Chapter 16: Dinner and a Question

Once Danial was done teasing the flustered brunette, they got dressed and headed out the door to the Bennett family mansion for their weekly dinner.

Jay was lost in thought as he drove, thinking about the question he wanted to ask Danial's parents. They had been dating for almost three months and Jay wasn't sure if they were moving too fast, but he couldn't help but want a future with his toned blonde lover. He hoped that it would be okay to ask the Bennett's this special question that had been on the tip of his tongue for the last two weeks. It was also the reason he had been putting in so many extra hours the last couple of weeks.

"Deku, are you okay over there? You're mumbling but I can't quite make out what you are saying." Danial asks, a grin on his face as the tall brunette's face turns bright red.

"Oh, it's nothing. I was just thinking about something." Jay says rushed; face still flushed bright red.

They pulled up to the Bennett mansion, just in time for Jay to escape any more of Danial's questions. Amusing the blonde greatly when Jay bolted from the car and opened the door for Danial, like always. Danial chuckled at the flustered brunette as he grabbed his hand.

"Calm down Deku." Danial said, smirking as they walked up to the large oak door. They knocked twice before one of the maids opened the door, taking their jackets before walking away.

"Jay, good to see you!" Margret smiled at the giant brunette as she brought him in for a hug, smirking at the growling Danial.

"What about me, Hag! And no touching!" Danial growled as he yanked Jay away from his mother, holding the grinning brunette tightly in his arms.

"Oh, calm down, Brat. I was just playing." Margret laughs as she walks into the sitting room, the pair right behind her. They took a seat on the couch across from Margret who was still smirking smugly at her glowering son. "So, how is work going Jay? Heard you are working more lately." Margret gave Jay a suspicious look before grinning at him. She could see the taller male was up to something.

"Ya... I just... I just want to make a little more money... to pull my own weight is all." Jay stuttered, looking a little sheepish. Everyone was well aware that Danial made more money than Jay, but that was never an issue for the blonde's parents.

"Very honorable of you Jay," Liam said, walking into the room to sit beside his wife with a gentle smile.

"I don't know why he feels like he needs to. I am perfectly fine with how much Deku makes." Danial says, sitting back crossing his arms. Jay smiles lovingly at the smaller male before bending down to kiss Danial's cheek, making Danial's eyes widen as a blush crawl onto his face.

"Thank you, Danny," Jay whispers into the blushing blonde's ear, softly kissing it after.

Margret and Liam smile at the display before dinner is called and they move into the dining room. The dinner was nice, and they all laughed and joked through the whole meal, Danial being the target of many of their teases. It was a great night for Margret and Jay who loved watching the small blonde get all flustered. Liam just softly smiled at his family as he ate his dinner and drank his glass of wine. At the end of dinner, just as Danial and Jay were putting on their coats, Jay remembered that he needed to talk to Margret and Liam.

"Hey, Danny, I'll meet you at the car." Jay says, turning to look from Danial to the older couple. Danial cocks a curious eyebrow before slowly nodding his head.

"Okay Deku. Just don't take too long." Danial's voice was full of suspicion as he continued to eye the strange behavior of his boyfriend before walking through the door. "Night Hag, Old Man. See you next week."

"So, what did you want to ask us, Jay?" Margret asks, an interested look on her face. Jay started to get nervous, shifting from foot to foot. Trying to build up the courage to ask what he needed too.

"I... umm... wanted to ask you guys something." Jay says meeting the parents' eyes.

"Ask us what son?" Liam asks softly, sensing Jay's nervousness. Jay takes a deep breath, straightening his back. Trying to look like the adult he was. He needed to do this if he was going to have a future with the love of his life.

"I wanted to ask if I could..."

Danial was sitting in the car; he could feel his nerves light up with anxiousness from what he could only imagine Jay was talking to his parents about. Just as he was about to get out and go grab his boyfriend, Jay opened the driver's side door and hopped in. Danial could tell the brunette was really happy about something and he couldn't help but want to know.

"What was that about?" The blonde asks, skeptically eyeing the smiling brunette.

"Oh, just something random... you'll find out down the road, I'm sure." Jay says, trying to calm down and focus on driving. Danial keeps his storm-blue eyes on the taller male as they head home. The ride home is silent as they pull into their parking spot.

"Okay just tell me already!" Danial asks, finally breaking as they walk into their apartment. Jay throws his head back laughing, helping Danial out of his coat. "What's so funny, Nerd!"

"I'm sorry Danny, but you really are cute when you get like this. Plus, your little silent act on the way home was amusing. You lasted about as long as I thought you would." Jay said, pulling Danial to him by the blonde's hips, lifting one hand up to cup Danial's cheek. Danial glared at him, before looking away, pouting. Jay stared at the adorable blonde, emerald eyes filled with nothing but pure and utter love. "I love you." He said softly. Danial's eyes snapped up to meet Jay's. His breath getting caught in his throat at the look the taller male was giving him.

"I love you too, Deku." Danial says, standing up on his tippy toes to push his lips flush against Jay's. Stealing the breath of the overjoyed brunette. They stand there for what feels like forever, basking in the warmth of each other. The kiss gets more and more heated as their tongues meet. Both having the exact same thought, 'I wish we could stay like this forever.'

"Do you think he'll do it, Dear?" Liam asks Margret later that night as they climb into bed. Margret was in the bathroom cleaning her face as Liam read his book before bed, putting it down to look at his wife walking out of the bathroom.

"I do. And I think they will do very well together. Sure, Jay doesn't make very much, but he has a lot of potential. Who knows, maybe in the future when Danial has to take over, Jay could work with him. Just like us." Margret replies, getting into bed, picking up her own book. A knowing smirk on her face, the same as her husband.

"You are having too much fun with this and are already planning it, aren't you?" Liam asks his wife with a small smile. Margret continues to smirk, not glancing away from her story.

"100 percent." Liam laughs as he goes back to his book, grabbing one of his wife's hands with his. Interlacing their fingers together, enjoying each other's company after a long day at work.

"You never did answer my question, Deku." Danial said, as they laid in bed after a very passionate night of love making. Danial's head rested on Jay's large strong chest as the brunette ran his fingers up and down the blonde's back. A happy smile on his face.

"Don't worry about it, Danny. You will find out in time." He says as he kisses his lover's head before closing his eyes, completely at peace. Danial laid awake a little while longer, trying to figure out what Jay and his parents were talking about earlier that evening. Lots of ideas ran through his head but there was one that stuck out and he couldn't help but hope that was the reason.

'Did Jay ask for permission to propose to me?'
