When I walked into the bar area of the Hotel, Jojo’s and my eyes locked. It was like she was looking into my soul with her green eyes; we looked at each other for a while before I started to move. She was busy serving other customers before she came to me, Jason was probable somewhere in the back getting something. “Good evening, Sir What can I get you?” “You are new?” I stated the obvious. “I am. So how can I help you?” “Macallan 1926, it’s in the cupboard next to the small fridge.” I’m sure she wondered how I knew but she wasn’t going to ask me “Here you go sir.” “Thank you.” “I didn’t get your name.” I said with a smile on my face, for some reason this woman can actually make me smile without doing anything. “It’s because I didn’t give it to you.” “Okay then what do I call you I can’t just say hey when I want your attention?” “I’m Joelle but my friends call me Jojo.” “Would you mind if I call you Jojo?” It looked like she was debating it in her mind “Not at all and you are?” “Jaden Cooper but my friends call me Coop.” “So, what do I call you?” She asked I wasn’t sure if she was flirting or just being friendly. “You can call me Coop.” “Well then Coop yell if you need me.” She walked away and for the first time in a long time I watched a women’s ass in a pair of well-cut jeans. After Olivia left you couldn’t get me to even look at a woman, don’t get me wrong, I still have sex but I don’t really care how they look because it’s sex and that is it, the next day your out and I’ll never see you again. But Jojo fuck I can see why Benji was so obsesses with her and I only spoke a couple of words with her.
John came to the bar just before 9 pm for his usual night cap with me. He walked behind the bar and got out our bottle Cognac. Jason and Jojo were too busy to even notice John was behind the bar. “So, what do you think?” John asked when he put the glass in front of me. Now is the question, is he asking about how she is as a bar maid or as a person because we only spoken once and had an intense eye stare when I got in. I went with the safer option. “She’s good at what she does, you will never say it’s her second night.” “Well, I’m glad to hear that, and have you seen her drinking her water at any time?” “Why?” “She didn’t last night and Benji called me earlier to check on her.” “Jason reminded her a few times.” If I didn’t know Jason was guy, I would have been a bit jealous of how close he stood to her or how he touched her when he told her she should drink her water. Was I watching them like a hawk absolutely? Did I know why I was watching them? I had no idea.
“So where were you last night?” “My father and I had a discussion about Jojo and if he will let her into the internship with a salary?” “And?” “He said yes if I can make her agree to the terms of the internship as well as the salary and the fact that we are going to pay for her last semester.” “Fuck Coop how the fuck are you going to get that right without telling her Benji pulled some favors?” “I don’t know yet but I need to think fast the next semester starts next month.” “So, you telling me you have a month to get to know her well enough to know she studies law, to know she doesn’t have money for her last semester and to know she needs and internship?” “Well, if you put it like that it doesn’t sound like I can do it?” “That’s not what I said I’m just saying a month is not a long time.” “I know maybe that is why my dad said yes he thought I won’t be able to do it.” “I’m here if you need my help.” John said. “Thanks, I might need it but first I’m going to try on my own.” “Does that mean you are going to stay here until 2 am when she goes home?” “Fuck she goes home at 2 am, you know she’s pregnant right?” “I’m aware but this was the shift I had available.” I just shook my head he could have helped her in another way; the sooner I get her to talk to me the better. “Well, I’m leaving are you coming with or are you staying?” “No, I’m coming.” I called out “Jason, Jojo, see you tomorrow night.” “Good night, Coop.” Both of them said. The whole night I could feel someone’s eyes on me and I was sure it was Coop every time my eyes caught him, he was looking at me. He was also looking when Jason touched me but Jason was just friendly there was nothing between me and Jason, I mean we met yesterday and besides I’m most definitely not on the market. Friendship yes but anything other than that no absolutely not, my heart is still in pieces about Benji but, why did I feel a pull towards Coop? Why could I feel his eyes on me the whole night? Why did his eyes look so familiar? That was the questions that was going through my head as we were cleaning the bar as our shift has ended. It was like an hour later than last night I’m not sure I’ll even get some study time in later today. When we walked out Jason asked me “Where did you park?” “Where you told me to.” “Good I’m way to tired to drive you to your car.” “Is every Thursday like tonight?” “Yes, most people come in on a Thursday and make it a long weekend for the kids so when the kids go to bed they come to the Bar.” “Oh God I’ll have to get something for energy if the whole weekend is going to be like this.” “Oh, dear you better because believe me tomorrow night is even worse.” We both got in our cars and drove off. I did the same thing as last night. I got rid of my shoes at the door, got undressed as I walked to my room and fell on the bed and passed out.
