Lance entered the room and began to pick out pajamas for Deanna from his wardrobe.
He picked up the pajamas, but Deanna's image flashed in his mind, causing him to shake his head.
His pajamas were too big for Deanna's petite frame.
After searching for a while, Lance finally found a slightly oversized black shirt and handed it to Deanna.
"Dr. Deanna, my clothes are all a bit big for you, so just make do with this for now."
Deanna reached out, blushing as she took it.
"Okay, thank you, Mr. Mercer."
With that, she closed the door with a bang.
She went back into the bathroom and put the shirt on.
As expected, the shirt was too big, reaching down to her thighs and looking like a dress, covering her completely.
Seeing this, Deanna breathed a sigh of relief.
Looking at herself in the mirror, she suddenly froze.
Sure enough, Lance's clothes were all like this.
Whether it was because they were men's clothes or for some other reason, she always felt a faint scent of masculinity lingering around her...
Just then, her phone rang, interrupting Deanna's thoughts.
She quickly walked outside, picked up her phone, and saw a video call from her two children.
Unconsciously, a smile crept onto Deanna's face.
She answered the call, greeted by the innocent faces of Gregory and Chloe.
They chimed in unison, "Mommy, we miss you so much tonight!"
Since their birth, they had never been apart from Deanna for a single day.
This sudden change, Deanna not returning, how would they adapt?
Finally, just before bedtime, they called Deanna.
The smile on Deanna's face grew even wider as she softly said, "Mommy misses you too. Don't worry, Mommy will be back tomorrow. You two be good and listen to Grandma tonight, okay?"
Gregory patted his chest, looking like a little adult as he nodded earnestly.
"Mommy, you can rest assured, we'll sleep well."
Chloe blinked her big eyes, looking mischievous. "Mommy, why aren't you coming home today? Where are you now? What happened today?"
Seeing Chloe's curious look, Deanna was momentarily at a loss for words.
How should she answer? She couldn't just say she was being chased by someone, could she?
If she did, the two children would surely worry.
She pretended to be relaxed. "I had a busy day at work today, there were some things to take care of, and I couldn't get away. I'll be back as soon as I finish tomorrow."
Chloe sighed and pouted.
Her look of confusion made Deanna wonder if she really understood.
Suddenly, as if discovering something remarkable, a gleam appeared in Chloe's eyes as she asked eagerly.
"Mommy, why haven't I seen you wear this shirt before? Whose shirt is this? It looks a bit like Handsome Uncle's!"
As soon as she said that, Gregory also came over, casting a scrutinizing gaze.
"It really does."
"Mommy, tell us the truth!"
Faced with the two little ones' questioning, Deanna felt somewhat embarrassed for no reason.
She hurriedly explained, "Mommy came over today to help Mr. Mercer with his illness, and then I found a wonderful medicinal field here. There was a little trouble afterwards, so I got delayed. I didn't have any clothes to change into after my shower tonight, so I borrowed this from Mr. Mercer."
Although there was nothing to hide, for some reason, Deanna felt strange explaining to them.
It was as if she was trying to cover something up.
The two little ones exchanged glances, elongating their voices as they spoke, implying that they understood without explanation.
Gregory even chuckled, "Alright, now we know."
"Mommy, you should get along well with Uncle. Focus on your work. We can take care of ourselves, no need to rush back."
Deanna was stunned, feeling bewildered.
How could these two have such a reaction?
Shouldn't normal children cry and beg Mommy to come home?
Before she could say anything, Chloe chimed in again.
Puckering her lips, she said in a cute voice, "Mommy, I quite like Handsome Uncle. You should put more effort into wooing him back home to be our daddy. We won't mind at all~"
With such a clever look, it was hard to believe they were just a few years old.
Deanna chuckled helplessly, feeling amazed.
These were still children, yet they were expressing such strong fondness for someone else for the first time.
Deanna put on a serious face.
"Alright, you two, it's getting late. Go to bed now. Mommy will be back home tomorrow."
Chloe clearly had more to say, but she just pouted.
"Fine, Mommy, you have to try harder."
After exchanging goodnights, Deanna hung up the phone, feeling both helpless and amused, and walked to the balcony.
