Chapter 68 – Never let her go again

KIRA.

As I approached the Melting Pot restaurant, I noticed the modern, yet cozy exterior. The building was a mix of brick and dark wood paneling, giving it a rustic yet refined feel. The large glass windows wrapped around the front of the restaurant gave me a glimpse of the lively atmosphere inside.

Above the entrance, a wooden sign with the words “The Melting Pot” in bold letters caught my eye. As I got closer, the smell of fresh herbs and spices wafted through the air, signaling the restaurant’s dedication to flavor and quality.

On either side of the entrance, large potted plants added a touch of greenery to the sidewalk. They filled the outdoor seating area with comfortable chairs and tables, inviting you to take a seat and enjoy a meal alfresco.

As I stepped inside, a warm and welcoming atmosphere greeted me, with soft lighting and cozy seating areas. The décor was a mix of modern and rustic, with exposed brick walls and wooden accents throughout. I could hear the hustle and bustle of the kitchen in the background, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the restaurant.

And there she was.

Mrs. Murray sat at the table in the restaurant’s corner nervously twirling her hair as she anxiously awaited my arrival. She had been anticipating this meeting for hours, ever since I had agreed to help her with the custody trial.

As she saw me enter the restaurant, she stood up and waved excitedly, beckoning me over to the table.

“Miss Reed! Thank you so much for coming,” she exclaimed as I approached. “I really appreciate your help with the custody trial.”

I smiled warmly and took a seat across from her.

“Of course, Mrs. Murray. I’m happy to help in any way I can.”

Mrs. Murray took a deep breath and leaned forward, her eyes filled with determination.

“Miss Reed, I want to win custody of my children outright. I can’t bear the thought of losing them. Can you help me come up with a strategy that will make me look good in court?”

I nodded thoughtfully.

“Well, first of all, we need to present you as a stable, responsible parent. You’ll want to demonstrate that you’re able to provide a safe and nurturing environment for your children. I may not be a lawyer, but I can advise you and create a file with your description that will help your lawyer”

Mrs. Murray nodded, her eyes wide with anticipation.

“Yes, yes, of course. I’m a good mother, Miss Reed. I love my children more than anything in the world.”

I smiled sympathetically.

“I know you do, Mrs. Murray. And that’s why your lawyer needs to show the court that you’re willing to do whatever it takes to make sure your children are safe and happy.”

The woman nodded eagerly, leaning in closer to me.

“Yes, absolutely. Whatever it takes. What else can we do to make me look good in court?”

I took a sip of my coffee and paused for a moment, thinking.

“Well, we could try to present you as someone who is actively involved in your children’s lives. Do you attend their school events? Are you involved in their extracurricular activities?”

Mrs. Murray nodded eagerly.

“Yes, I’m always at their soccer games and dance recitals. I help them with their homework and read to them every night.”

I smiled encouragingly.

“That’s great, Mrs. Murray. We’ll definitely want to highlight those things in court. And we can also try to show that you have a stable income and an excellent support system in place.”

Mrs. Murray looked slightly worried.

“What do you mean by support system?”

I leaned in closer, my voice gentle.

“Well, do you have family and friends who can vouch for your character? People who can testify to your ability to parent your children?”

Mrs. Murray thought for a moment, then nodded slowly.

“Yes, I have some friends who would be willing to speak on my behalf. And my sister would testify for me, I’m sure.”

I nodded thoughtfully.

“That’s good, Mrs. Murray. We can use all of that in court. But the most important thing is to present yourself as someone who is willing to put your children’s needs first, above everything else.”

Mrs. Murray nodded fervently, her eyes filled with tears.

“I will do whatever it takes to keep my children with me, Miss Reed. I can’t imagine life without them.”

I reached across the table and took her hand.

“I know, Mrs. Murray. And we’ll do everything we can to make sure that doesn’t happen. With the right strategy and the right mindset, I’m confident we can win this custody battle.”

A few days later, Mrs Murray went to court and with the information gathered by me her lawyer got her full custody of the boys. And this even though Mr. Murray was a wealthy and well-connected man. Just like Gabriel was.

It was like a victory for me. I was beginning to heal. Because the day I would get Maddie back, I couldn’t afford to be mentally disturbed.

I couldn’t believe how successful my new legal advice business had been! When I first started this venture, I was so nervous. I wasn’t sure if anyone would actually want my help. But now, after just a few weeks, I have already helped so many women regain their confidence and win their children back to their side.

It was an amazing feeling to know that I was making a real difference in people’s lives. Every time I got a call or a message from a client thanking me for my help, it just reinforced that I made the right decision to start this business.

I remember one case in particular where a woman was fighting to get custody of her children after a messy divorce. She was so overwhelmed and didn’t know where to turn. But after working with me, she was able to present her case in court with confidence and ultimately won custody of her children back.

That kind of success story was what drove me to keep going. I knew there were so many women out there who were struggling and feeling hopeless in their legal battles. But with my help, they could regain their confidence and they took back control of their lives.

I was so proud of the work that I was doing and I couldn’t wait to see what the future would hold for my business. I knew that there would be challenges along the way, but I was confident that I had the skills and knowledge to help my clients overcome any obstacle that comes their way.

I truly believed that my legal advice business was making a real difference in the world. And that was something that I was incredibly proud of.

It was only after a month of hard work that I took an evening at home and relax.

As I sat in my quiet room, scrolling through my phone, my mind suddenly wandered to Maddie. My precious little girl, who had been in Gabriel’s custody for a month now. Gabriel, her father, whom I had loved with all my heart once, but who had betrayed me in the most unimaginable way possible.

I couldn’t help but feel a sense of sadness as I thought of Maddie. I wondered what she was doing, what she was eating, how she felt in his company. Was she happy? Was she missing me as much as I was missing her? Did she know how much I loved her and longed for her to be back in my arms?

The thought of not being with Maddie every day made my heart ache. I missed her giggles, her hugs, and the sound of her voice. I wanted to be the one to put her to bed at night, to read her stories, and to tuck her in. But instead, I was left to wonder, to imagine, and to hope that she was being taken care of and loved just as much as I did.

I knew Gabriel loved Maddie too, but that didn’t make it any easier. The fact that he was her father didn’t change the fact that I was her mother, and that I wanted to be there for her every moment of her life. It was hard to let go, to trust that she was safe and happy, and that Gabriel would take care of her the way I would.

As I closed my eyes and let out a deep breath, I promised myself that I would do everything in my power to make sure that Maddie knew how much I loved her. Even though we were apart, she was always in my heart. And one day, we would be reunited, and I would never let her go again.
