Chapter 103Amelia’s Thoughts

The morning before, Avery Harris nearly fell out of bed in excitement when she saw the viral news post. The Heart of the Universe was coming to CUG City for a public appearance, and this time, it was free. How could she not be thrilled?

Moreover, she was curious to see which lucky lady would receive such a precious proposal gift.

After breakfast yesterday, Avery had called Liam Thompson to see if he could secure a good spot through his contacts at the CUG City Mansion.

Liam, of course, readily agreed. This was precisely the outcome he had hoped for.

Initially, Matthew and Kimberly Harris, along with Amelia, weren't inclined to attend. They knew the event would be packed, and with little Ruby being so young, it would be far from convenient.

However, Liam had asked Avery to reassure the family, promising them a spot in the private section where they wouldn’t be crowded.

With this assurance, the three of them grudgingly agreed to join the event for the spectacle.

"Avery, why don’t you go with Mom and Dad? I think I'll stay home with Ruby," Amelia suggested.

"Hey, why are you here again, sis? Didn't we agree to go check it out together?" Avery Harris replied.

"This is the last chance to admire the 'Heart of the Universe' up close. After tonight, it becomes someone's private treasure, and it'll be out of sight forever."

"Plus, didn't your guy, Liam, say he was planning some big surprise proposal for you? Maybe seeing someone else's elaborate proposal tonight will light a fire under him—stop him from just talking big."

"Avery, watch your mouth!" Matthew Harris shot Avery a warning glance.

"As long as Amelia is happy with him, that's all that matters. Who cares about some surprise proposal!"

"Let me warn you, when Liam Thompson shows up later, don't say anything that'll stress him out, got it?"

"I got it, I'm just teasing!" Avery stuck out her tongue and mumbled.

"Besides, It was Amelia who told Liam to propose—not me."

"Avery Harris, are you asking for trouble?" Amelia rolled her eyes at her sister. "I was just kidding when I said that!"

At that moment, Amelia couldn't shake a tinge of disappointment.

Just yesterday, she had cautiously asked Liam Thompson about their marriage, considering she hadn't officially started working yet.

But Liam had said there was no rush since he hadn't proposed yet.

Through spending time together, her understanding of Liam had deepened. She recognized his capabilities were far beyond those of an average man.

Although she was still in the dark about what Liam really did, she was certain he was no ordinary man.

And the more she got to know Liam, the less confident she felt about herself.

From what she had learned, she felt completely out of Liam’s league as if they belonged to different social spheres.

She worried Liam’s statement about not being in a hurry to get married was a sign he never really considered marrying her in the first place.

"Sis, does that mean you don't need a proposal from Liam anymore? You two should hurry up and get marriage then!" Avery teased with a laugh.

"Liam is such an amazing guy—you've got to lock it down, sis. Otherwise, if someone scoops him up, you'll regret it for the rest of your life!"

“Avery Harris, what are you blabbering about!” Kimberly snapped, “There's no way someone could steal Liam Thompson!”

After saying that, her voice trailed off as she glanced at Amelia: “But, Amelia, just to be safe, maybe you should get marriage sooner rather than later—you know, just in case.”

“Got it!” Amelia replied, taking a deep breath.

Five minutes later, Liam Thompson and Robert Wilson walked through the front door.

“Daddy, Uncle Robert!” Ruby ran over to them at once.

“There’s my sweet Ruby, come here for a hug!” Liam said with a laugh, lifting Ruby into his arms.

Then the two men greeted the entire Harris family.

“Liam, we should head out now; I’m worried we might not make it in time,” Avery Harris urged, walking over.

“Ha, no rush; it’s still early. Let's wait a bit longer,” Liam chuckled in response.

“Still early? Look at the time! We can’t wait any longer; we’ll be late! We have to go now!” Avery was frantic.

“Relax Avery, we’ve got plenty of time!” Robert Wilson assured with a laugh. “Plus, I guarantee you, your family is going to have the best view in the house!”

How could they be late? The main event can't start without the guest of honor!

“But…” Avery was clearly still nervous.

“Avery, if Liam Thompson and Robert Wilson say it’s fine, then we have nothing to worry about!” Matthew Harris interrupted.

“Besides, it’s too uncomfortable to stand around there too early. Let’s head out later.”

“Fine then,” Avery pouted.

At seven in the evening, the family was ready to leave the house.

“Wow!” Avery exclaimed upon seeing the bright red Porsche convertible parked in front of a Land Rover.

“Liam, don’t tell me—this is your car!?”

“I borrowed it from a friend,” Liam said with an easy smile.

“The Land Rover’s too crammed for all of us, so I had a friend lend me a ride last minute.”

“It’s gorgeous!” Avery circled the sports car, her face lit up with excitement.

“If you like it Avery, I’ll talk to my friend tomorrow about giving it to you,” Liam smiled again.

Avery Harris choked on her own spit, gasping in shock. "Bro, don't mess with me like that, my heart can't take such big surprises!"

"I'm not kidding, Avery. I'll have the car delivered to you tomorrow." Liam Thompson reaffirmed with another smile.

"Liam, cut it out will ya? She's still in school. Driving such a fancy ride is not appropriate." Amelia rolled her eyes at him.

She could tell from Liam's grin that he was at least eighty percent serious about his offer.

"Ha, I totally forgot Avery's still got a year left before graduation!" Liam mused, acknowledging Amelia's point.

"Well, we'll wait until next year then. It'll be a killer graduation gift for Avery!"

"You serious, Liam?" Avery's face was a picture of astonishment.

"Absolutely!" Liam shrugged with certainty.

"Really? That's awesome, thanks so much, bro!" Avery danced around, her face beaming with pure joy.

Five minutes later, Liam and Amelia hopped into their Porsche, while Robert Wilson, along with Matthew and Ruby took their seats in the Land Rover.

Together, the family embarked on their journey towards the CUG City Mansion.
