Lance insisted, "Prepare the car."
Xavier hesitated, wanting to persuade him otherwise.
But before he could speak, Lance's sharp gaze cut him off. "Go!"
With no choice, Xavier turned to get the car ready.
About ten minutes later, Ollie received Lance's call and came out of the bar.
Upon getting into the car, he saw Lance's haggard face and was taken aback. "Lance, are you sick?"
"I'm fine. I need to ask you, during this time when you've been out with Eula, have you noticed anything unusual about her?"
Lance didn't want to talk about his illness and went straight to the point.
Ollie was stunned for a moment and frowned. "Unusual?"
He thought for a few seconds and then shook his head. "I didn't notice anything unusual. Did something happen?"
"Nothing. Just make a list of the places you took her."
Lance said it plainly.
Ollie found it odd but agreed.
However, Lance showed no intention of leaving.
He gave Xavier a look, and Xavier, understanding, nodded. He found a pen and paper in the car and handed them to Ollie. "Mr. Houghton, please write it quickly. My master needs to rest."
Seeing the notebook handed to him, Ollie was stunned.
"Write it now?"
He looked at Lance in surprise.
Lance didn't speak, but his meaning was clear.
Later, Ollie handed the notebook with several places listed to Lance. "That's about it. Lance, what do you need this for?"
"It's useful. You can go now."
Lance answered briefly and signaled Ollie to leave.
After Ollie left, Lance handed the notebook to Xavier and instructed, "Check these places. I want all the details about Eula's activities there."
Xavier nodded.
...
Meanwhile, on the sea.
Deanna finally woke up from her coma, feeling a burning pain in her throat.
She coughed and sat up in bed, startling the person taking care of her nearby.
"You're awake. Stay put and don't think about escaping. I'll call the doctor."
With that, the maid left the room.
Deanna leaned against the headboard, her eyes deep in thought.
Soon, the doctor arrived.
After a brief examination, he said, "There's nothing serious, but her body is still very weak. Let her rest well for the next two days and stop using the previous medication."
"Okay, I'll inform Miss."
The maid nodded and saw the doctor out.
At this time, Bella learned that Deanna was awake and came over.
She looked at the haggard Deanna on the bed with a vengeful satisfaction in her eyes. "Tsk tsk, so listless. Are you feeling desperate about your future?"
Deanna glanced at her but said nothing.
She didn't want to waste her energy on Bella.
Bella didn't mind and continued with a bright smile, "Enjoy your last two days of freedom. After that, you won't be the high-and-mighty Mrs. Mercer anymore but just a plaything for others."
Deanna pretended not to hear but couldn't help feeling terrified inside.
She clutched the blanket tightly, her pale lips pressed together.
Even so, Bella felt very pleased.
"Alright, take good care of yourself here. Watch over her these two days."
She instructed the maid before turning to leave.
Deanna watched Bella disappear and her eyes flickered.
Two days?
It seemed she needed to plan carefully.
...
The next day, Lance woke up after less than three hours of sleep.
He looked at the empty room, his eyes filled with worry.
He still didn't know where Eula had taken Deanna.
After a quick wash, Lance picked up his phone and contacted Xavier. "Any news on what I asked about yesterday?"
"Uh, no news yet. Mr. Mercer, you're up so early?"
Xavier's voice was still groggy from sleep.
Lance snorted and said, "Push those matters harder these two days. If we find Deanna, your year-end bonus will double."
"Okay, I'll start contacting people now."
Xavier said and got up as well.
Meanwhile, Logan and Samantha brought Old Ashley and the two little ones back to Cloudmere.
Originally, Logan and Samantha wanted to return first and let Old Ashley and the kids wait for Gunner, but the old man insisted on coming back first because he was worried about home.
By the time they arrived, it was already afternoon.
They didn't even rest before surrounding Lance with questions.
"Any news about Deanna?"
"What about Eula? Where did she take Deanna?"
"Bring that woman down here."
Lance waited until they finished speaking before answering in a deep voice, "There's no news about Deanna yet. Eula doesn't admit to taking her. As for Eula herself, I've driven her away."
Hearing this, Logan looked displeased. "You shouldn't have driven her away."
"I had my reasons for making her leave."
