“ i like you chris your kinda cute we should effinalty do this again”
I almost jumped for jpy as the words passed her lips, not only was i hanging out with the cool kids from school i also had a chance with an older girl who most definitely seemed to like me. All thoughts of abbey had been washed from my mind at this point. As i was walking down the drive i bumped into josh who was definitely handling himself better than i was. Clearly he was more accustomed to events like this and the drinking and smoking that came with it. I ambled over to him and spoke in a rather husky voice from the smoking.
“ how do you manage with the headaches and rough stomach?”
He heartily laughed as he took me into a hug and walked while speaking
“ well first off we need to grab a fry up as thats always good for the stomach the headache however cant be cured, it does fade over time the more you get used to drinking. I have been doing it for so long that i dont even get them anymore”
We continued walking until we reached a cafe near the town centre, we entered and immediately i felt a ravenous hunger as i realised i hadnt actually eaten since the sunday morning. We sat at a table and a server came over and took our order. Josh ordered for both of us and also paid. This ifteed a weight of my mind as i didnt really have money.
“ next time you can pay”
I smiled and shrugged as i told him that i didnt get money and would need to find a way to earn some cash if i was going to be paying for things, again josh smiled and laughed as he said.
“ its cool i can hook you up with a guy who can help you earn some cash, its not legit work but it makes good money and can get you free smoke sometimes. Plus if you get in good with him then you can chill at his or crash at his whenever you want as he has his own flat.”
I wasnt entirely sure what he meant by not legit work but the appeal of some cash and maybe free smoke was enough to wash these worries away. The food arrived and we ate in silence, true to what josh had said the fry up cured my stomach, just before we left josh went to the toilets and returned with a joint behind his ear. He had clearly gone to the loo to roll without drawing to much attention to himself. As soon as we got outside he lit the joint took about 3 puffs from it and handed it to me.
I took the joint and began to smoke, it didnt take long before i realised that smoking was helping with my headache and also helping to clear some of the fuzzyness from my ind. I couldnt believe what i had done the fact that i knew i really liked abbey yet couldnt resist the urge to do things with emily, i was hopeful i would see her again but having very much mixed feelings about both abbey and emily and how all this was actually going to play out. Their was a part of me that wondered if it would be possible to see both girls at the same time and if so ow i would manage to do so.
We walked for what must have been about half an hour before we reached a blck of flats on the opposite end of town. From the outside it looked pretty run down and rough and i knew this was definitely an older block of council flats. Josh walked up and pushed one of the buzzers, i heard a faint click as josh spoke quietly
“ its josh i got a mate who needs help with cash and i know your looking for another runner”
The door buzzed as josh pushed on it. As soon as we entered i noticed a heavy earthy smell that was now becoming a familiar feature in my life. We walked up 2 flights of stairs before we reached the door we were going to enter. It was number 6 and the door was unlocked. We went inside as the earthy musky smell got heavier. Josh again led the way as we went into the living room, i was greeted by an older man who was sat on a sofa smoking while playing on a new gen console on a large screen. He looked me over before offering me a seat and a smoke.
“ you looking to make some extra cash ?”
I waited a momant before answering
“ not extra just cash “
He nodded as he accepted my statement
