A Promise
Aiden was silent for a few moments, he still couldn't believe what Azura had just told him. Azura missed her, this girl even waited for hours in front of the door until she fell asleep. He wanted to cry, but it felt so strange considering that they had only been together for three days and there was no reason for Azura to miss him.
"What are you talking about? Why are you sleeping here?" Slightly annoyed, Aiden asked just to cover up the emotion he felt in his heart. Azura looked at him with a sad gaze, smiling gently at him. Makes his heart beat fast.
Azura touched Aiden's face with both hands, she also didn't know why she missed Aiden so much like this.
"I don't know, I just miss you." He said softly. It felt like this situation would make their relationship even stranger. Aiden recalled Frederic's plan asking him to immediately form a pack, remembering that he was actually an alpha wolf who needed a large pack. But after 250 years of living in this world, he still doesn't feel worthy of it.
There are several reasons, but the main one is of course his status as a half-human which makes it difficult for him to blend in and gain the trust of other wolves. Its immense power is unstoppable, inversely proportional to its undesirable existence.
Aiden hugged Azura's body very tightly, he was happy because he had someone who was willing to stay with him and be by his side for now. Even though he knew this would only last temporarily, he really enjoyed it.
Azura was amazed when Aiden hugged her like this, she was at a loss for words other than letting Aiden hug her. For some reason, he could feel the sadness that Aiden felt, which somehow just appeared in his heart. The same sadness he had felt for decades.
"I promise I will definitely take you home."
"It's okay, Aiden. I also want to thank you. You are very kind and care about me. That's why before I leave, I also want to be useful to you. Well, at least if that's all I can do, then I will definitely do it for you."
Azura's sincere smile made Aiden feel guilty. Some time ago, he asked Azura to be his mate, which he knew maybe Azura didn't really understand what he meant. It felt like he was trying to take advantage of her sincerity towards him.
"Damn, I feel like a complete jerk!" He thought. He knew that he shouldn't try to take advantage of Azura. Making this girl a "Mate" who is literally a partner for him is a bit risky, considering that Azura is also not from the werewolf race. Even though he was very sure that Azura was not an ordinary human either. However, he didn't smell a wolf at all or find any signs that Azura was part werewolf. This will become more complicated if it turns out that Azura is a dangerous type of creature.
Aiden got up and asked Aura to stand up. They should immediately go inside the house and continue this conversation in a slightly warmer place.
Aiden walked into the kitchen, took an empty glass and filled the glass with water flowing from the tap. He hasn't said anything else even though his head is still thinking hard about the steps he will take other than involving Azura.
Behind him, Azura stood confused. She mistakenly thought that Aiden was angry with her because he waited for her without asking until she fell asleep at the door.
"Aiden, are you angry with me?" The simple question full of prejudice that he said made Aiden almost choke and vomit the water that had entered his throat.
"What? What are you talking about? Who's mad at you?"
"You looked angry, so I thought maybe I had made a mistake. That's why you-"
"I'm not angry with you. I'm just thinking!"
"Thinking about what?"
"About Us!"
"W-we?" Azura immediately blushed, her face red. She didn't know what Aiden said 'about us' meant. He didn't know that they actually had a relationship like that.
Seeing the funny look on Azura's face made Aiden laugh. He didn't mean to make this girl think that the two of them had a special relationship after living together for a few days.
"Hahaha...what are you thinking about?" He said while laughing out loud. He couldn't help but laugh because Azura really looked that innocent.
"Why are you laughing, Aiden?"
"Hahaha...gosh, your face looks so stupid. You must think that we are a couple, right? What do you expect from me?"
"I don't think we're a couple at all. I'm just confused because you said you thought about us, that's all!"
"Oh yeah? Is that so? Hahaha...you're so cute, don't you know that? Why are you waiting for me at the door anyway? Why don't you just sleep?"
"I can't sleep!"
"Why?"
"Because you haven't come back, I feel restless."
"Are you afraid that a thief will come into this shabby apartment and steal that old TV and radio or do something bad to you? Don't worry, no thief will come into this place. Look at it from anywhere, everyone knows. there will be no valuables stored here."
"It's not like that! I didn't think anyone else would come in at all. I just-" Azura was too embarrassed to continue her words. Somehow he felt that he had made a mistake.
"Just what?" Aiden asked him and it made it even more difficult for him to answer. There was a rumbling in his heart that he couldn't understand and it made him feel very guilty somehow.
"I-I'm just afraid you'll leave me and not come back."
"Like your lover?"
"N-no, he-"
"Never mind! I don't want to say that I will always be by your side. I also don't want to promise that I won't leave you. The only promise I will keep is one, I will definitely take you home."
