The only Solution
~Kennedy Pov~
I looked at the mother and daughter who still had tears in their eyes but all I cared about right now was what the mother had said. I gulped nervously and clenched my fist with excitement.
How much I had wanted Alina's voice to be healed? How much I had hoped for this? To hear her voice, to hear her call my name loudly, but I don't want her to be disappointed, so even if she is Alina's mother, I still wish she would think clearly before answering.
"Are you a healer?!" I asked with excitement as that was the only conclusion I could think of.
Father looked at me then nodded proudly, "Yes! My mate is a healer, a very good one at that!" He said proudly and even looked at me with a smug look but I couldn't care about that at the moment as all I could think of was his words.
"Then…she could save her, right?!" I thought with excitement then looked at her with bright eyes.
The coldness and uneasiness I was feeling while on our way here as I was scared they would convince Alina to leave with them evaporated immediately and more than that, I was glad I had saved them.
I watched as her mother looked at Alina who was filled with excitement and anticipation, then she held Alina's hand and said in between laughter, "Let's go! I will take you to check your throat!" She said and before I could request to follow along, she turned around and glared at me coldly, "Don't follow us! You both should stay here!" She ordered then left without looking back.
My lips twitched seeing the heartless Alina not even looking back for a minute to look at me, but I smiled seeing the happiness radiating from her body-She is filled with so much hope.
I turned around to see Father still standing there with his crutches now clenched in his hand to support him, "Father! Sit down while we wait for them!" I said then walked towards my seat, but not hearing a sound from me, I turned around and I was shocked to see the old man looking at me with disdain and contempt.
I stood speechlessly, "what have I done this time? I only asked him to sit and what is that look of disdain I see?!" I thought then rubbed my forehead.
If it was someone else who kept glaring at me and looking at me with a look of disdain, I would have done my crawls into the person's eyes, but it was my mate's father so I have no other choice than to ignore him.
I ignored him and walked towards the chair to sit with my eyes fixed on the door where Alina and her mother had passed through. I tried to link my mind to Alina but it seemed she had cleared her mind. I could feel she was nervous, which I understand.
If I had known Alina could be treated by her mother, I would have ignored Alina's words and saved them long before. But I hope it turns out well so as not to disappoint Alina. And if truly she can treat Alina, then-Maybe she can also treat Adana, right?
I shook the thought away when it came to my mind. Her treating Alina is already a big surprise but Adana? Only the Black stone can, but…. I am not also sure if the black stone can save her, but I will just have to try.
I closed my eyes as I thought about all this because I know the problem with all this is if Mother can let go of this stone. This stone is a powerful one and they didn't let it go to save their life so how sure am I that she would give it to me?
The sound of the door clicking and footsteps interrupted my thought and when I looked up, I saw her mother but didn't see Alina which got me so confused.
I stood up and walked closer to her immediately, "Alina?" I asked coldly with my gaze still fixed on the door.
"She won't come out now. I made her sleep and I don't think she will be waking up any minute." She responded seriously and that was when noticed her face and voice were strained and not happy.
"Kira? What's wrong? What did you find out? Is it treatable?" Roy, Alina's father asked her.
My heartbeat became erratic as I fixed my eyes on her too. "What's wrong?!" I asked in a chilly voice but only I know how much nervousness I hide inside my heart.
Mother Kira looked at us pinched the middle of her brows then sighed helplessly, "I never knew it was this damaged. No wonder the healers at your place still hadn't been able to heal her throat. Who the heck did this to my daughter?!" She cussed angrily with eyes blazing with so much anger.
I looked at her and gritted my teeth, "What can we do about it? You have a solution right?" I asked calmly. I knew if she didn't have a solution she wouldn't be this calm.
She was stunned for a while and looked at me deeply, "You are her mate, and I know you want the best for her so I will trust you." She said then looked at her mate and then turned back to look at me.
"Yes! I have a solution! But.., it is complicated, and the solution involves something powerful and it's also what makes us enemies with the Alpha of the Silvercrest and I think you should have known about it, right?!"
My mind went blank for a moment, my heart trembled and I looked at them with shock. Why wouldn't I understand what is going on? How can it turn out this way?
The only thing involved in this is the Black stone!
I looked at their faces then asked again, "The black stone?!"
