Chapter 86 THE TALK
SIANNA'S POV
Being angry would not help Sammy's situation, though I was boiling with rage. She obviously feared Malik's retaliation if we confronted him, but a Luna command would surely stop him from attacking her again. Abuse is not tolerated in our pack. So he would be punished by his Alpha later. The poor girl had already endured her body being used as a sex toy before she escaped as a rogue and came here for a chance to live a good life.
Intending to head to the hunters' ground, Vance and I shifted into our wolves after exiting the pack house. My silver wolf walked over to him and nuzzled him on the neck. He does it back to me and rubs
My wolf wags its tail high in the air and, with its tongue lolled out, delivers a sloppy lick on her mate's face. She frolics and dances around him, then bowed with the front of its body down to the ground, while holding her hind high, with its tail swaying rapidly from left to right. Then she goes up to him and applies soft muzzle bites.
In one swift movement, he pinned me under him, and I instantly rolled on my back so that he looked down into my wolf's eyes. His head dipped to lick my muzzle, moving to my mane. Then our icy noses touched and I licked him back and push him away. He growled at me because he wanted to be close to me in that position, but I scampered away knowing that he was chasing behind me. My wolf enjoyed being released after being cooped up for too long.
He lets me win as we come upon a treeline of chestnut oak trees. My wolf jumps on him, playfully landing her front paws on his side and licking him some more with our tongue as the sparks overwhelm us. Once I got off him, I quickly shifted into my human form.
As he transformed into his naked human form and advanced toward me, he growled, "Mine." I bit my lower lip as I stared into his pitch- black eyes. My heart raced with anticipation of his hot lips. The bulk of his powerful, well-sculpted muscles was hauling at my lust to yield. A sneaky smile slipped on my lips and I conveyed impure thoughts to him.
Lost in admiration and lust with every stretch of his bones. Sweat dripped from his chest, down to his sculpted stomach. He feels the heat of my stare as my breath hitches to the bond that lugs at us. The steam increases between us.
Instantly he closes the gap, wasting no time to kiss me passionately. Throwing me roughly against a tree so that my back is turned to him with my hands bracing for support on the tree bark. He kisses the side of my neck, trailing some down to her back.
My moans come out desperate and low. He bends me slightly over by grabbing my waist. My face was inches from the tree, and my core was wet and prepared to receive him. He thrusts inside of me, harder and harder, letting out a massive growl. My moans increase in proportion as his penetration gets harder and more fervid with every thrust.
Shockwaves hit. My tightening walls clasp around him as I climax and he erupts within a second after. Together, we ride out the sensation, laughing with each other. He turned me to face him, my arms went around his neck as we kissed until the high dispelled.
"We need to clean up," I referred to us smelling like sex around the others. We were approximately 120 meters away from the grounds. "Let's do our rounds quickly and then we can go to the small lake to freshen up," He mumbles as his lips brushed my ear and I shivered from the electrical sparks.
Knowing exactly where this could lead, I pushed him away and he pouted cutely. We both found clothes, hidden by the trees, and got dressed. We walked towards the field in front of the hunters' ground, which we referred to as the camping site or hunters' camp.
The area had 6ft folding tables and chairs to accommodate meals instead of the ballroom. The sixteen meters square ridge tents were across the area, three per pack. My eyes scouted the grounds for Malik as I needed to talk to him. Bummed but not discouraged, I will locate him duly.
As soon as Blayne drove up with a red panel van of weaponry for the occasion, I gave him twenty minutes to discharge them to the teams before I pulled him aside. Wade, Rohan, and Ellis were the elites assisting him and continued the supervision.
"Luna, what's up?"
We stood under a cedar tree as I inquired about his elite.
"Where is Malik?" Usually, the order would be given to Blayne or
Duke to reprimand him while I stayed out of it. But this was Sammy
and I had to get my two bits into the situation.
"He's overseeing the Blazers Patrol station," Blayne furrowed his brows, "Do you need him?"
"Yes, could you send him over to me?" I gravely requested.
"Sure, but is there anything that I should be aware of?" He paused as his eyes scrutinized mine.
When I shook my head, he turned to walk away but I caught him by the sleeve, "Has he been acting unusual around you?"
His lips thinned as he thought deeply about it, "No, he has not but ..... Wade gave me a recent complaint about his behavior."
My ears became alert as I waited for the details, "Uh-huh?"
"Malik has distanced himself from the troop. He's not as involved in activities as before. It's almost as though he is deliberately avoiding his duties." Blayne's eyes quickly swept to his van where Wade and the others were and then back to me.
"How did your talk with him go?" Surely, he must have confronted him about his behavioral change.
"I told Wade to monitor him and let me have a second report soon," His voice suddenly softens, "It could be a relationship issue. Malik took his duties seriously. It could be a phase but I'll wait until Wade gets back to me."
It was not enough for me to sit and wait, "Please send him to me in thirty minutes."
"Would you like me to be with you when he comes?" He intently focused on my expression.
"No, but I will tell you the outcome," I promised him. A bit of satisfaction lightened the weight on my chest.
He nodded and went back to his van, picks up his clipboard, and reviewed the issuance of the gadgets.
Looking over at Vance, I thought it was best to be at his side. He was ensuring that all the hunters' medical reports indicated that they were fit and up to scratch for tomorrow. While walking over to him, some of the warriors and hunters did training drills and were sparring, sweat dripping off their bare chests.
None of them paid any attention to my wandering eyes, because Vance would tear them to shreds. He growls, startling everyone, and I flip my eyes at him. Hiding the smile that eagerly desired to creep
on my lips.
I know that he wants me, but due to the lookout for Curtis, he's been trying to keep his desires at bay. Our little session earlier in the forest was to quell a tiny fraction of his massive libido.
"Are the hunters ready for tomorrow?" I held his hand as I stood by his side. He leaned in and kissed my cheek.
"Yes, everything is fully prepared. They will huddle and put their competitive strategies together to see how best they can outdo the other teams." His arms encircled my waist.
The onlookers only grinned at us before returning to their previous activities. They had received a sharp look from Vance that screamed for them to mind their own business. So, they resumed their mumbling and positions.
The thick velvet ribbons that had each team's name imprinted in
gold on them caught my attention. The different colors were beautiful. I had not seen them since I made the order and quickly examined my handy work without noticing that Alpha Mark approached the table to speak with us.
"Alpha Vance, Luna Sianna, if it's not much trouble, there is a small
matter that I would like to bring to your attention," The twenty-two -year-old Alpha began.
"Speak Mark, don't make us wait until Christmas," Vance flared, aiming to keep his displeasure under wraps.
Alpha Mark was nervous but did as directed, "I believe that I have
found my mate among one of your omegas." He scratched the back of his neck, trying his best to appear nonchalant.
A broad smile crossed my lips. I was so happy for him to find his
other half. "How marvelous!" I clasped my hand below my chin in excitement, "Which one is it?"
"Her name is Wendy Dunn. You assigned her to cater to me." His face
lit up as he spoke of her.
Oh, that Wendy. I thought to myself but pressed hard to maintain my
joy for them, "You are clearly smitten."
"Are you requesting permission to take her to the Stark Raven Pack?" Vance inquired with a steel gaze on the Alpha.
"I would like to do so," His eyes went wide and blinked, then he
eagerly said it with a bow. "Please."
"But she was unmarked when I saw her today, and you know you must mark her before we do the paperwork." Vance gave the reminder.
Before females can leave their pack to join another, the male mate
must demonstrate that he has a serious claim on her by applying the bite mark, thus sealing the bond.
"I will discuss it with her tonight and let you know as soon as possible. Once her permission is granted, I will not hesitate to mark her." Alpha Mark was smiling nonstop after his talk with us. Wendy was not a favorite of mine, but since her lashing after our
first encounter, she has behaved very decently. I hope that she makes a good Luna and does not bully her subjects.
Once Alpha Mark left us, I said to Vance, "I hope that she does not create trouble at the pack or abuse those below her."
"A talk from you might help steer her head into what makes a good Luna," Vance commented. "I believe everyone across the globe knows how savage their High Luna can be." He winked at me with a jocular smirk.
Suddenly, Vance began dry coughing, so much that it drew attention as he bent over. He brought his hand to his mouth while the other stayed over his chest. One of my hands went to his back and the other to his chest. As soon as his airways relaxed, the hand he removed from his mouth had blood and my heart clawed with worry. The Lunas and Alphas all took note of this, gasping in shock and their curiosity sought to be quenched. To have them retreat, I nodded to everyone that he was alright. That was to dismiss the attention instantly. Malik, who was standing fifteen meters away with a menacing expression, had caught my attention while I was searching for an omega to summon. I located omega Wendy as being the nearest and ordered her to complete the assignment right away in an effort to concentrate on how important it was to get Vance
some water.
To my surprise, Malik reaches to my side with a chair for Vance to sit on. "Thank you, Malik. Alpha will be fine in a minute." The elite says nothing but continues to stay close to me, watching us
keenly. I cannot display my concerns about Vance's health too much for fear that those around us might see him as weak, and make use of any opportunities, brewing undesirable conflict. So I must act accordingly, as though this was a minor health issue.
"Baby, take it easy." I gently stroked his chest. Blayne and Duke glanced at me and I nodded at them.
"Luna, maybe we should take the Alpha to see your mother," Blayne
proposed, "You could have that talk with Malik and meet us at the hospital."
"Yes, do that." I agreed and kissed my mate's forehead. "See you later."
"I'll be back soon, baby," Vance flirtatiously winked and smiled. I blushed, silly me.
I watched Balyne assist Vance on his feet and together they got into
his van. As the vehicle drove away, a light chuckle came from behind me. I turned to look into his dark eyes.
"Luna, you wish to see me." His lips thinned as he straightened his face into a blank expression.
Despite the fact that everyone was occupied with their own forms of entertainment, it would not be wise to ask him about his relationship while others were around. A private forum would be better suited.
"Let us take a walk," I thought that we could have the talk by the little spring that was beyond the cluster of trees. Silently, he trod behind me and after we got to the lake, I stopped at
the swing by the tree. No one was there except us, but the noise from
the hunters' ground could be heard.
"Malik, what is going on between you and Sammy?" I assessed his eyes and body language, "I saw the bruises."
"Did she complain to you?" He boldly glared at me, narrowing his
eyes.
"Do you admit that you hurt her?" I asked in disbelief, studying him.
He groaned while looking at the sky, with a hint of anger. "We are
fine, there's no need to worry."
When he finally looked at me, I scoffed, "She is awfully scared of you
so do not tell me not to worry, and must I remind you that I am your Luna?" Threateningly, I closed in on him so that he understood that I was demanding answers and not messing around. "What is happening to you, Malik?"
He took a calm breath to keep his emotions in check and played it off
with an innocent and confident look. "Sammy and I are having a rough patch, most relationships go through them." The absence of sadness in his eyes made me sigh. I wanted to slap the
cheekiness out of him. "Should we grant her safety from you?" His edgy stance told me that he was not able to confirm that. "I need to know that you will not hurt her in any way again."
"Some time apart might do us good," he murmured in a low tone. Avoiding my gaze, his head turned away to observe the fighting squirrels in the oak tree.
"Why? Mates crave each other and the distance between us drives us
crazy." I failed to understand the logic to push Sammy away. "Do not take advantage of the mate bond."
"You spent time away from Alpha Vance and you are both together now," He added with a little sarcasm, "Oh so happily reunited." The smug look returned to his face, "Or is that what you want us to think?" Shocked by the audacity, I drew nearer to him so that our chests almost touched. My eyes were heated with anger, piercing into his. "
Mind your words, Malik." My aura spilled out.
The matching gaze he gave held a promise before submitting, "I.... will, Luna." He bowed and walked further away to the east, deeper
into the forest. Rudely cutting our conversation short and without my dismissal.
Perplexed, I wondered what on earth was going on here. I turned around to observe him disappear into the forest and I decided to
follow him closely. He did not look back but instead, when he reached the stony creek, he circled me.
"Aren't I entitled to some privacy, Luna?" He asked coyly. Then
leaned against a tree, fiddling with a twig between his fingers. He broke it and twirled it in his hands.
"It depends on what you do with that privilege, and this is my pack."
I retorted and refrained from itching to punch him in the face.
"I appreciate your concern and I promise to improve. There is so
much that is on my mind," He stares intently, displaying a friendly smile, and rakes his eyes over my body. I began to feel uncomfortable.
"You have not completed your shift. Please go back to your post," I
ordered. Baffled by the recognition that he held no remorse. This was
enough, and I should let the men handle this brute. Blayne will deliver his just punishment.
"Sianna, who are you with?" Vance's voice bore into my head through the mind-link.
"I am with Malik," I explained, "I had to ta....." "Listen carefully, but do not panic," His tone urgently cut me off, "
He's a threat and I need you to keep him where you are. Don't ask
questions. I am on my way." Malik slowly turned to walk away and I tried to stop him based on Vance's request. "Wait!"
