I had Jojo in my arms and I was actually running out of the house with her; the suitcase she was holding was making our get away a bit awkward but I had to get her out of the house with any means possible. When one of the maids that was actually willing to help Jojo was standing at the boot waiting for my driver to open. “What’s your name?” I asked her as she took the suitcase from Jojo. “Melanie sir but everyone calls me Mel.” “Mel you can’t go back in there he will surely hit you for helping us.” “I’m not going back my bags are pack I just need to get them.” “Okay tell you what you take Anton here to help you get your bags I’ll drive around the block and when you are ready call me and I’ll come and pick you up.” “Thank you, Sir, but I’ll be fine.” “I just saw another side to Warren Wayne you will most definitely not be fine. “Anton go with her and help her and I mean in any way you have to.” Anton knew I meant fight his way out of that house. I put Jojo in the SUV made sure she was buckled up; she hasn’t said a word yet she was in total shock but there wasn’t time to sort her out now I could hear Warren approaching us. I jumped in in the driver seat and called out to Anton. “Take care of her.” Then I put peddle to the metal and drove us as fast as I could away from Jojo’s house. Everything is making sense now why she was so afraid all these years he was ruling them with his fucking fist. Fuck I wish I could have hit him just one more time. I drove 2 streets away before I stopped the car and jumped into the back to sit with Jojo. She was still just staring it was like she clocked out.
I touched her hand, which made her jump “It’s only me Benji angel.” She turned herself and threw her arms around me, and then the tears actually started to run. “Thank you thank you so much.” She kept on thanking me but I wasn’t sure for what, for going with, for hitting her father, for getting her out of there but I decided just to hold her and not ask questions not yet I will keep those for the hotel. My phone started ringing “We need to leave angel will you be okay?” “Yes” That’s when she realized I was driving “where is your driver?” “I send him with Mel to get her bags I was worried you father would hit her to.” “We going back to my house?” “Angel, they will get us on the sidewalk don’t worry so far you father hasn’t been seen yet.” She started to be quiet again I could see in the rearview mirror she was actually rocking herself. “Fuck I’m going to get Warren Wayne one way or another for this; I will run my father’s business so well I will be the reason why the Wayne’s go under that is my new mission in life.” I said that out load but Jojo didn’t react she was still rocking herself back and forth.
I stopped at the curb and Anton threw Mel’s stuff in the boot then he opened the door for her, when she saw Jojo, she immediately moved to sit right next to Jojo. Anton wanted to get in the driver side but I didn’t want him to “Just get in when we are far away from this fucking place I will stop and you can take over.” “Fine Benji.” He said not happy. “Was he there?” “He stood at the door made her open her bags to make sure she didn’t take what didn’t belong to her.” “Fuck Anton, did he try and lay a hand on her or you?” It was Mel who answered “No Anton was standing between me and Mr. Wayne the whole time with his chest puffed out Mr. Wayne probable shit his pants because Anton is double his size.” That made the three of us laugh but not Jojo she was still not with us.

My father tried to get rid of my baby how can he be so cruel, he slapped my mother that she didn’t even get up the whole time we were there. What would he have done to me if I went to the house alone. I would probable not have come out of that house ever. I couldn’t believe what was happening. I didn’t feel Benji anywhere near me which also made me nervous did he just abandoned me but then again, I was rocking back and forth and I couldn’t hear sounds all I heard was my father’s words ‘I hope that fall makes you lose that bastard.’ What parent says such things and to his only daughter. Thank God I saved my whole live and had some kind of back up plan. Not that I ever thought I would use it. But if Benji is a man of his word at least I will have work while I finish the last semester, that is if I have money for it. I have to think how much doctors’ appointments are going to cost and checkups for the baby. From now on that is who needs to come first. I felt a hand on my leg and almost jumped out of the SUV “It’s only me angel.” I really thought he abandoned me so I threw my arms around him and kept on saying thank you. I want thanking him for everything, for staying with me, for wanting to run away with me although I will never allow that, for standing up to my father and for hitting him, I liked that one. When he said we need to go back to get his driver and Mel I immediately took my position and rocked myself again.
It was when Mel said softly “Jojo I’m here” that I knew we were safe again and I could let it all out, I threw my arms around her and started to cry This will not be the first time I’ve been crying on Mel’s shoulder but it will be the last and that made me cry even harder. “It’s okay he can’t hurt you now.” “What if he finds me Mel.” It was Benji that answered, “He won’t we will keep everything under wraps he won’t even know where to look for you I promise you that angel.” Could I believe that promise, for know I’m just going to trust him because I was too tired to think of a better plan.
