A bombardment would endanger everyone on the yacht.
Eula scoffed, "Don't worry, Lance won't die that easily. We'll go and rescue him afterward."
Lance wanted to distance himself from her, but she was determined to stay entangled with him. Prosser, though uneasy about her plan, nodded and complied.
Meanwhile, back on the yacht, Lance returned to his temporary room and summoned Xavier. "Increase security around the yacht and watch for any suspicious activity," he ordered.
"Mr. Mercer, has something happened?" Xavier asked with concern.
"I believe Eula is planning her next move," Lance replied gravely.
Understanding the implication, Xavier nodded and left to make arrangements. For the next two days, the sea remained calm, making Xavier doubt if Eula would act.
But some things happen when least expected. That night, as Xavier was reporting on the search for Deanna, the floor suddenly shook violently, followed by a deafening explosion.
"Mr. Nelson, get the boss ashore quickly! The yacht has been hit by a shell and is taking on water!" a subordinate shouted as he rushed in.
Lance and Xavier's faces turned serious. Another explosion rocked the yacht, prompting them to run toward the deck without delay.
The deck was in chaos with people jumping overboard because the only staircase to shore had been destroyed in the bombardment. Without hesitation, Lance and Xavier jumped into the sea and swam away from the sinking yacht as quickly as possible.
