Chapter409 Reunion with Your Father
At Kings University, early in the morning, a Maserati pulled up at the front gate, and William stepped out. His primary reason for being there was to meet with Sophia and Rebecca.
The next step he and Vivian had devised was to gather as many allies as possible to confront the Miller family. Relying solely on BN Group simply wasn't enough.
William set off to approach the Smiths, Hamiltons, and Hughes families after a thorough discussion. Vivian and Peter were tasked with contacting other influential clans.
A grand strategy of alliances was silently unfolding.
After a phone call with Sophia, William found out they were in classroom B#302. He hung up and quickly proceeded there.
With a class in session, William could only wait for them in the corridor of the third floor, his gaze wandering in the dull silence. His eyes caught a glimpse of a slim and striking figure exiting the restroom.
"Hey, isn't that Rebecca?" A wave of pleasant surprise washed over William at the sight of the woman he was looking for as she emerged. He briskly walked toward her.
Rebecca, dressed in a red gown with a daring slit, captivated onlookers with her curves on full display.
Her enchanting beauty was breathtaking. Her auburn waves cascaded deliberately over her left shoulder, adding an extra touch of allure and temptation. She had ruby red lips and curves that demanded attention.
While considered one of Canada’s top four beauties, William, accustomed to the company of stunning women, didn’t find her particularly mesmerizing.
Whether it was his girlfriend, Michelle Wilson or his fiancée Sophia, both were stunning in their own right. Accustomed to their exceptional beauty, Rebecca seemed quite ordinary in comparison.
"Rebecca, do you remember me?" William greeted as he approached.
"Why would I remember a loser like you?" Rebecca retorted with haughty disdain, eyeing William as if he were beneath her. She was like a proud swan amongst ducks.
"We met during freshman orientation," William reminded her, trying to jog her memory.
"Oh? I don't remember. You're not trying to hit on me, are you? Don't waste your time. Even a hundred years wouldn’t be enough for a loser like you to get someone like me," Rebecca sneered, looking at William's modest clothes with a tinge of disgust.
"I'm not interested in chasing you. I just wanted to let you know that your father isn’t dead." William couldn't help but be amused by her assumption, though he could understand. After all, she was one of Canada's prized beauties, likely used to constant admiration.
"My father isn't dead? How do you know about my father’s disappearance?" Rebecca's brow furrowed slightly, a hint of caution rising in her heart.
"Don't worry about how I know. Let me take you to him," William offered, thinking it best for father and daughter to reunite soon.
However, Rebecca didn't trust William, even suspecting him of harboring malicious intent.
"Why should I believe you? For all I know, you might be plotting to kidnap me," Rebecca said, eyeing William warily.
"What can I do to make you trust me?" William asked, at a loss for words.
"I won't believe you. You're just a broke guy trying to play tricks to win me over. I've seen your type before. Now step aside," Rebecca uttered with finality, her anger barely concealed.
William was baffled. He didn’t expect such mistrust. In a helpless gesture, he reached for his phone to call Donald and have him explain to Rebecca directly.
Just then, a well-dressed young man approached William quickly, a note of concern in his voice.
"What's wrong, Rebecca? Some pest bothering you again?"
While speaking, he sized up William from head to toe. A flicker of contempt and mockery crossed his eyes upon noting William's unsophisticated attire.
"A broke loser trying to con me with stories about my father? That's just naive," Rebecca said with a teasing smirk.
"Leave it to me," Kadis replied, a corner of his mouth lifting. He was chasing after Rebecca and wouldn't let some penniless nobody compete with him. He then turned to William with a threatening tone. "I suggest you stay away from Rebecca, or I'll make sure you regret it. Ever heard of the Willow family?"
"The Willow family? Of course, the eighth-ranked family in the country. Which son of the Willow family are you?" William's smile was slight. He had done his homework on the influential families and power structures in Canada well before arriving, so he was quite familiar with the Willow family's standing.
"Ha, you've got some insight. Doesn't matter which son I am. A country bumpkin like you seems out of place, so beat it," Kadis said angrily.
"Let me guess, Kadis, you must be from a collateral branch of the Willow family." William's smile was subtle now. He knew the Willow family had many descendants, and several branches at that.
William remembered that Kadis's name wasn't among the heirs of the direct line, so he surmised this young man must be from one of the side branches.
"How do you know that?" Kadis was momentarily surprised but quickly recovered, not wanting to lose face in front of the woman he admired. "Direct or not, if you don't leave, I won't be polite."
"Well, I'm not going anywhere. Let's see how you plan to get tough with me," William replied with a placid smile.
"Fine, I've got connections with the Flood Boxing Guild. If you don't leave, I'll get someone from the Guild to handle you," Kadis threatened, taking out his phone to make a call.
"People from the Flood Boxing Guild?" William chuckled.
"What? Scared? The Flood Boxing Guild is one of the most formidable martial arts factions in Canada right now, full of masters," Kadis boasted.
He had previously heard that the Flood Boxing Guild had taken down the Das Guild and had purposefully befriended a minor leader within the Guild, hoping to leverage their strength. Now, it seemed, it might just pay off.
"I'm afraid it may be you who might end up on your knees begging for mercy," William said with a faint smile on his lips.
"Me, begging for mercy? In your dreams. If you've got the guts, come on down with me. My backup is about to arrive," Kadis boasted after hanging up the phone. It wasn't ideal to stir up trouble in the academic building, but once they got outside, it would be a different story.
"Of course, if you're scared, just beat it and stay away from Rebecca. The farther the better."
"Sorry, but I'm taking Rebecca with me today. She's going to reunite with her dad, and no one's going to stop me. But to put your mind at ease, I'll go down with you," William replied calmly.
"You broke loser, still making up lies to trick me. Just wait till my guys get here and see how they handle you." Rebecca was furious that William kept using the lie about her father to deceive her.
The disappearance of her father was painful enough, and to have William, a penniless nobody, invent stories about him only added to her anger.
William sighed. Rebecca was truly stubborn.
