Chapter 37 He Owes Me a Favor

Chapter 37 He Owes Me a Favor

"Thank you so much, please come with me." Assistant Parker immediately bent down and led Evelyn to the only remaining computer.

Evelyn didn't waste words and sat down to start coding.

This virus was indeed troublesome—even she couldn't solve it right away. But just seconds after she sat down, the director of the technical department couldn't sit still anymore.

"Assistant Parker, are you crazy? Putting your hopes on a student?"

"Are you saying that all of us graduates from prestigious universities can't match a high school student?"

"Hey, little girl from who knows where, have you even finished your homework? Why are you here causing trouble?"

Assistant Parker couldn't let him talk nonsense like this. He tried to stop him but was cut off: "If she loses the data, that'll be real trouble. What does an assistant like you know!"

Though he was Adrian's right-hand man, he was still just an assistant, while the other person was a department director.

Assistant Parker's face turned red, but he insisted on not letting him interrupt Evelyn. Director Zack cursed angrily: "If you insist on letting this student mess around here, we won't take responsibility for today's losses—"

Before he could finish, Evelyn reached out and chopped the side of his neck with her palm.

Director Zack passed out on the spot.

"Annoying." Evelyn coldly spat out the word, then returned to the computer to continue coding.

The room fell silent for a moment, then erupted in chaos.

Assistant Parker directed two people to "quietly" carry Director Zack out while using his eyes to warn others not to make noise.

But he wasn't Adrian after all—he couldn't intimidate Director Zack's subordinates, and soon whispered complaints started.

"Director Zack was knocked out by that fat girl. Should we call the police?"

"Morgan Corporation is done for. We're letting a student solve our technical problems. I might as well go pick up bottles on the street."

Just then, Evelyn let go of the keyboard and stood up.

"Ha." Someone had just started to sneer mockingly when a surprised shout suddenly rang out in the office.

"Holy crap, everything's restored?!"

Everyone immediately turned to look at their computers. After a flurry of keyboard clicks and testing, they all reached the same conclusion—

That mysterious virus had mysteriously disappeared. The company network and systems were completely restored, and all operations could proceed smoothly!

"Incredible." Someone came to their senses and excitedly rushed toward Evelyn. "Which expert are you?"

Assistant Parker quickly pushed them all away and stood proudly in front of Evelyn. "Go, go, go. Who was just looking down on her? Someone even wanted to call the police—was that you?"

The person shrank back and slipped away.

He pulled over another person. "Hey, were you the one scoffing just now?"

"Not me, Assistant Parker. You must be mistaken." This person also left with an awkward smile.

Assistant Parker snorted and didn't bother with them anymore. He turned to thank Evelyn repeatedly.

"Miss Grant, you've done us a huge favor."

"I know." Evelyn smiled. "So tell Adrian—he owes me a favor."

Assistant Parker was stunned, then heard someone at the door shout: "Mr. Morgan is here."

He immediately brightened up and suggested taking Evelyn over, but Evelyn refused.

"Just pass along my message. I'm going to the restroom. Do what you need to do, don't worry about me."

This was Morgan Corporation—how could they let unauthorized people wander around... Assistant Parker watched helplessly as Evelyn walked away, and could only quickly instruct a few people to notify everyone internally not to offend Evelyn before hurrying off to find Adrian.

After using the restroom, Evelyn had no trouble getting around. Though many employees looked at her curiously, no one came up to waste her time. Evelyn guessed Assistant Parker had done something and was satisfied.

After moving to her new villa, she needed a butler. If she could recruit Assistant Parker, that would be great.

Lost in thought, she passed by the IT department again. Adrian had arrived, and Director Zack had woken up. He was now shrinking his head and getting scolded.

Evelyn crossed her arms and leaned against the doorframe, watching Adrian reprimand people with interest.

She was used to seeing his cold or polite side, but hadn't seen him at work before. He was so serious and imposing.

Come to think of it, he'd only been working for a few years. He took over Morgan Corporation right away and achieved such impressive results. He really shouldn't be underestimated.

"Mr. Morgan, we really have Miss Grant to thank this time." Assistant Parker didn't forget to give Evelyn credit, then sneered at Director Zack. "Although Director Zack deliberately interfered, she still solved the virus at an incredible speed."

Director Zack was too scared to make a sound.

Adrian raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Her?"

He was naturally surprised that Evelyn could solve a problem his highly-paid technical staff couldn't, but he was more surprised that she would take the initiative to help him.

However, Assistant Parker quickly cleared up his confusion.

Assistant Parker said: "Yes, Miss Grant also asked me to pass along a message. She said—you owe her a favor."

"Ha." Adrian chuckled lightly. He wasn't annoyed—this was the Evelyn he knew.

But then he froze. Because he suddenly remembered that Evelyn had said the same thing to him before—

"Adrian, remember, you owe me a favor. You have to repay it."

A strange feeling stirred in Adrian's heart. They were clearly two completely different people with different appearances and backgrounds, yet they always gave him a sense of familiarity.

Just then, Morgan Corporation's receptionist ran in frantically. "Mr. Morgan, there's someone at the door saying he created this virus."

"What?" Assistant Parker exclaimed, then saw Evelyn watching the show at the door. He immediately smiled: "Miss Grant, you haven't left yet."

Adrian also looked toward the door, glanced at Evelyn lightly, and nodded in greeting. Without making small talk with her, he followed the receptionist and strode toward the entrance.

Morgan Corporation's losses this time were at least a million. He wanted to see who had caused him such big trouble for no reason.

Assistant Parker followed Adrian past Evelyn. Not daring to ignore her like his boss did, he smiled and asked: "Miss Grant, want to come see?"

Evelyn was about to leave anyway, so she followed along.

At the entrance of the office building, several Morgan Corporation employees cautiously surrounded a young man, not daring to let him in or let him leave.

They waited until Adrian came out, then followed their CEO with relief, saying hurriedly: "Mr. Morgan, it's this person. He actually said he was behind the virus just now."

Adrian frowned at the arrogant-looking young man. Before he could speak, the other person extended his hand with a confident smile.

"Hello, Christopher."
