Duncan frowned, "Why is it a woman?"
"What's wrong with a woman?" Eula said displeased, walking straight to the sofa opposite Duncan and sitting down.
Under the light, her red lips curved into a mocking smile. "You look down on women, yet you ended up being defeated by one. Now you're like a dog without a home, running everywhere."
Duncan's face instantly darkened at her words.
"Shut up!"
He shouted angrily, suddenly standing up from the sofa. "I don't want to cooperate with you anymore. Goodbye."
With that, he walked towards the door of the private room.
Eula didn't stop him. Instead, she poured herself a glass of wine, elegantly swirling it, not worried at all that he would leave.
Indeed, Duncan opened the door only to be blocked by two burly foreign men outside.
"Get out of my way!"
Duncan tried to push past them but failed.
The two men's arms were like iron bars, making it impossible for him to move them.
Duncan was both angry and a bit scared.
He turned back to glare at the mysterious woman sitting leisurely on the sofa and asked angrily, "What do you mean by this?"
"It's simple. Answer a few questions for me, and I'll let you go and ensure your safe passage out of the city," Eula said, looking up at him.
Duncan frowned deeply. "Why should I believe you?"
"Because you have no other choice," Eula replied, downing her glass of red wine. She glanced at her watch and continued, "I don't have much time left, only five minutes. If you don't cooperate, I'll have to go with Plan B and hand you over to Lance to gain his trust."
Duncan didn't want to be handed over to Lance, so he reluctantly agreed, though he kept a mental note of this incident.
Once he left, he would find out who this woman was and teach her a lesson for daring to threaten him.
"What do you want to ask?"
Despite his hatred, Duncan's face remained cold as he questioned her.
Eula didn't respond immediately but said coldly, "Close the door first."
With no choice, Duncan closed the door.
"Can we talk now?" He looked at Eula with dark eyes.
Eula's expression turned serious as she asked firmly, "What is the command you used to hypnotize Deanna?"
Duncan's heart skipped a beat at her question, and his eyes sharpened.
"What else do you know?"
"You are not in a position to ask questions. You should answer mine. You have two minutes left," Eula reminded him.
Duncan stared at the woman not far away. Despite his resentment and confusion, he finally said, "I hypnotized Deanna with my voice."
"Your voice?"
Eula frowned, clearly dissatisfied with this answer.
She looked at Duncan dangerously. "I hate being lied to. Everyone who has lied to me has been fed to the sharks."
Duncan knew this was a warning but insisted, "If you don't believe me, you can record my voice and play it in front of Deanna."
Eula was still somewhat skeptical.
But she didn't have much time left since she had left Ollie's party under the pretense of changing clothes.
In the end, she instructed Avery to record Duncan's voice and then left the private room.
Meanwhile, Lance finished his negotiations with Raphael and returned to the manor with the transfer contract of the Howard family.
In the room, Deanna hadn't gone to bed yet.
Seeing Lance return late, she approached him with concern. "Why are you back so late?"
"I had some matters to deal with. But you should have gone to bed early instead of waiting for me," Lance said tenderly, looking at Deanna's tired face.
He knew that the research at the institute had reached a critical stage. To prevent any data changes, Deanna and Lionel hadn't slept well for days. Today, Mr. Martinez had sent them back to rest for two days to prevent them from collapsing in the lab.
Deanna knew Lance was concerned about her and smiled sweetly. "I know, but I can't sleep without you here."
"Oh, you..."
Lance looked at her dotingly before changing the subject. "Since you can't sleep, there's something I need to tell you."
Deanna looked at him curiously. "What is it?"
"Take a look at this first."
Lance handed her the transfer document of Howard Group without explaining further.
When Deanna saw the content, she was shocked. "How did Raphael agree to this?"
"He had no choice but to agree. He owes you this," Lance snorted coldly and recounted tonight's cooperation with Raphael in capturing someone.
In the end, he sighed regretfully. "Cunning as Duncan, he sensed something was wrong and escaped first."
