Chapter 82
Jade’s POV
"You may kiss the bride."
The congregation clapped, cheering, with ladies sounding "Awwn", backing it up with pretty smiles, and giggling as they expressed their happiness at the scene before them.
I faced Gori giggling too. "Congratulations sir." I gave him a quick peck. He wasn't expecting it because he looked a bit shocked, but threw away the look to quickly look round before staring back at me with a smile plastered on his handsome face. "You made it sound like we are the one getting married."
Because I can't wait. Isn't that every girl's dream!
I laughed at my thoughts, smiling at Gori like I didn't have my selfish intentions. I danced in my fitted long sleeve, v-neck white gown that reached my knee as everyone celebrated with the new couple in town before replying Gori.
"Well baby, I sure know what I'm saying cause you've just been given a new wife." I pointed to the beautiful bride whose smiles were the prettiest ever, dazzling everyone with her dancing steps. Right inside the church, she moved from zanku to shakushaku, and all different kind of dancing steps which got her lots of admirers who hailed her, and told her to keep the energy till reception time.
People ehnn!
Then I heard him whisper close to my ear. "My family still need another one, and we can't wait. We already have Mrs. Hips. This time around, we want Mrs. Busty." My eyes met his, and I burst into laughter before his eyes went down to my chest raising his brow to tell me...babe, I die here. I couldn't help enjoying another adventure of laughing till my mouth was worn out. Gori had really proved to be an awesome lover to me. Ever since the day he asked me out, he had crazily spoilt Arabella and I with gifts, care, attention, and almost every time he was with us, we travelled to a beautiful city called happiness where we get to feel his love, laugh ourselves out and express ourselves openly.
The time spent with Gori made me realize Arabella doesn't just resemble him facially because there was more. She was exactly like Gori whenever she laughed, teased, instructed me, and questioned me like a boss. Gori was the silliest person had ever met in my life. He doesn't just laugh like a crazy being sometimes, but enjoyed teasing and playing some hard play with me. I had shouted and made him realize I wasn't Davery, Shayo, or Des, but then he confessed he played with me more than he ever did to them that made me give up praying to survive anytime he was led. I realized I should have remembered those times he intentionally teased me with a rat toy, and even made me agree on coming to the pool party after stopping, and threatening to drop me off. Behind the hard, bossy guy I met was a sweet and loving one.
When a guy truly appreciates, and loves you, he will come down to your level to show you who he truly is apart from what people know him as. At first, I couldn't believe the hard, rude, bossy, arrogant Gori could really express himself to me in another way I never knew. When I started dating him, I met the sweet Gori, the silly Gori, the little Gori, the funny Gori, the playful Gori, caring, and loving Gori. The boy that can laugh his ass out, and trouble you and your ancestors before giving up on you. The beggy beggy Gori was when I get to take advantage of him and get what I wanted. I loved every part of him he showed to me, and I never made him feel vulnerable because he was still the bossy, and arrogant boss whenever he was out of my arms.
As we moved out with the rest of people heading out of the church, I saw my mom and Dad first. Gori and I were still trying to approach them when Bella's sharp eyes saw us from afar, and yanked herself out of mom's grip causing both mom and dad's
eyes to turn to the direction she was running to. Gori laughed. "See the result of not waiting for this pretty babe." He scooped Bella up getting a big hug, and happy smiles from her. "Dad my gown is so fine. Mom said you bought it for me. Thank you so much Dad. Remember I love you more than mom right."
Gori laughed, and nodded winking at me before he turned his gaze back on Bella. "And I love you more than mommy too."
Bella laughed, hugging Gori before facing me with a smile. "Mom, I know you love me too. Please don't get back at me by hiding the cake when we get home."
I laughed because she knew what I could do. Gori shook his head at me, but said to Bella. "Mom won't. I promise.
Besides, Dad can buy you a whole room full of cakes."
Suddenly, her eyes beamed with joy believing Gori lies. I couldn't believe my Arabella fell for that, but then he was her father after all. "I love you so much Daddy.
Like, you are the best papa ever!" She kissed his chest, giving him two thumbs up with a smile on her face. I laughed at the happy Bella. Gori did a good job getting that. We approached my parents who got a greeting from Gori appreciating them for honouring his brother's wedding invitation. When Gori asked me if my parents would be able to make it for the wedding, I told him my parents won't come by mouth, but I didn't know his mom already sent an invitation letter to my parents including the lace they picked for the wedding. An apprentice from his mom's personal designer in Abuja travelled down to our place to take our measurements. It took some days for me to recover from that.
When I thought it was going to be hard for both parents to come together, I was wrong. The first lady herself was really nice just like what everyone said about her. I had seen her pictures on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and I've watched her on TV several times. She seemed a bit tough, bold, and stylish. But then, she was nice and respectful towards my parents whenever they get to talk on phone. When the President himself was going to talk to my parents, God knew I was reading psalms till the call ended. Thank God my parents were educated. That moment, I was so proud of my parents for being educated, brilliant, outspoken, and for giving me the same privilege to be educated, and being able to be someone in life. We might not be in the category of the richest, famous, and most important people with high standard of living, but still, we were family that can be showed to the world because where we were, we held a good prestige, and have a life too. I didn't know why but I suddenly felt this fear that my parents had to lie I was not with them that day. I just couldn't.
"We are heading straight to the reception, and I don't think Arabella is with us any longer." My Dad said, and immediately Arabella responded. "I'm with them grandpa. We will join you."
Everyone of us chuckled slowly. Gori thanked them again telling them a special table was reserved for my family, and a boy was there waiting to direct them. I knew that was Femi. He helped Gori a lot, but was really free with Gori than his other workers and I wondered how he made it to that level with Mr. Adams Goriola Gabriel himself.
My parents left, and I was left with Gori and Bella greeting the people that approached Gori. They gave me side looks, and instead of concentrating on Gori himself, Arabella blew their concentration sense away. I couldn't read their thoughts, but Gori was carrying his twin so I sure knew their thoughts on Bella. And for me, they were not sure who I was.
I had to leave with Arabella to say hi to Davery and the rest. I couldn't stand all the slay queens with very short, and exposed gowns pretending to say hi to him only to have their bodies glued like magnet to his body. Some even went ahead to kiss his cheeks, take pictures with him, touch his shoulder, and do all manner of things my eyes could not stand. Even while I was talking to Davery, Shayo, and Des, I couldn't help throwing few glances to his direction. That was my man. Every lady would be a little bit jealous right? I felt like going there to drag him away, have myself kiss his cheeks alone, touch his shoulder, and even do more than that. Those ladies, even women that were older than him made me a jealous woman for the day. I blamed his gorgeous look, and stature. You can't be beautiful and handsome in peace.
We later arrived at the reception, and I couldn't have been able to imagine what I saw. Even Gori made jest of my reaction. I felt like the money that could feed a whole state or even states for a year was being spent a whole day. I saw governors of different states, senators, the vice President, business tycoons, high celebrities, and important people sitting comfortably with a table filled with food, goods, gifts, and all expensive drinks I had never seen in my life or bought with my money. The whole place took my breath away.
Gori told me to invite Kemi who already informed me she was not coming for the church programme but made it to the reception. Kemi was someone who doesn't really seem surprised at things, but when she arrived at the venue, she acted a scene with me telling me to catch her as she was about fainting. Pearl made it to the reception too, and while the party was still going on, it was already the talk on every social media platforms especially twitter. Big mommy came as well because Goriola and I visited her after I told Gori I owe my big mommy a lot. We went with gifts, I made her favourite and opened up to her about Gori's intentions toward me and Arabella. She was more than excited, and told me to see how Arabella had brought blessings into my family. She said... 'If the abortion had been successful, and there was no Arabella, do you think he would have looked for you, return back, and choose to be in your life?'
Even though I couldn't supply big mommy with an answer, I knew everything had turned around into blessing for me. Looking back at everything, it all turned around for my good, and I couldn't express how grateful I was to God that I didn't end up in shame. Where I sat at our table which was where Gori and his friends including my
parents sat, I stared at the beautiful bride and I couldn't help but imagine when my turn would come. The bride was the first daughter of the prime minister. She was fair with a white skin, tall, and her hips were a bit wide. Very obvious and hard not to admire. She wasn't really that pretty, but the make up didn't make it obvious. Her chest were mini which really complemented her stature just like Funmi. At the back of my mind, I felt bad for not inviting Funmi and the rest, but I couldn't because I was yet to tell them what was between Gori and I. They didn't even know I knew who Gori was, talk less of knowing him as the father of my baby. I guess I was good at keeping things.
The hall suddenly went quiet as the groom himself took the microphone sending everyone into the world of curiosity. Beside him stood Tade who was Gori's elder brother as well smiling sheepishly, and getting everyone even more curious. "Okay guys, without wasting time." The groom smiled at everyone, watching our anxious looks.
Then he continued with a satisfied grin on his face. "My family is proposing to another lucky lady tonighttttt. Aka, Mrs Adams to be." he announced adding a little gragra to it, causing a lot of cheers, and ladies going...
'Awnnnnnnn'. Even I was not left out. It is a beautiful moment to every lady out there, and I couldn't wait to watch the lovely show. I knew it was Tade trying to propose next because he stood there in his tallness eyeing everyone with a grin plastered to his face. I expected him to make a move but nothing was happening yet. The hall fell quiet as all attention was now diverted away from Tade to.....
Me.
God of mercy!
Hope my wig is till on my head.
The look was too much for me to handle.
I quickly touched my head, and my wig was still sitting well. I adjusted my it to divert my attention, and touched my dress at each corner, but then, when I looked up, faces were still directed at me with all sort of happy expressions.
I felt Kemi stepped on me, and a quick glance at my mom, I saw her smiled at me with a facial expression telling me to look beside me. When I did.......
I almost fell out my seat. Somebody shoot me!
On one knee, my world, my heartbeat, my chosen one, my playful, and sweet Daddy G, my sugar Daddy, Goriola Adams, was there. I didn't know what I had done to
deserve this man. He was not perfect, but chose to be a man I can be proud of. He chose to become a better man who can love a lady, care and make her happy to the extent she could shed tears among a full crowd. He smiled at me while I was still in
shock as tears rolled down in surrender to his gift for me to spend my forever with him. Then he popped the question "Jadesola Coker, babe, will you make me the
happiest man on earth, and marry me?"
